BECHTOLD UPI Financial Editor New York -fllPD Business investors found mutual funds to their liking again in 1960, boosting such holdings " by some $10 mil lion. The value of mutual fund holdings by business and lnstltu 1 1 o n s and founda 1 1 o n s anr BccntoH rose to $407, 833,000 last year from $397, 622,000 in 19S9, a survey by the National Association of Investment companies showed. The business organization - corporations, pension plans and labor unions - held $246, 915,000 compared with $235, 119,000 in 1959 and $164, 988,000 in 1958. And the institutions and foundations showed a slight dip in their holdings to $160, 918,000 from $162,503,000 the year before, but they still were well above the 1958 fig ure of $127,910,000. Edge Over Pension Plans . Corporations held a slight edge over the pension plans in the amount of mutual fund holdings, according to the N.A.I.C; survey of 70 of its member Investment compan ies. Holdings of the . corpora tions were valued at $117 261,000 last year, while em ployee pension and profit sharing plans had $109,759, 000 Invested in mutual funds. Insurance companies and other financial Institutions de creased their mutual fund holdings to $16,105,000 . In, 1960 from $19,420,000 in,1959V while labor unions registered a drop In holdings to $3,790; 000 from $3,801,000. . V,;' ' In the Institutions and foun dations category, fraternal, welfare and other public asso ciations boosted their fund holdings to $53,150,000 from $53,300,000 the year before, while churches and religious organizations showed holdings valued at $41,698,000 compar ed with $42,079,000 in 1959.
