BIG Y FEED & SEED CO. 1948 North Pacific Hi way Phone SP 3-3160 Two New Stores In Downtown Area Hold Openings Three modern new store fronts have appeared on Main st. in downtown Medford Two of those stores held their openings Thursday. The two stores which opened Thursday are the John Nuich Credit Jewelers, 231 East Main St., and Parker Woods Leons, next door to Andys Jewelers, also on Main st. Andy's plans to hold its opening in September. John Nuich, manager of the credit jewelers, has been in Medford for the past five years. Following his service with the Marines in World War II, he spent ten years with a large credit jewelry firm. One of the interesting items about the new store is the corrugated acoustical tile that has been used for the ceiling. Nuich says that he thinks that this is the first time it has been used in southern Oregon. Parker Woods is both an older and newer resident of Medford than Nuich. Woods opened the Leon's store here in Medford in 1945. When the Leon's chain broke up, about ' four years ago, he purchased the Med ford store. Former M and M Building Now the store has moved to the building which once housed the M and M depart ment store. Woods said that everything possible has been done to make the store spa cious and airy. : One of the most practical features, he said, is the park and shop lot in the rear. An entrance and display window front on the lot. This entrance in the rear is a feature that more of the stores will adopt, he said. The .new store carries a full line of fall women's wear. The old store on Cen tral ave. will remain open for the summer clearance sale, Woods said.
