Catholic Rites fed Pair Miss Jacquelyn Ernestine Skelton became the bride of Lawrence Arthur Brown in a ceremony held April 8 at Sac red Heart Catholic church. The Rev. William McLeod of ficiated at the 1 o'clock after noon rites'attended by 125 rel atives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Skelton, 648 Ross . lane. Mr. Brown's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Car roll E. Brown, 2220 Ruhl Way. White lilies decorated the church altar for the double ring ceremony. The bride wore a . floor length gown of brocaded satin in rose design with long sleeves, scoop neckline and bouffant skirt. The neckline was accented with tulle in serts, pearls and iridescent se quins and a self bow in back at the waistline formed a bustle which terminated In a chapel train. Her fingertip length veil of silk illusion was held by a pearl crown and she carried a bouquet of white carnations and stephan otis encircling a white orchid. Mr. Skelton . escorted his daughter to the altar. t Mrs. Forrest Cook was mat ron of honor and bridesmaids and matron were Miss Pam Gilkison, Miss Karen Stans bury, and Mrs. Robert Guyll, Seattle, sister of the bride groom. They wore dresses of yellow nylon flocked with daisies, matching . hats and white gloves. They carried bouquets of pompon chrysan-' themums. . -.. . Gerald Byrd served as. best man and seating the guests were Mr.- Cook, David Elrod, and Mr Guyll, Seattle.: For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed at the Jackson hotel, . Mrs. Skelton chose a green silk shantung dress with matching jacket with bone white acces sories. Mrs. Brown wore a pink silk linen jacket dress with white accessories. Their corsages were white orchids. ; At the reception Mrs. H. H. Dbrsey, aunt of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake assisted by Mrs. Claude Potts, and Mrs. David Elrod - pre sided at the punch bowl. Miss Ann Barker poured coffee and Miss Diane Lewis was , In charge of the guest book. ", ..- The couple traveled to Port land on their wedding trip, the bride wearing for travel ing a two-piece yellow linen suit with black accessories and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. Thomas McCamant and his family are Invited to attend a farewell reception in their honor this afternoon. It will be held from three to five o'clock in Pilgrim House of Medford. Congregational church, 300 Oakwood drive. The Rev. Mr. McCamant, who has been pastor of the Congregational church for the past several years, is being transferred to Hubbard, Ore., and the family will leave May 1. Award Luncheon Speaker Named ' Mrs. Richard Doi, Ashland,' will, speak for the Merit Award of the Year luncheon planned by Medford Jayce ettes for , May 13 at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Doi is the wife of an assist ant professor of art at South ern Oregon college. Mrs. Doi will wear Japa nese ceremonial dress and will talk about the customs and dress of the women of Japan. ' The merit award of the year will be presented to an outstanding young woman in the community. This, will be the secon d, annual May luncheon. ' . Three organizations of the valley have submitted their nominations for the award, and other groups are urged to do so at once. Deadline for the applications has been set for May 8. Dr. George G. Roseberry officiated at the double ring ceremony held at 8 o'clock in the evening. The bride is the former Lor etta Elva Ayres, daughter of Mr. and Mrs; Elmer V. Ayres, 26 South Orange street. Mr. Turner is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd R. Turner, 1525 Jasper street. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an af ternoon length frock of cotton brocade fashioned with scoop neckline, long sleeves and gathered skirt. Her elbow length veil was held by a flat bow and she carried a bou quet of white carnations and lavender orchids. She wore an opal which was more than 100 years old, a gift from the bridegroom. Miss Billie Carol Brahs, Grenada, Calif., was maid of honor for her cousin. She wore a lavender frock with matching accessories and car ried a bouquet of lavender and white flowers. Little Deb bie C. Brahs, six-year-old cou sin of the: bride from Yreka, Calif., was ring bearer. , She ' 7 4 juL Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis Turner ' (Landis photo) Artist and Illustrator To Exhibit; Reception Set Earl Thollander, San Fran cisco artist and illustrator, will exhibit a number of hi drawings at the Rogue Gal lery, 220 West Main street. ' The-show will open Tues day,' April 25, and continue through Saturday, May 13. Mr. and Mrs. Thollander will be honored at a reception Monday, April 24, at the Gal lery from 8 to 10 p.m. The reception is open to members of the Rogue Valley Art as sociation. , " The show will include a large group of drawings of Norway and Yugoslavia and a selection of oils with subjects including Russia, Mexico and San Francisco. The Rogue Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and is free to the public. Wilburn Dodd Honored Guest A homecoming party honor ing Wilburn K. Dodd, who has just returned from service overseas, was given last week at the home of Mrs. Hazel Middlekauf, 525 Valley View drive. " Slide pictures of Japan were shown to those attending. A outlet luncheon was served and guests spent the rest of the evening dancing. More than 20 guests attended. also wore lavender and car ried a white satin pillow with lavender and white flowers. Gary Bachelor, Ft. Bragg, Calif., cousin of t h e bride groom, served as best man. Leon Reisinger seated the 50 relatives and friends who at tended the ceremony. Lavender and white flowers decorated the altar in Meeker Memorial chapel for the wed ding. Mrs. Ayres chose a black and white checked dress with matching jacket and white ac cessories. Mrs. Turner wore a pink dress and jacket with blue accessories. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Ayres' home. Miss Linda Wicker cut and served the wedding cake. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Frank Brahs and Mrs. William Brahs, aunts of the bride. Miss Sue Chittock was in charge of the guest book and the gifts. The bride attended Medford High school and Southern Oregon college. She is em ployed by Dr. Robert DeLor me. Mr. Turner was graduat ed from Eagle Point High school and attended the Uni versity of Oregon. He is now student at Southern Ore gon college. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ori G. Ayres, Ash land, paternal grandparents, and Mrs. Walter Brahs, Med ford, maternal - grandmother of the bride. , Among the out of, town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Har ry Bachelor and family, Ft. Bragg, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Stewart and family, Auburn, Wash., uncles and aunts of the bridegroom; Mrs. Grace E.
