Js Police Arrest Man On Forgery Charge Central Point - Robert Rose Adams, 26, of Los An geles, was arrested by Central Point police last week for forgery after police were noti fied by a local tavern owner of a "suspicious person" on the premises. Police said that the man asked for three blank checks while at the tavern after ask ing about ranches in the vi cinity. Two of the cheeks were found by police wadded up. The third was filled out for S52, signed with the name of "John Day" and cashed at a nearby store in payment for a case of beer. Earlier in the day weather forecasts had indicated that new lifihtninfi-set blazes were possible. Firefighters remain ed on constant lookout, how ever, in case new fires should break out. Gene Rossman, executive secretary of the PHA, said the two projects will stand side by side between Everett and Flanders streets in northwest Portland. Rossman said the two proj ects are slated for immediate construction. The PHA also gave approv. al to a project calling for 100 low-rent homes in southeast Portland. Rossman said (he projects would be financed by a small federal subsidy, long-term pri vate bond financing, and spon sorship by the PHA. Plywood Cutbacks To Affect Prices Portland - ftJPD - Plywood production cutbacks are not expected to affect prices at the distribution levei until sometime next week, accord ing to Mahlon S. Munson, managing director of the Ply wood Distributors association. Munson said buyers would have to become convinced that curtailments in plywood pro ductions are genuine, before buying starts again. A large number of plywood plants have cut back produc tion from five days to four days per week. But Munson said no large scale layoffs had been reported. Munson said it would prob ably be three or four weeks before any price fluctuations were felt at the consumer level as a result of the cut back. $100,000 Damage Caused by Fire Lakeview IBM! The cause Officers Check Death of Youth Tillamook - ffiPB - The Tilla mook County Sheriff's office is Investigating the death by strangulation of a 15-year-old Nehalem boy Friday after noon. Keith L. Wilkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Wilkins, was found by his brother Al vin, strangled to death In his bedroom. The coroner's office said the boy was strangled by a rope around his neck which was fastened to the bedstead.
