Phoenix School Board To Meet Phoenix The board of Phoenix-Talent school district will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Friday to 1 c view three candidates for principal of Phoenix grade school. At a meeting Monday night, the board asked District Su perintendent Ernest R. James to pick the three candidates lie considered best qualified and arrange for the board to j interview them Friday. I In other action, the board , decided to investigate the fea sibility of purchasing private I insurance in place of State In dustrial Accident coverage. Adv.) -k -k -k Grange News Pomona Grtng Ackson County Pomona Grange met at the Li Oak Grange hall recently. Officers absent were Assistant Stew ard Lloyd Lacy; Ceres, Anna Scott. Visitors included Kenneth Kelley, Josephine County dep uty, and Mrs. Kelley; Art Strickland, master of Jose phine County Pomona Grange, and David Strickland, Jose phine County youth chairman. Lecturer Mabel Wertz an nounced that the tentative meeting place of subordinate lecturers for instruction in recreational mixers at State Grange would be at Fruitdale Grange, Grants Pass, May 15. Lecturers planning to attend this session should contact Mrs. Wertz for verification of the meeting place. She stated that pictures from the Eagle Point school art contest were now on dis play, the prizes being award ed by the Eagle Point Grange, and encouraged entries for the State Art Exhibit. The spring festival of the Exten sion Unit will be held at Mon Tesir May 14, when pictures of Alba, Italy, will be shown. Reports of committee chair men indicated livestock prices holding, and the subsidy on grain keeping prices level. The outlook for the valley pear crop was reported to be good, with heavy bloom and pollination good. Some 80,000 pear trees are being set out in the Eagle Point district and 200 additional acres will be planted to pear trees south of Medford, the re-plant to make up for lost orchards. Dairy prices were reported to be cut again, and some relief for the producer is needed. The annual memorial serv ice was conducted during the lecture hour.
