Local Ice Cream Wins Competition Larry Schaecher of Larry's Rich Maid, 415 North River side ave., Medford, won first place in catering and a gold medal in regular vanilla ice cream in competition in West Lynn earlier this week. The competition is spon sored by the Northwest Asso ciation of Retail Ice Cream manufacturers, and includes ice cream samples from retail outlets in Oregon, Washing ton, Idaho and Utah. The Ashland Rich Maid store placed second in regular ice cream, and Homer's Rich Maid store, Grants Pass, was second in catering ice cream. Schaecher said representa tives of the association person ally take samples of the ice cream from the display coun ters for competition.
