Myers, principal of the Phoenix Ele mentary school, was the guest of honor at a coffee hour May 1 at the home of Mrs. Delno Sloan on Calhoun road. Mr. Meyers is leaving the Phoenix School system, after serving in his present capacity for 16 years, to take a position as loan officer of the First Federal Savings and Loan as sociation of Medford. Guests included the present Phoenix Elementary school teachers and staff; previous Phoenix Elementary teachers now teaching in Talent, Mrs. Olive Fountain, Mrs. Virginia Christlieb, Lewis Bertrand, John Stewart, Joseph Fader, and Harry Kannasto. Superin tendent and Mrs. E. R. James, Mrs. Florence Drake, Mrs. John E. Attending the state conven tion from the valley were 15 members of Alpha Lambda and Delta Omega chapters in Medford, four from Alpha Kappa in Ashland and three from Beta Nu in Eagle Point. Chapter awards were pre sented during the "Queen of Hearts" banquet Saturday evening. Alpha j Lambda chapter was first In the educational category. A memorial service was conducted Sunday by Mrs. Vernon Rush, Alpha Kappa, Ashland, state chaplain. Valley members who serv ed on convention committees were Mrs. David Young, Al pha Lambda, budget; Mrs. R. R. Martin, Alpha Kappa, bal loting; and Mrs. Richard Mcls ter, president of Delta Omega, auditing. It was announced that the 67 state chapters have donat ed nearly $12,000 to the Crip pled Children's hospital school In Eugene. The 1063 convention will be held in Roseburg.
