The auxiliary is 35 years eld In Oregon. Delegates Attending Convention Mrs. O. O. Deberry, Mrs. Ivan Lusk, Mrs. Russel Zun riel and Mrs. B. B. Ramsey have been appointed dele gates to attend a royal hunt of the Military Order of Lady Bugs to be held May 4 through 8 in Prineville. The appoint ments were made during a meeting of the Roguette circle April 10; Mrs. Harold Suther land presided. During the evening plans were made for members to assist In serving refreshments at the Camp White domiciliary Hobby fair on April 29. Vet erans will display arts and crafts and tours will be con ducted. Mrs. Ralph Pillock and Mrs. Ramsey served refresh ments. The next regular meeting ef the circle will be May 8 at the VFW hall, 42 North Front street. Couple Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stinger, 8386 Lone Pine road, were honored at a dinner held April 10 on their 25th wedding an niversary. They were enter tained at the home of Mr. Stinger's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stinger, Eagle Point. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. David Cox and children Shelly and Susan, Mr. and Mrs. Don Cox, Mrs. Irene Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stinger and children Mary, Michael, Linda and Norma, and the Stlnger'i children, Karen and Craig. The couple received cards and gifts from those attend ing. Miss Linda Stinger was cel ebrating her 13th birthday an niversary, and Miss Norma Stinger, her 12th birthday, on the same occasion. They were also presented cards and gifts. Shower Honors Medford Woman Mrs. Hugh Huntley was guest of honor at a shower given April 12 at the home of Mrs. Edward Conner, 906 Newtown street. Cohostcsses were Mrs. Dorothy McCor mick and Mrs. William Acord. Twenty four guests attended. Music, Flower, Food Planned for Jewelerama Organ music will provide a musical background for the glitter of jewels at the silver tea and jewelerama on April 26, planned as a benefit for the American Cancer society. John Stong of Purucker Music house will play the organ in the Starlight room of the Rogue Valley Country club, where the jewels will be on display from 2 to 4:30 o'clock in the afternoon and from 7:30 to 9:30 o'clock in the evening. The tea is sponsor ed by the Hlllcrest tea com mittee, a part of the Jackson County unit of the ACS. Mrs. Raymond Miksche will arrange the floral center pieces for the two teatables. Flower arrangements to dec orate the room will be do nated by Glnn's Flowers, Hoppe's Greenhouse and Flor ist, Leonard's Flowers, and the Medford Flower shop. The jewels on display will be brought to Medford by Oscar Heyman and company of New York city, in coopera tion with Brophy's Jewelers of Medford and Skeie's Jewel ers of Eugene. The Hillcrest lea commitlee meets monthly to assist the Jackson County unit with its work. The committee, prevl ously called the cancer com mittee, preceded the present county unit in the valley, be fore the expanding activities of the ACS required more workers and greater citlren participation to achieve Its desired aims. The special project of the committee is Its annual tea which has been held for many years at Hillcrest house in April. However, many mem bers of the committee have duties with the county unit, in addition to their work with the tea committee. Mrs. John S. Day, chair. man of the tea committee, it also on the board of directors of the Jackson County unit of the ACS, and is a member of the board of directors of the Oregon Division of the ACS. Mrs. Ray Frisbie, Mrs. Ralph Odell, and Mrs. Rich ard Sachwahn are also mem bers of the board of directors of the Jackson County unit. Mrs. Frisbie has headed the service branch of the ACS in Jackson county for several years. Mrs. Odell was a chair man of the door-to-door drive in Medford for three years. Wes JEWELER 9 So. Officers of the Hillcrest tea committee, in addition to the chairman, Mrs. Day, are Mrs. Darrell Miller, vice-chairman, ana Mrs. Thomas Bolton, secretary. Ladies of Elks Set Card Party The semi monthly card party and salad luncheon for Medford Ladies of Elks will be held Tuesday, April 17 in the Elks temple party room. The luncheon will be served at 2 p.m., followed by the card party. Wives and widows of Elks lodge members are Invited. Mrs. J. J. Materie, Mrs. S. L. Jones and Mrs. C. W. Booth will be hostesses. Ceremony Is Held in California Miss Janice Mae Coghill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar L. Coghill, 1289 Cog hill Lane, Medford, became the bride of Clarence Corn stock, formerly of Medford, at a double ring ceremony held Saturday, March 24 at Santa Clara, Calif. