THURSDAY, APRIL 8 19S1 MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, ORE Hzrvey Aluminum Portland - (IHD -r- Harvey Aluminum Co. has been grant ed a 45-day continuance on a public hearing on alleged- air pollution in The Dalles area. The continuance was grant ed at a special meeting. Tues day after the company prom . ised to cooperate with the slate Sanitary Authority In evaluation of possible air pol lution of the area by the com pany's plant at The Dalles. :., i Fruit growers in the area have complained that trees are being damaged by fumes from the aluminum plant. Harvey agreed to furnish the authority with stack sam ples and the authority's tech nical staff will work with Har vey officials in evaluating samples in the company lab oratory. The lab is being mov ed to Hood River. 6 PROVINCES . Six provinces comprise the present Yugoslavia nation. : Series of Dances Are, Scheduled by DAV A series of dances spon sored by the Jackson county chapter. Disabled American Veterans, will be held Sat urday nights, starting April 8, in the Knights of Pythias hall,. Fifth and Grape sts. Proceeds will help replen ish the rehabilitation fund and establish a special fund by the DAV: for transient in digent veterans. A snack bar will be operated by women of the DAV auxiliary. Pat terson planned to announce in Chicago Thursday the airline's final ' arrangements for con summating the merger of the country's second and fifth largest carriers.. : '. The CAB decision joined Capital's 7,500-mile route sys tem iervlng nearly 60 cities with United's 14,000-mile sys tem going into 82 cities. United is retaining only 41 of Capital's 56 jet-powered Viscounts, . the - only modern aircraft in the latter's fleet. It hopes to sell Capital's DC3s and DC4s and probably will return to Pan American World Airways the seven DC6Bs that Pan-Am has leased to Capital for nearly two years. Will Use Jets .... Eventually, United will dis pose of all Viscounts when it acquires short-range Caravelle and Boeing 727 jetliners.
