YOUTHS BUILD BOAT An example of an industrial arts project at Medford High school is this boat constructed by twins Gary and Lary Olson. Examining it are Kiwanis club members Bill Singler, Don Fabcr, Dr. Merle Foland and Russ Renncr. The boat and other exhibits were on display al a Tuesday meeting of Rotary club and a Wednesday meeting of Kiwanis. Dr. Leonard Mayficld, superintendent of schools, addressed both service clubs and Kiwanjans heard the high school choir. Mayfield dis cussed what the. local high school is doing in areas outside of athletics. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and drive-up, booth and counter service are available. During the dinner hour they specialize in Italian spaghetti and Bombay chicken curry with chutney. Homemade soups, pies and chili also are on the menu. Irrigation District Granted Easement Salem - HTD - The Talent Ir rigation District In Jackson County has been granted an easement by the Oregon High way Commission covering .07 of an acre along the Seven Oaks-Ashland section of the Pacific Highway. The district wants to build an irrigation ditch. The commission also hand ed over to the city of Med ford title to .03 of an acre on the northwest corner of the intersection of Biddle rd. and Jackson st. on the Seven Oaks-Ashland section of the Pacific Highway. The city will improve the intersection. WAITING TO BE FED-These are some of the 40 or more deer at Woodland Deer Park. Tourists and residents have been in vited to hand feed the deer. Cave Junction Park Reopens By KATHERINE SCOTT Mail Tribun Correspondent Cave Junction - Woodland Deer Park, the Highway 1B9 tourist attraction where vis itors many hand feed deer and other animals, has been reopened after a winter vaca tion. During the several months the park was closed, the own ers. Myrtle Tally and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hamilton, added a number of new at tractions to its Mother Goose Land portion. Hamilton carved miniature wooden animals, while Miss Tally and Mrs. Hamilton painted them. Mother Goose Land now features an archway decorated with nursery rhyme characters. Jack and the Bean stalk, Red Ridinghood's house, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears among others. The Three Little Pigs are there in the form of real pigs. This year, peacocks and rab bits have been added and there are monkeys and baby goats to be hand fed along with the deer. Located l'j miles south of Cave Junction on the Red wood Highway, the park is said to he the only one nf its j kind on the Pacific Coast. I Some 40 deer are kept there. One fawn has arrived this year and more are expected. j The park offers special rates I to school classes. Brownie, Cub and Boy Scout groups. A picnic area, entered through the building instead of the park this year, can be occupied at any time. Food, film and souvenirs also are available. Displays at the two meetings included those on industrial arts, distributive education science, homemaking, social studies, art and art crafts, business education, English (including public speak ing, journalism and dramatics) and foreign languages. Mayfield reported that the school administration believes in excellence and in academic competition and deration. He praised the foundation laid here by E. H.