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Corn stock, 800 Park Place 4, Med ford. The ceremony was per formed by the Rev, Paul Logs-, don at 6:30 o'clock in the eve ning. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Mrs. Coghill was her daugh ter's attendant and Daniel Coghill, brother of the bride, was best man. For her wedding the bride wore a beige suit with orange accessories and matching headdress. Mrs. Coghill was dressed In a beige tweed dress with black accessories. A reception was held at the couple's future home in Sun nyvale, Calif. The cake was made and decorated by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Millard E. Hulse of Medford. Both the bride and bride groom are 1959 graduates of Medford High school and at tended Southern Oregon col lege for two years prior to entering the San Jose State college last fall, where both are now students. The bride also is employed by the telephone company in San Jose and the bridegroom is employed at Huggins lab oratories there. They are living at 611 Bryan street In Sunnyvale. Also attending the wedding from Medford was Wayne Schultz, an uncle of the bride groom. 4 Couple Arrive Home From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Leonard F. Carlson, 3617 Ross Lane, ar rived home the first of last week after spending four days in Hollywood-by-th-Sea, Fla. Mr. Carlson was awarded the trip for himself and Mrs. Carl son as the result of a sales contest. The couple were guests at the Diplomat Resorts and Country club while there. En route the Carlsons spent a day in San Francisco. Old Pictures of Medford To Be Shown; Classes Set Pictures of Medford taken during the period dating from the founding of the city In 1R8S to IBIS will be shown to the Arm Chair Travelers at the Senior Activity center Monday, April 16, at 1 p.m. by Seth Bullis. When Medford held Its 75th anniversary in 1960, slides were made from the original plates of these pic tures, part of the collection belonging to Gene Thomas. Dr. Frank Roberts, who ar ranged this program, invites long-time residents as well as those whose parents and grandparents were pioneers in this area, to attend the showing. The Tuesday oil painting class had a lesson on using the pallet knife last week from their teacher, Mrs. Gene Williams. Tuesday, April 17, this class will be visited by Mrs. Clif ford Zollinger, Portland, member of the National Coun cil on Aging and the Senior Craftsmen of Oregon, which the founded. Mrs. Zollinger will be In Medford as a speaker for the fourth session of the "Preparation for Re tirement" series which will take place in the conference room of the Public Library of Medford and Jackson county Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, she will be guest speaker at the open meeting of the Rogue Valley Council on Aging at the Red Cross auditorium at 2 p.m. where she will show pictures of the Senior Crafts men shop In Portland. Orchestra to Play . The Senior Center orches tra will play at 1 p.m. Wednes day prior to the council meet ing. Mrs. Cora MrMahnn, local artist who taught the Satur day art class for Clifford Platz on several occasions last spring, started teaching the group again yesterday and will continue until the return of their teacher, Mrs. Ruby Twedell. Mrs. Bess Mitchell, who has taught the class for three weeks for Mrs. Twe dell, has left Medford on a vacation. All teachers of art at the center have been members of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists who have donated their services at the center since its beginning in 1958. More than 30 senior students attend these are classes regu larly and are working toward an exhibit on Sunday, May 13, as the opening event of the annual Senior Citizens week sponsored by the Rogue Valley Council on Aging. New students are welcome to join either class or both and seniors who are already painters may use the center as a workshop and renew their skills. Guidance Director Will Be Speaker Thomas Goff, director of Child guidance for Jackson county will be guest speaker at a meeting of the Woman's Christian Temperance union Thursday, April 19. The meet ing will open at 1:30 p.m.. and be held in the Fireplace room of the First Presbyte rian church. The speaker will show pic tures concerning his work.
