The bride is the for mer Miss Sherri Jean Doe, daughter of Mrs. Karen Hend- rickson, Medford, and James H. Doe, Springfield. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lindsey, Med ford. . : The Rev. Fred O. Sapp Jr. officiated at the evening cere mony Thursday, July 14. One hundred friends and relatives attended. - Mrs. Gertrude Shide, grand mother of the bride, was or ganist and the Rev. Mr. Sapp sang a traditional German wedding song. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a princess style gown of ivory bridal satin with full-length sleeves and a fitted lace jacket. Her elbow-length veil was held by a seed pearl tiara Her gown was made by her aunt, Mrs. Paul Doe. Her veil was loaned by a cousin, Mrs. Guy Parker. She carried a colonial bouquet of sweet peas centered -with a corsage of pink rosebuds. Miss Kay Hendrickson, sis ter of the bride and honor at tendant, wore a buttercup yel low sheer nylon frock. She carried a colonial bouquet of white sweet peas centered with yellow rosebuds and wore a matching headband of yellow rosebuds, Ted Lindsey was best man for his brother. Patrick Ston- er, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Serving as ushers and candlelighters were Neil Stoner, Applegate, and Bruce Matheny, Jacksonville, uncle of the bride. For the event Mrs. Hend rickson wore a beige prin cess style faille dress and her corsage was of yellow rose buds. The bridegroom's mo ther was unable to attend be cause of illness. Mrs. Leonard McKee, Jack sonville, was in charge of flowers. A reception followed the ceremony. Pink and white gar lands and baskets of pastel garden blossoms decorated the church reception room. Assisting were Mrs. Paul Doe and Mrs. Mel Steinbech, Med iord and Klamath Falls, aunts of the bride, who served cake; Mrs. Wendell Matheny and Mrs. Paul Matheny, Jackson ville, cousins of the bride, who poured punch: and Mrs. Donald Stoner and Mrs. Bruce Matheny, Jacksonville, aunts of the bride, who were at the gift table. Miss Teri Steinbech, Med- ford and Klamath Falls, cous in of the bride, had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Neil Stoner assisted with the flow ers. The bridegroom is a gradu ate of Eagle Point High school and is employed at DcLeigh Motors. He is an active mem ber of the topographical unit of the local Army Reserve unit. The bride is a member of the 1961 class of Medford High school The young couple traveled to the San Francisco area for their honeymoon Out-of-town guests at the wedding included Mrs. Rich ard Doe and daughter, Donna, Eugene, aunt and cousin of the bride; Mrs. James H. Doe Springfield; and Jimmy Stein bech, Medford and Klamath Falls, cousin of the bride. Shower Given By Churchwomen A shower held at Saint Peter's Lutheran church Au gu6t 9 honored Mrs. Wayne Christian, route 1, Eagle Point Mrs. Christian is the former Maxine Woodward The church was decorated with white gladioli and pink dahlias. Pink candles adorned the serving table. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. E. Tams, Mrs. Ed ward Rupp, Mrs. Lee Le macks, Mrs. Roland Holmes, and Mrs. Milan Bevcr. Games were played and prizes given. Attending were Mrs. Hugh Huntley, Mrs. John Gcmaeh lich, Mrs. Leigh Blew, Mrs. Mamie Millcdge, Mrs. Stanley Snook, Mrs. Travis Mitchell, Mrs. Max Woodward, Mrs. William Wright, Mrs. Robert Haworth, Mrs. Tarns, Mrs. Mollie Wolff, Mrs. A. Schreln, Mrs. Rex Woodward, Mrs. Marge Jacket, Mrs. Rupp, Mrs. Lee Lemacks, Mrs. Rol and Holmes, Mrs. Bever and Miss Sandra Rupp. f - ' I a- Mrs. Jerry Dalt Lindsay (Knackstedt photo) Californian Ends Visit in Medford Kirk Watson, Hay ward, Calif., left Friday after a two week visit at the home of Sten Lovenborg and his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Lovenborg, 618 Dakota av enue. The visitor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wat son, Hayward, former Med ford residents. He was accompanied south by Miss Nyla Lovenborg, who will visit with tht Watson family. Families Gather For Reunion Several Jackson county families attended a family re union held August 5, 6 and 7, near Brookings, Ore. The families engaged cottages near the beach, and went ocean fishing, held picnics on he beach and at Azalea State park. Several of the relatives had not seen each other in as long as 20 