It ft rv i a If 1 V 1 J J MJk Parties Honor Bride-Elect; Rites Saturday Miss Carol Jean Dyke was honored at two recent parties. The marriage of Miss Dyke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene W. Dyke, 21 South Keene way, to Robert Charles Gewiss of Eugene, Ore., was' set for yesterday afternoon in the Westminster Presbyterian church. Miss Denise Binning and Mrs. Earl D. Bruning honored Miss Dyke at a shower held at the Bruning's home on Old Military road. The bride-to-be was presented gifts for her new home. Mrs. Clyde Ramsey, 130 Highland drive, was hostess for a party last Tuesday night which honored Miss Dyke. She was presented kitchen equipment and "gadgets" for her home. The bride's two grandmoth ers, Mrs. John Dyke and Mrs. Seth Maxwell, both of Baker, Ore., arrived in Medford last week to attend the wedding. I Mil. Church will leave by plane today for Syra cuse, N.Y,, after spending some time here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Church, 301 Hamilton street. The young man was honor ed at a dinner parly Sunday, August 7. Guests we. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simpson, Eu gene, Miss Ellyn Hawley, Se attle, and Mr. and Mrs. James Porter. Mrs. Simpson and Donald Church are cousins. Mr. Church will make the trip east by jet plane. Meeker Memorial chapel of the First Methodist church was the setting Saturday after noon, August 6, for the mar riage of Miss Marilyn Mullen to John Nelson Snowden Jr., of Hanford, Calif. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Mullen of North Barneburg road, Medford, and the bridegroom i parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson Snowden of Hanford. The 4:30 o'clock ceremony was performed by the Rev Melvin Dixon, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist church. A program or nuptial music was presented by the Rev. G. Rob ert Jacks and Miss Sue Donna Doolen. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father,. wore a gown of white silk organdy fashioned with empire cum- .' merbund and a princess style afternoon length skirt, Re 1 embroidered Alencon lace ac cented the Sabrlna neckline and deml-sleeves. Her finger- , tip veil of silk illusion was draped from a tiny coronet of white orange blossoms, and he carried a cascade bouquet of stephanotis and white car nations. Mrs, Raymond A. Ritter Jr., St. Louis, Mo., cousin of the bride, was the honor attend ant and Mrs. Brian B. Mullen, the bride's sister-in-law, was brldesmatron. Their after noon length gowns of honey suckle yellow organdy had Sabrina necklines, tiny cap sleeves and full skirts. Matching cummerbunds of amber yellow taffeta gathered into butterfly bows in the back. Both carried colonial bouquets of marguerites arid wore matching coronets In their hair. Serving as best man was Charles Rossen, of Davis, Calif., and groomsman was Brian B. Mullen, brother of the bride. John Owens Mul len and Jay Carlton Mullen, also brothers of the bride, served as ushers. Baskets filled wilh white gladiolus decorated the chan cel and gladiolus arranged with greenery adorned the communion rail. White bows decorated the pew ends. A reception was held In the garden of the Mullen home with Mesdames G. T. Haupert and Stewart Milne and Miss Carolyn Mcncke assisting. For receiving the guests, Mrs. Mullen wore a shell pink or gandy sheath with matching accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Snowden left afterwards for a wedding, trip to San Francisco and Carmel and will be at home in Sacra mento, Calif., after August 20. For traveling the bride chose a porcelain blue cotton sheath with matching access ories. The former Miss Mullen Is a gradimte of Southeast Mis souri State college In Cape Gi rardeau, Mo., and for the past three years has taught school In Roscburg, Ore., and Sacramento. Mr. Snowden Is an alunvj nus of Fresno State college I and served four years in the United States Air Force. He taught In Sacramento for the past year. Out-of-town guests for the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. John L. Wescoat, Chpc Girardeau, Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond A. Rlltcr Jr., St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rosson, Davis, Cnlif.; Mrs. Ro berta Touchette, Sacramento, and the Messrs Arthur Gnltan and Bill Hobbs, Hanford. Roberts-PTitter Rites Held An event of Saturday, Au gust 6, was the wedding of Miss Donna Louise Witter to Barry James Roberts. The marriage ceremony took place at four o'clock in the after noon at First Presbyterian church here, with about 125 relatives and friends attending. