C 15 fall Sportswear Becomes Diverse, More Important Spring-Summer Sizes Make Greater Gains A size range that met with spring-summer success makes still greater fall gains. Termed "junior petite," these proportioned sizes are intended for a particular type of young figure. Height of five feet one or under and short waistedness are two charac teristics. New, Ail-Around Fur Styles Add To Fall Impact bone to bolero. Mobile cape lets and global capes rival stoles. Dramatically execu ted full-length coats highlight beautiful pelts, while the three - quarter and seven eighths length coats increase. Mink continues the popular favorite, but there are now more advocates for versatility and individuality, as design ers entice the fur-seeker with furs from every part of the world. For fun and excitement, there is the spotted look in ocelot, leopard, cheetah and jaguar from Africa and Mex ico - and for a dramatic geo metrical change, the stripes of the tiger and the civet cat. Furs that give the fluffy, bulky look are found in Aus tralian opossum, foxes from the United States and Canada, and Saga Norwegian blue fox. Every season, sportswear becomes more diverse, and occupies a more and more Important place in the femi nine wardrobe. This fall is jDO exception. Vl Established favorites - scp ' arates, blouses, sweaters, skirts, car coats, pants, knits ' - cover the whole range of ' fashion in styles and colors. -New entrants appear - cu , lottes and knickers for ex ample. Furry pile composes many short coats and jackets. Fashioned for Fun Among the sportsy cover ings that are fun as well as fashion to wear are cape jackets and ponchos - in warm fabrics to slip over the head. While many separates still match or coordinate their col ors, trims and prints, more attention is going to separates that employ contrasting col ors and fabrics. In the midst of the move ment to more fluidity in styl ing, pants stay slim. Their chief competition this fall comes from culottes, divided Fur adds to the fashion im pact of coats, suits, dresses and costumes. Fur enlivens sportswear, enriches acces sories, hats, and even lingerie and loungewear. And, natur ally, nowhere is the fashion interest in fur more apparent than in the fall collections of fur coats, jackets, stoles and capes. Silhouettes are new, with shapes varying - gentle, grad ual, semi-fitted, wide, narrow. The princess line lightly de fines the figure. The cape coat shows back fullness, with a front that may be flat or fitted. The soft coat is full across the back and tapers to a straight hemline. The slim coat, with mandarin lines, makes sophistication of sim plicity. Collars range from none to deep cape collars that can be pulled up into hoods, while sleeves are generally short, wider and uncuffed. How ever, the sweater story does n't stop there. Longer sweat ers are new - and so are shorter, cropped sweaters. Bulky, shaggy sweaters; smoothly knitted sweaters with dressmaker details; sweaters with jacquard, pais ley, plaid and other patterns; almost-classic sweaters and evening - elegant sweaters share the limelight. Car coats and jackets take part in the fashion fervor for fur, with trims, linings, hoods of fur or fur-look pile fabrics.
