Don Stoner was installed pres ident; Mrs. .Marvin Brewster, vice-president; Mrs. Clay Bri on, secretary; Mrs. Jerry Bur rell, treasurer. Mrs. Le Hoy Offenbacher, retiring president, presented her executive committee members with corsages in ap preciation of their work. So honored were Mrs. Betty Henderson, vice-pre s i d e n t; Mrs. Brion, secretary; Mrs. Jerry Burrcll, treasurer; Mrs. Thornton Gapen, chaplain; Mrs. Marvin Brewster, hos pitality chairman; Mrs. Shearl Thorn is, publicity chairman; Mrs. Henry Head and Mrs. Vernon Fowler, membership and refreshment chairman, and Mrs. Maybclle Offen bacher, historian. The Applegate school chor us entertained with several songs. George Focrst and John Hill played a duet; Laura Foerst, Marilyn Gapen and Nancy Head played a trio, and Susan Head furnished a solo. Golden Circle Group To Elect New Officers Gold Hill - Election of offi cers for the coming year will be held when the Golden Cir cle Women's group of Gold Hill Christian church meets Monday, May 14. Mrs. Alfred Castillo will be hostess for the group at her home 714 West Tenth street, Medford at 1 p.m. At that time several important proj ects will be discussed, and Mrs. E. J. CITIZINS COMMITTft FOR HOMl RUlt, R. I. Collins, Chmn., 235 So. Oakdtlt, Mtdford, Orton 0 Girt Scouts Troop 88 Girl Scout Troop 88 held a Court of Awards at Roose velt school auditorium. The girls opened the program with a flag ceremony and song, followed by a welcome by the leader, Mrs. Harold Hewlett. A candlelighting ceremony and recitation of the Girl Scout Laws was held with each girl partici pating. Mrs. William L. White spoke briefly on summer camping. Second class ranks were awarded, followed by singing under the direction of Mrs. Jerry Gastineau. Mrs. George Gannon was in charge of refreshments. Other recent activities of the troop include an open discussion concerning Ger many to promote internation al friendship. Mrs. Werner Warnholtz, who has just re cently returned from a visit to Germany, led the discus sion and answered questions of interest to the girls. Last week the troop learned to "boondoggle" and made a bracelet using this skill of weaving plastic strips into in teresting patterns. Mrs. Jer ris Lawrence taught the skill, assisted by Mrs. T. J. Morris, Mrs. White and Mrs. Hewlett. Brownie Troop 139 A Japanese study for inter national friendship was re cently undertaken by Brownie Troop 139. An exhibit of Japanese items brought by each girl was the highlight of the first meeting. Fortune cookies and tea were served at low tables with cushions to sit upon at the second meet ing, and Japanese clogs were made and worn at the third one. Flannel figures were made to depict "Brownie Treas ures" and at the April 13 Roosevelt PTA meeting the flannclgraph was shown with each girl adding her own Brownie treasure as she told of it. The troop has enjoyed several skating parties recent ly. They also participated in the Girl Scout cookie sale. At present the troop is di divided into three groups, one to cook refreshments, one to be hostesses, and one group as guests. These groups will rotate and after three meet ings each will have had a turn at each project. A mothers' tea for Troop 139 is planned for May 17 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. John Drysdale, 417 Eastwood drive. Leader of the troop is Mrs. R. C. Vincent with Mrs. Jack Hartley and Mrs. William White assisting. Special recognition was giv en to the girls of the bethel who served on the favors and decorating committees as well as to Mrs. Raymond Reter, Mrs. Buonocore, Mrs. Harold Gordon, Mrs. Robert Minear, Mrs. W. E. Edwards, and Mrs. Guy Phettcplace. Installation Set By Gold Hill PTA Gold Hill - Mrs. Donald Meister will be installed pres ident of the Gold Hill Parent Teacher association when the unit holds the last meeting of the year Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Patrick Element ary school. Other officers to be in stalled are Mrs. Rolen Rose- crans, vice president; Mrs. R. M. Gray, secretary; and Nor man Holden, treasurer. Mrs. Lester Parker, past president, will be installing of ficer. Gardeners Plan I For Ceremony Jacksonville - Officers for the Jacksonville Garden club will be installed at a meet ing of the club Thursday, May 17 ln the Community club room. Moor of the Oregon State university faculty spoke to parents and prospective stu dents regarding housing and finances. Bo' deans stressed that there are many scholar ships available to students who might otherwise be un able to attend because of fi nancial difficulties. A question and answer period wa conducted. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Al lan Jewett and her commit tee served refreshments.