years. Present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore, Gold Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Derwin Mapel and son, Steve, Central Point; Mr. and Mrs. D a r r e 1 Greb, Central Point, and Mr. and Mrs. Her bert Edwards and children, Karen, Doug, and Brad, Chico, Calif. Mrs. Manel. Mrs. Greb and Mrs. Edwards are the Moore's daughters, June, Nadra and Yvonne. Mrs. Golda Edwards, Oak land, Ore., previously of Med ford, came as a guest of her son Herbert Edwards and fam ily. Also attending the re union and known by many valley residents were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Albert, Chiloquin, ure., Mr. and Mrs. Al Castel and children Lana and Keith, Lakeview; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fletcher and children Lynn. Rhonda and Lorie of Klamath Falls. Mrs. Castel and Mrs, Fletcher are the Albert's daughters, Wanda and Paula. From Portland were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hall and children Linda, Tana and Mike, and Mr. Hall's father, Ray Hall. Jay Richards came from Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs, Jack Manley from Shelton, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Shir ley Hall and sons Arlyn and Rickie, from Nampa, Idaho, Kay Hall, Shirley Hall, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Albert are brothers and sisters. Many of the relatives who attended the reunion have at some time lived in southern Oregon or have visited here. .- 1 Concert Set Today Ashland - Stanley Plum mcr, harpsichordist from Whitman college in Walla Walla, Wash., will be fea tured in the third Oregon Shakespearean Festival Sun day concert today at 4:30 o'clock at the Festival the atre. Also on the program Will be Richard D. Werner, violin ist from Medford. Formerly of New York Cily, Mr. Wer ner has played with Eugene Ormandy and the Minneapo lis Symphony orchestra. Mr. Werner, also a composer, is conductor of the Symphony Society of Southern Oregon. Mr. Plummer is a composer and Instructor of organ at Whitman college, and has done extensive concert work on the West Coast. He ap peared in concert here last year. The concert will consist of chamber music for harpsi chord, violin, cello and contra-bass. Miss Lynn Sohler of the Festival Musicians will play the contra-bass; and W. Ber nard Windt, festival music di rector, will play the cello. Welcome Club To Hold Party A card party has been planned by the Welcome Wagon club for Thursday, August 18. at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Ted Barbce, 18 Summit avenue. The group also has sched uled a picnic for Sunday, Au gust 21, at 1 p.m. in TouVelle park. Coffee and punch will be furnished. Those planning to attend are asked to call Mrs. Robert Whipple, SPrlng 3-4811. The club held a coffee Tues day, August 9, at the home of Robert E. Moss. Eighteen women attended. . I Sorority Installs President Mrs. Willie Fischer was In stalled as Dresident of Alnha Lambda chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority last Monday evening. She suc ceeds Mrs. Robert Klnmnh. who has moved to Grants Pass. The installation wan held at the home of Mrs. Lyman Smith, 317 Howard avenue, with Mrs. Klumph conducting the ceremony. Mrs. Chester Peterson and Mrs. Davis Young were candlelighters. Mrs. Fischer Dresided at the business meeting which followed. A family picnic will be held in conjunction with Delta Omega chapter at Tou Velle park August 21. The southern Oregon district oniin. cil meeting and luncheon will De nem at the Mark Antony hotel in Ashland Sunday, Aueust 28. with members of Alpha Kappa chapter as host esses. The group's annual sale of chocolate mints, conducted jointly with Grants Pass and Ashland chapters, has been set for Sept. 13, 14 and 15. Proceeds are donated to the children's hospital school in Eugene. Mrs. Wylie " Macpherson, educational director, was in charge of the program, "Food for Thought, a sub-topic for the year's study of "Psychol ogy in the Home." Mrs. Carl Kellenberger spoke on "Re sponsibility" and Mrs. Smith discussed "Attitude." Refreshments were served. Veterans, Auxiliary To Meet Wednesday Veterans of World War I, barracks 340 and auxiliary, will have a potluck dinner Wednesday, August 17, at 7 p.m. at Girls Community club, 229 North Bartlett street. An evening of card games and other entertainment is plan ned following dinner. r, f 4-. c- 1 V Gloria Jean