These men say they haven't seen anything to indicate that the taking of slilbcstrol or one of the natural ovarian ex tracts has ever produced can cer. I have here a letter which should be very cheering lo every woman who has to take an ovarian extract for meno pausal flushes and whose doc tor fenrs the medicine. A wo man of 62 says that in 1940, or 20 years ago, she had a hysterectomy with flushes so bad that she had to take ovar ian extracts, Later, she kept taking them when she learn ed that they were keeping her from getting her old rhcuniaiic pains in her knees and ankles. The very inter esting and important point which makes tills case so In structive Is thai at the time of the operation the surgeon iound cancer In Ihe pelvic or gans. In spite of this tenden cy she had lo cancer forma tion, for 20 years she has tak en ovarian extracts without cttinu any return o f the rowth. Of course she will; but how wrong it would be to deprive her of their great help. Now the world to her is just a blur with the glasses it will come alive; she will see its beau ties; she will recogize her friends, and she will be able to read comfortably. Why then should the child ever want lo give up her beloved and precious glasses? I my self have worn glasses for 67 years. Have they done me any harm? No; they have made a bookish life possible lo me. Without them,' the world to me is a blur; (but to day it is no worse a blur than it was when I was a boy. People say the same thing about a Rearing a i d. They don't want to get one for their deaf child because they say he'll love il, and won't want lo give il up. Of course, he won't want to give it up, II will make a dead and sound less world become interesting. Here on my desk is a letter from a woman who hates to let her young son have much needed insulin for his diabe tes. She says he may become habituated to it. He probably will, and why? Because with it he will feel well and he will live; without it he will soon feel awful, and then may easily die. Of course, he will love insulin, even if he hates the prick of the hypodermic syringe. Here comes a woman ill with pernicious anemia. She says she hates to start on liver extract and VB 12. She asks "Won't I then have to use the medicine all my days?" "Yes," say I, "But without il you will probably get weak er and weaker until you die. So far as I can see, you have no choice." No; we must not fear using a safe appliance or medicine that will enrich life and great ly lengthen it.
