o Council Gives Tontative Approval to Young Musicians to Play Tne Medford city council . council for Dermission in od-i . ;,.....,,: .; ..... j.., ine nieaiord city council Thursday night gave tentative approval to Robert Adl rftinager of a group of mu sicians called the Corvairs, to hold a dance Friday, May 11, at the Medford American Legion hall. Since Adler and the group of musicians he represents are all under 21 years of age, several of the councilmen were reluctant to give out right approval to the request. Councilman Donald Han sen moved approval with the stipulation that a member of the American Legion contact City Manager Robert Duff and offer himself as a spon sor for the dance. The coun cil agreed to that proposal. "You sort of have approv al," Mayor John Snider told the young man with a smile. Dale Truax, president of the student body at Southern Oregon college, asked the council for permission to op erate a sound truck in Med ford to promote the appear ance of the Limeliglers. a vocal trio, in Medford May 18. Councilman William Sing ler told the SOC student that while he was sympathetic with this particular endeavor, it had been the consistent policy of the council for sev eral years to deny such re quests. A unanimous negative voted followed. Three public hearings were held. The council voted to amend a city ordinance to permit construction and op eration of small animal hos pitals in commercial zones; to grant a change of zone from single-family to multiple-family for a piece of prop erty located on Crater Lake avc. to permit the construc tion of the proposed Sacred Heart hospital; and to author- Medford OTribune SECTION D MEDFORD, OREGON. Duff said the 'city wished to study the bids and specifications more closely. All councilmen were pres ent at Thursday's meeting ex cept R. L. Van Sickle.