Swanfon Betrothal News Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. E. Arthur Swanson, 1594 Velia avenue, announce the engagement of their daughter, Gloria Jean, to Dale Bernard Thompson, son of Mrs. Vyrbelle Thompson, Plaza apartments, and Dr. Bernard Thompson, 26 Crater Lake avenue. Miss Swanson, a graduate of Eagle Point High school, is employed as an office nurse for Dr. John R. Watson. Her fiance is a pre-dental student at Southern Oregon college and is presently employed by Rogue Valley Construction company, Medford. No wedding date has been set. Sister Arrives From Scotland Mrs. Alexander Marshall has arrived in the valley from Criess, Scotland, for an ex tended stay with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Munro, 4748 South Pa cific highway. Mrs. Marshall, a singer, is director of the British Legion choir in Criess. She states that the choir makes many ap pearances, often performing for charitable events. 'A Laurel Anna Ron Ashland Couple Tell Engagement Ashland Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Ross, 630 Park street, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Laurel Anne.f to Carl Weisbrod, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weis brod, Shady Cove. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ashland High school and plans to attend Southern Ore gon college this fall. Her fi ance, a 1958 graduate of Eagle Point High school, is employed by the United States Forest service. No date has been set for their wedding. Events Planned For Amaranth Two events have been planned by the Order of the Amaranth for next week-end. Amaranth grand court school of instruction will be held Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Medford Ma sonic temple. Luncheon will be served. The Amaranth southern Oregon picnic will be held Sunday, August 21 ,at the Dia mond lake picnic grounds. Members and friends are in vited. Luncheon will be at noon. ' f 'o. u Donna Jaan Ells Donna Jean Ells, Lee Williams Engaged to Wed P r o s p e c t Mr. and Mrs. John A. Ellis Jr., Prospect, announce the engagement of their daughter, Donna Jean, to Lee A. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse J. Williams, Shady Cove. Miss Ells is a senior at Prospect High school this year and the bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of the school. He is employed in logging operations with his father and is now working in the Elk Creek district. The young couple plans to be married in June of 1961. Haworth Twins Honored at Party Sammy and Larry Haworth, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Haworth, 325 Stan ley avenue, celebrated their seventh birthdays at a party given in their honor at Haw thorne park August 10. Games were played and prizes given. Attending were Bonnie and Sandra Lyons, Stanley and Robin Cossette, Jack, Bill and Jan Langford, Jim and Bil Huntley and Jim and Bob Ha worth. Fall Wedding Planned by Pair Ashland -The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Judith Elaine Johnson to Richard Allan Bourne was announced last week. The bride-elect is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Charles Johnson. 219 Almond street. and her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester I. Bourne, 510 Haven street, Medford. Miss Johnson is a student at Southern Oregon college and is a member of Zeta Zeta Zeta, women's honor and scholastic organization. The bridegroom-to-be is a student at Oregon Technical Institute, from which he is to graduate in December. Their wedding has. been set for Sunday, September 18, at First Presbyterian church. 1 Citation Given Club Travel Study club of the Oregon Federation of Wom en's clubs, has been awarded a citation for "dedicated serv ice on behalf of a better com munity," as a participant in the 1958-1960 Community Achievement contest spon sored by the General Federa tion of Women's clubs and the Sears-Roebuck Foundation. The club entered the con test on basis of its "CAKE" for Greece project, or which the women received national honors. There were over 15,000 clubs competing in the Com munity Achievement contest. Mrs. John L. Mansfield was chairman of the club for the contest. In Pasco Mrs. Nellie Granger, 2303 Spring street, is in Pasco, Wash., at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Kanehel, and the couple's infant daugh ter, Cyndi Eileen.
