'4 I Mr Beverly Burgoyne Wed To Gerald Loren Young and Mrs. Daniel Turner (Knackstedt photo) Methodist Rites W ed Couple Eagle Point - Miss Sandra Ruth Smith became the bride of Daniel Turner in a service held Saturday, July 30, in First Methodist church, Med ford. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Hardy B. Smith, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr, and Mrs, O. W. Turner, all ol Eagle Point. Dr. George Roseberry offi ciated for the double-ring rites, held at eight o'clock in the evening. About 150 guests were present. Dwight W. McCorkle, Eagle Point, escorted his niece and gave her in' marriage. She wore a gown of white Schiffli embroidered tulle over taffe ta and ,uffled net. The very full skirt was of redingote style with scallops edging the overskirt and the fitted bodice was fashioned with long sleeves and Sabrina neckline. Her elbow-length veil was held by a coronet of pearls and brilliants and she carried white carnations centered with a lavendar orchid. Miss Carolyn McAnulty, Alderwood Manor, Wash., was her cousin's honor at tendant and bridesmaids were Miss Molly Gregg, Eagle Point, and Miss JoAnn Nolan, Shady Oove. Miss McAnulty's gown was of seafoam green taffeta fashioned with por trait collar and full skirt and she carried pink gladiolus. The bridesmaids wore simi lar frocks of pink chiffon with full skirts and puffed sleeves, and they also carried pink gladiolus. Teresa Rae Barritt, Eagle Point, niece of the bride groom, was flower girl and Gary Turner, nephew of the bridegroom, carried the rings. Teresa's long frock was of blue-flowered white organza and she carried a basket of petals. Robert G. Turner, Sams Valley, was best man for his jean hartV Central Point Miss Bever ly Ann Burgoyne, daughter oi Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. Burgoyne, Old Stage road, Central Point, became the bride of Gerald Loren Young in a ceremony August 1 at First Presbyterian church, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Selma Young, 3839 Military road. The afternoon service was read by the Rev. D. Floyd Barnett, Grants Pass, retired Presbyterian minister who formerly lived in Rogue Riv er. Approximately 100 guests witnessed the double - ring ceremony, which was per formed in a setting of pink and cream colored gladioli and ferns. The bride, escorted by her TEXTURE AND TONE... TOGETHER IN MATCHMATES brother. Darrold Barritt, also a brother of the bridegroom, and Jack Caswell, a broth-r- in-law from San Dimas, Calif., seated the guests. Maynard Hadley was solo ist for the wedding. Baskets of pink and white gladiolus decorated the church, and white bows were on the pew ends. The reception which fol lowed was in the church re ception rooms. Miss Norma Noble and Mrs. Robert Turner cut the wedding cake and Mrs. Dwight W. McCorkle, aunt of the bride, poured cof fee. Miss Patricia McCue, Cen tral Point, and Mrs. Darrold Barritt poured punch. Miss Delberta Spain, Shady Cove, took charge of the gift table and Miss Connie Gregg, Eagle Point, the lest book. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a two-piece dress of pale blue lace with, white accessories and pink and white carnation corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a two-piece dress of orchid linen with white accessories a".d pink and white carnations. For the wedding trip the bride wore a while pique sheath dress with white feath ered hat. Mr. Turner and his bride are living in Milwaukee, Ore., for the summer weeks and will return to Medford in the fall. The bride attended school in Edmonds, Wash., and Eagle Point and the bride groom attended Los Angeles and Eagle Point schools. Mrs. Earl Hobbs Returns to City Mrs. Earl Hobbs, 4117 Hil- singer road, returned recently from Honolulu, Hawaii, where she spent a month with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Richards and children. The Richards have been making their home on the Island for the past two years. Mr, Richards, assigned to the U.S.S. Kawishiwi, is on a . Pacific cruise. While in Honolulu, Mrs. Hobbs visited all parts of the islands and attended a luau. She was in Honolulu at the lime of President Eisenhow er's visit. Meeting Set Active members of Gamma Phi Beta sorority will be guests of Miss Carolyn Carr for a social meeting to be held Monday, August 15, at the home of Miss Carr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carr, 16 Florence avenue. Friends Attend Wedding In Boise Monday Relatives and friends of Donald Statey are in Boise, Ida., this week end to attend the wedding of Miss Ellen Dian Flack and Mr. Staley. The rites are set for Monday, August 15, at Saint Michael's Cathedral in Boise, and the reception will be held at Hill crest Country club. Mr. Staley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Staley, left Friday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Sta ley Jr., and their children. Michael and