Each valley chapter chooses a Val entine girl, and the queen was selected by chance. The bride-elect is a student at Medford High school. Her fiance attended Crater High school and is employed by ' Mike's Cabinet shop, Beau mont, Calif. A June wedding is planned. ' 1095 J jean 617 E. Main Chapter Initiates Medford Student William H. Clinkinbeard, a student at Oregon State col lege, was recently initiated into Psi chapter of Alpha Sig ma Phi fraternity. Young Clinkinbeard, a freshman in electrical engi neering, is a graduate of Med ford High school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Clinkinbeard, 2116 Woodlawn drive, Medford. Psi chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi was founded at OSC in 1920: the fraternity was founded in 1845 at Yale uni versity. Windsors Away Ashland' - Mr. and Mrs. F. L. JVhitehousc-Sandci'son IVedding Ceremony Held Happy Camp - Miss Sandra Lea Sanderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence San derson, Happy Camp, became the bi;ide of Gary Edgar Whitehouse, son of Mrs. Flor ence Whitehouse and Edgar Whitehouse.iHappy Camp, in a morning ceremony February 12. The ceremony was perform ed at the Community church, Happy Camp, by the Rev. Vir gil Terry at 11 o'clock. Wed ding music was played on the organ by Mrs. Terry. Maid of honor was Miss Janet Karjala, Prospect, Ore, She wore a blue ballerina length nylon dress and her flowers were pink carnations. Candlelighters were Karen and Barry Karjala, twins, also Prospect. Darrell McWilliams was best man for his uncle. Seat ing the guests were Bruce Kir by and Frank McLane. The bride's mother chose a printed lilac suit with beige accessories. Mrs. Whitehouse wore a grey suit with white accessories. Their corsages were gardenias. White carnations and dollar plants decorated the church and the rooms at the Buck horn lodge where the recep tion was held following the ceremony. Mrs. M. O. Ellis cut and served the wedding cake and Miss Dcanna James and Miss LaBeth Stanford presided at the punch bowls. Pouring cof fee was Miss Kathy Oveross. Mrs. Lawrence Sanderson, Shady Cove, Ore., sister-in-law of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. Miss Sue Coleman. Seiad, and Miss Vir ginia Harnclen were at the gift tables. The couple drank a wed ding toast from a pair of an tique wine glasses presented ; them by Mrs. James Welch, ; Central Point, Ore. For her traveling attire the bride wore a blue wool suit with white accessories. They are making their home in Happy Camp. The bride attended Prospect and Happy Camp High schools. The bridegroom at tended local schools and is em ployed by M. O. Ellis, logging contractor. Other out of town guests attending the wedding and re ception were Lawrence San derson, Shady Cove, brother of the bride; Mrs. Lewis Stevenson, Prospect; and Mrs. Paul Struck and children, Yvonne and Vern, Prospect. Students Guests Gold Hill-Students who at tend the University of Oregon from out of stale were among week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mclvin Burnett, Upper river road. They are Miss Betty Aceid, Menlo Park, Calif., and S. Jordan, Berke ley, Calif. The Burnett's daughter. Miss Donna Bur nett, a student at the Univer sity and their son, Bruce Bur nett, a student at Oregon State college, were home. On Sunday the Burnetts en tertained at a dinner for their guests. Others included Miss Barbara Walters. Central Point and .Mr. and Mrs. Law rence Smith, Gold Hill. In Redding McLeod Mrs. Harry Hard ing is spending a few weeks in Redding. Calif., with friends. Professor To Speak Dr. Frank Munk, pro' sjr of political science. Reed col lege, Portland, will speak at a meeting of Rogue River Val ley Knife and Fork club Thursday, March 9. His topic will be "Behind and Beyond the Iron Curtain." Reservations for the din ner, which will be at Rogue Valley Country club at 6.45 p.m., must be made by Mon day, March H, with Mrs. Rich ard House. Dr. Munk returned to Reed college in 1946 after a five year absence, and since that time has also served in many other capacities. In 1957 he led a seminar to the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East, interviewing such lead ers as Nehru and U Nu of Burma. In 1956 he took one of the first American study tours of tlie Soviet Union and its satellites. From 1958 to 1960 he has served as advisor on Intellec tual Cooperation to Radio Free Europe in Munich, Ger- Miss Lowry Is Finalist Miss Linda Lowry, daugh ter of Mrs. O. E. Blacking ton, 1620 East Jackson boule vard, is a semi-finalist in the "Little Captain" contest 1 1 the University of Oregon. Miss Lowry, a freshman in foreign languages, represents Pi Beta Phi social sorority in the contest. Pershing Rifles, national Reserve Officers Training corps drill fraternity, spon sors the annual event and the girl chosen winner will be announced March 31 at the Little Captain's ball in the Student Union ballroom. County Belles Plan Luncheon A meeting and luncheon of Jackson County Cow Belles will be held at 11 a.m. Feb ruary 23 at the home of Mrs. John Horner, highway 238, six and one-half miles west of Ruch. All members are to bring guests to the meeting. Apple gate members will provide the luncheon main dish and Lake Creek, Ashland, Central Point and Medford members are to furnish the dessert and sal ad. Mrs. Richard Heines and Mrs. Don Bradshaw will pro vide rolls. District representatives of the group are Mrs. David Woolfolk, Lake Creek; Mrs. Clayton Charley, Medford; Mrs. Don Nichols, Ashland; and Mrs. Rolland Smith, Ap plegate. Visitors Spend Week End Here Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Bullis, Whittier, Calif., are spending the week end at the home of his sister, Miss Helen Bullis, and, brother, Seth Bul lis, 15 Florence avenue. She will compete with out standing women from other state chapters at the state con vention to be held in April in Coos Bay. Mrs. Richard Harrison and Mrs. William Riggert were also named in the chapter con test. All three women were presented with corsages by Mrs. Delbert Cantrall and Mrs. Chester Peterson. The meeting was held at Ihe home of Mrs. Fischer and was followed by work on the Easter Seal envelopes and re freshments. Couple Returns After Vacation Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Buffing- ton. Campbell road, returned last week from a 20-day vaca tion in Mexico. Among the places visited by the couple were Mexico City, Acapuleo, and Guadalajara. While in Mexico City they were with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Polk, former Medford resi dents now making their home there, and Mr. Buffington's sister. Miss Prudence Buffing ton. Miss Bufington and her roommate, Mrs. Carter Dun can, sister-in-law of Robert Duncan, Medford, are stu dents at Mexico City college. Mrs. Duncan's home is in Massachusetts. NO. 4B7 Sister City Program Topic For Medford Women's Club Background on the Sister City program and facts about Medford's Sister city - Alba. Italy-were reviewed Thurs day evening by Omar Bacon at the February meeting of the Medford Business and Pro fessional Women's club. Mr. Bacon, librarian for the Public Library of the Med ford and Jackson county, is chairman of the services com mittee for the Sister City pro gram. He was appointed by Mayor John W. Snider last year. He closed his talk by list ing a number of ways that Medford residents may assist the program. He stressed the importance of learning the language, mentioning that Italian language records are available at the public li brary. He encouraged Med ford residents who plan lo travel in Europe to add Alba on their itinerary and asked others to promote exchang ing exhibits between the two cities. Prior to the talk members and guests displayed articles they had brought which were from Italy and gave a brief history about each.
