TV, Radio Sets Are Attractive The real source of fun at home is often TV, stereo-and radio and home movies. Furniture t o attractively house all these sources of pleasure is making a big splashy debut in the new showings this year. The furni ture industry has made limi ted groups of cabinets prev iously, but this year there's a wider choice as to price and style than ever before. Among the refreshing ideas are cabinets for TV which al low the viewer to watch with out resting his chin on his chest. These new TV cabinets conceal the set when not in use behind handsome doors. Many of the cabinets are designed as companion pieces to stand on top of matching units which house radio and or stereo.. Both upper and lower units have doors which fold back flat against the ends of the cabinets. The TV set is fastened to a sliding shelf near the bot tom of the upper cabinet. For viewing, the shelf is pulled forward, out .of the cabinet. One such arrangement has a swivel so the set may be an gled. This is a boon to pleas ant, easy room arrangement. Outdoor Furniture Moves Into House What,, used to be called "summer furniture," "outdoor furniture" or "porch" furni ture loses its label of season or placement as rattan, wrought iron and rugged woods move from outdoors to indoors and vice versa with equal ease and beauty. ' Today's so-called "summer furniture" rightly takes the nomer of "indoor-outdoor" or casual" furniture as it graces patios, terraces, lanais or sum mer cottages as well as it adapts itself to family rooms, living areas, dinettes and dens. The mood of the Orient and Hawaii are brought to mind by the more sophisticated new pieces. But American fashion plus function are in evidence in plastic table tops, interest-1 ing combinations of wood with rattan, stainless steel or lac quered brass draw pulls. . Scandinavian countries ana Itally have contributed to the form and size of much of this new "casual" furniture. Slim and low lines, similar to much of our most modern indoor wood furniture have been adapted to the newest rattan and metal furniture to take the place of the curly- ques of the past.