Marc, New York City. The New York family arrived in the valley earlier in the week. Also in Boise for the wed ding are Mr. and Mrs. James Ragland and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bosworth. Thomi s Staley Jr., Mr. Ragland and Mr. Bos-zorth are all to be in the wedding parly. Mr. Staley and his bride plan to make their home in the Rogue valley. Miss Flack is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Percy Gill Flack. Wedding News Of Interest Here Of interest here is news of the wedding in Seattle August 7 of Edna May McLeod, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Davenport, Bend, to Don ald R, MacKensie, Seattle, The bride has been employed at the First National Bank of Oregon, Medford branch, the past five years. The bridegroom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. A. MacKensie. The Rev. Robert B, Shaw performed the double ring ceremony at 12:30 o'clock in Grace Methodist church. Miss Sofia Turner was maid of honor and Hiss May MacKen sie, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. The bride wore a powder blue lawn afternoon dress. It was designed with a fitted bodice, embroidered with white daisies, and a full skirt. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, delphiniums and sprigs of myrtle. Her attendants wore tailor ed frocks of pink lawn with corsages of carnations, del phiniums and myrtle. The wedding party attend ed a dinner at Crawford's Sea : Grill, Seattle, following the ceremony. The bride is a graduate of Bend High school. Mr. Mac Kensie was graduated from Broadway High school, Seat tle and is employed by Beth lehem Steel corporation, Se attle. They are making their h oui e at 230 22nd street. South, Seattle. Sergeant Returns After Tokyo Duty Sgt. Charles W. Cook and his family have returned from Tokyo, Japan, where the ser geant has been on duty with the United States Army. The sergeant has been assigned to duty at Ft. Lewis, Wash., and his family is residing at 528 South Fir street In Medford, father, wore a white lace gown of ballerina length. The neckline was trimmed with pearls and sequins and a pearl cap held her elbow - length double veil. Mrs. Robert Harland, Cres cent City, a cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Sue Palmer, Portland, and Miss Kathie Link, Cald well, Idaho, schoolmates of the bride, were bridesmaids. Mrs. Harland wore a gown of embroidered blue organza with bouffant skirt and car ried a nosegay of pale pink asters and stephanotis. The bridesmaids wore light blue organza gowns of similar style and carried nosegays of pale pink asters and rosebuds. Nanette and Pamela Bur goyne, sisters of the bride, were candlclighters. Miss Cheryl Ghelardt sang. David Peterson, Eugene, was best man and Gordon Carrigan, Ashland, and Jerry R. Conner were ushers. A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's table, which was placed on the patio, was cen tered with a wedding cake given by the bridegroom's un cle, Glenn Young, Crescent City. -The young couple and the bride's attendants receiv ed guests under the oak trees. Refreshments were served in the garden. Relatives of the bride who traveled from out of town for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bowman, uncle and aunt, and Mr. and Mrs. Rogr Bowman, cousms, Albany; Mrs. Harvey Sallee, San Ma teo, Caaf,, her grandmother; Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas, Mountain View, Calif., uncie and aunt; Mr. and Mrs. Max- imtliiart B. Sanchez, Alamo, Calif., uncle and aunt, and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Harland, Crescent City, Calif., cousms. Relatives of the bridegroom attending included William Harlow, Harrison, Idaho, his grandfather; Mr. and Mrs, Glen Voting, Crescent City, uncle and aunt, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Young, cous ins. Crescent City; and Mr. and Mrs. James Young, Ar eata, Calif., ms brother and sister-in-law. Other out-of-town guests in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shaw, Astoria; Mr. and Mrs, j George Rambo, Hoseburg; and Mr. and Mrs. David Pedersen, Miss Laura Williams and Mrs, Maude Port, all of Eugene. The young couple will make their home in Corvallis after September 1 and the bride groom will teach part-time at Oregon State college while working .toward his master's degree. Mrs. Carolyn Bowles, Port- Couple Returns From Trip North Mr. and Mrs. Clay M. Lee, Cargill court, have returned from a vacation spent in Canada. They travelled to Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancou ver, B.C, Lake Loutse, Banff National park, the Columbia ice fields, and Jasper Nation al Park. The Less made the two and a half mile trip up the Gla cier in a snowmobile, at the ice fields; and took the chair lift ride to the top of Mount Norquay in Banff. In Vancouver they visited the Elizabeth Sunken gardens and in Victoria the world fa mous Butchart gardens.
