Richard Edward Shepherd, whose wedding took place in Carmel, Calif., last month, are shown during the reception Newlyweds At Home In California Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ed ward Shepherd, married Jan uary 22 in Carmel, Calif., are making their home in that city. Mrs. Shepherd is the for mer Miss Evelyne Luxem, Carmel, daughter of Mrs. Leon Montgomery, Oak Knoll, Seaside, Calif., and the bride groom is a son of Mrs. Robert W. Shepherd, 867 Murphy road, Medford, and the late Mr. Shepherd. The wedding ceremony . took place at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Church of the Wayfarer in Carmel, with Dr. K. Fillmore Gray offici ating. The bride wore a white bro caded sheath frock with over skirt, square neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. Her headdress was a short veil trimmed with a flat rib bon bow and she carried a bouquet of miniature red roses and stephanotis encirc ling a white orchid. Mrs. John Robinson, Car mel Valley, was matron of honor. She wore a purple silk sheath with black accessories and a small hat. Her flowers were gardenias. ' Robert W. Shepherd Jr., San Rafael, Calif., was best man for his brother. A reception honoring the couple was given by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Penoyer at their home, Rancho Rio Vista, Car mel. Among those present for the wedding and reception were the mothers of the bride and bridegroom and Mrs. Rob ert W. Shepherd Jr., sister-in-law of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. George Austin Shep herd and their daughter, Su. san Walnut Creek, Calif, un cle, aunt and cousin of the bridegroom. The bride, born in Dinslak en, Germany, has been in the United States four years. She attended high school in Hoff hcim, Germany, the Seminar Kimphenhausen in Bavaria, a private school, and Cosmet ology school in Frankfurt, Germany. The bridegroom, a grad uate of Medford High school, attended the University of Oregon where he was a mem ber of Chi Psi fraternity. He is associated with the La Piaya hotel and the Carmel Valley inn, and the newlyweds are living at the La Playa. Travis Cross To Speak Here Travis Cross, administra tive assistant to Gov. Mark O. Dow Inskcep, membership and telephone; Mrs. Richard FEBRUARY 19, 1961 Senior Artists Announce Exhibit and Tea Sunday A senior artisls exhibit and benefit tea will be given Sun day afternoon, February 26 from 1 to 5 o'clock at the Senior Activity center, 601 East Jackson street. It will be given by the members of the advanced art class whose teacher is Mrs. Victoria Stalcy. Starting last March, this group has been painting each week under Mrs. Staley's direction. All the teachers at the center vol unteer their time. The Center is sponsored by the Rogue Val ley Council of Aging, and is located in a small room in a city park building., The exhibit and silver tea will be the first benefit given by members using the center to add to the center building fund which will be used to build or acquire larger and more adequate quarters. He has studied under Fernando Leger in Paris and has give one man shows at the Portland Art museum, Salem Art Museum Bush house, Koruba gallery, Portland, Harvey Welchs, and the Salem Federal Art center. " now Scottish Rite Women Hold Annual Valentine Party More than 100 members and their husbands attended the Scottish Rite Women's club annual Valentine party Mon day at the Masonic temple. Past presidents were pre sented a heart shaped corsage of red net and white daisies. Mrs. Fred Graten was chair man. Table decorations were hearts, red candles and pussy willows. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Root won a prize for having been married the longest among the couples present. Other prizes were won by Mrs. E. P. Stone, Mrs. G. F. Carleton and Merritt Swing. Cards were played with prizes going to Mrs. Harry Nbrdwick for bridge and Mrs. Gertrude Winningham and Mrs. E. P. Stone for pinochle. Graten Marriage News Announced Here Announced last week was the marriage of Mrs. Beatrice Serwat, Pasadena, Calif., to Walter H. Leverette, Medford. The ceremony took place Sun day, February 12, in the chapel of First Methodist church, Reno, Nev., with the Rev. Richard Kissee officiat ing. The event was held by Gov. and Mrs. Mark Hatfield at their home in honor of Dr. Leon P. Mi near, new superintendent of public instruction for the state, and Mrs. Minear. Mrs. Hamilton is a member of the Oregon State Board of Education. More than 600 state educators attended the afternoon function. For the event Mrs. Hatfield chose a champagne chiffon dress with jacket. Mrs. Minear wore a seafoam blue brocade frock. Arrangements of red, white and blue flowers were used throughout the Hatfield home for the tea. ' Leaves Ashland - Mrs. Viola Behm left Tuesday for her home in Grafton, Wis., after spending the past 10 days with Mrs. Victor Flint, 228 B street.