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Wit ter, 843 West Second street; and the bridegroom is a son of James Brunt, Norwich, Eng land. Dr. D. Kirkland West of ficiated for the marriage rites, and Mr. Witter gave his daughter in marriage. The bride's gown of white silk organza was fashioned with a billowing skirt which ended in a chapel length train. The scoop neckline was out lined with lace, tiny sequins and seed pearls, and her veil was held by a crown of white orange blossoms. The bride carried white stephanotis and yellow roses. Mrs. Richard McGuire was honor attendant and Miss Pa tricia Fitzsimmons, Portland, was bridesmaid. Their frocks were of pale yellow silk or ganza designed with sweet heart necklines, empire waists trimmed with bows and full skirts. Each carried a spray of Ester Reed .daisies. Escorts Mother Jerry M. Witter, the bride's brother was best man, and ushers were Noel Johnson, Portland; A. E. Reinking, Jacksonville, cousin of the bride. Young Terry Witter, the bride's brother, escorted his mother. The Rev. Robert Jacks sang preceding the ceremony, with Douglas Cummlngs at the or gan. Baskets ot yellow and white gladioli provided a set ting for the wedding party, and candelabra held white tapers. The pew ends were decorated with satin bows. The reception was held at Shower Honors Miss Gilinsky Miss Joyce Gilinsky was honored at a kitchen bridal shower August S at the home of Mrs. Floyd Lawson Sr., 1418 Reddy avenue. Mrs. Richard Hubler was co-host- s. Miss Gilinsky, daughter of Mrs. Leona Gilinsky, is the bride-elect of Robert Charles Glover, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Glover, Medford. Sixteen friends attended the evening party. Bouquets of paisley - colored zinnias and petunias and white candles decorated the rooms. Prizes were won by Mrs. Gilinsky and Mrs. F. A. Daugherty. Others attending were Mrs. C. H. Reinking and Mrs. Donald Wendt, Jacksonville, Mrs. Noel Johnson and Miss Edith Roberts, Portland, cut and served the cake. Mrs. Patrick Mahoney, White City and Mrs. Philip Anthony, Ap plegate, Calif., aunt of the bride, served punch. Mrs. Richard Copple, the former Delora Dunn, took charge of the guest book. Among the wedding guests fwere Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rob erts, Portland, sponsors of the bridegroom who substituted as his parents. Mrs. Roberts wore a' light blue eyelet em broidery frock and a corsage of yellow rosebuds and steph anotis. The bride's mother was attired in a lime brocade sheath worn with white acces sories and her corsage was also of yellow rosebuds and stephanotis. - Guests Listed Other guests who came from a distance were the Noel Johnson's small daugh ter, Lesley, Portland; Miss Marleta Henderson and Mrs. Eleanora Leitch, Spokane, Wash.; Joseph Martin, Oak land, Calif., uncle of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. George Cormany, Anaheim, Calif.; Virgil Stonecypher and Miss Virginia Stonecypher, Port land. The newlywed pair traveled to San Francisco for their wedding trip, the bride wear ing a black and white suit with black patent leather ac cessories. The couple will live at 6722 Northeast Tillamook, Portland. The bride, a gradu ate of Medford high school and Whitworth college, Spo kane, is an elementary school teacher in the P a r k r ojs e schools, Portland. The bride groom, until recently with the British Royal Marine band, is now a proofreader for the Portland Oregonian. Mrs. Marie Lindaeur, secre tary of the school" where the bride teaches, was hostess for a party in her honor. Mrs. Patrick Mahoney and Mrs. Lynn Jenkins were hostesses for a linen shower August 3, and Mrs. George Maddox and Mrs. R. A. Brewer gave a shower July 28 for the former Miss Witter. The rehearsal dinner Au gust 5 was given by the bride's cousins, the A. E. Reinkings, on the patio of their Laurel heights home in Jacksonville. Twenty four guests were present. Family Arrives' From Illinois , Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Cook and children, Rick, Arlene, Catherine and Barbara, have arrived in the valley from Mundelein,. 111., to visit Mr. Cook's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Cook, 153 Sixth street. Mr. Cook, now a chief petty officer in the Navy, is a graduate of Medford High school. Last Sunday a family re union was held in honor of the visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Arbogast, Medford. Mrs. Arbogast is a sister of the Navy man. Oth ers present were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vincent and family and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Konopa sek and family. The vistors will be here un til August 23. 1 Visitors Leave Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Whitt, Billings, Mont., left Saturday after a visit with Mrs. Whitt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Reichenbach, 315 North Peach street, and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Van Gordon, 1117 Vawter road. Mrs. Whitt and Mrs. Van Gordon are sisters. The Whitts made the trip by private plane. Visitors Leave After Stay Here Mrs. Edward J. Dierauf, Tenafly, N.J., and her son Thomas Dierauf, Tappahan nock, Va., have returned east after a short stay in the val; ley. They were here for tha wedding of Mrs. Dierauf's son, Edward John Dierauf Jr., Berkeley, Calif., to Miss Ver ity Louise Day, daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. Earl Benjamin Day Jr., Gold Rey.
