Hoscmnry often admits she Is exhausted after a day of such activities. How can she handle Job? I have no objection to women working If they luivo to help support their families, but this business of women work (nil to "keep occupied" Is Just silly. Women should enjoy their advantages when they have them. Secre tary of Slide Howell Appling Jr. snld Thursday. Pre election estimates rang ed from 80 to 65 per cent. Sherman county had the largest overall turnout with 78.4 per cent. Wallowa coun ty was at the other extreme with only 80 per cent turn out. Lane county . Republicans showed the highest percent age In turnout for both par tics with 83.8 per cent. The Democratic turnout was best percentage-wise In Sherman county, 78.8. Average per cent of voting In each party was 80.6 per cent for tho Democrats and 72.7 for tho Republicans. Total Oregon primary reg istration this year was 797, 036. British Columbia Forests Ablaze Kamloops, B. C. tWD Po lice recruited men off the streets of this Rocky Moun tain town early Friday to help battle 300 forest fires. New fires were started Thursday night by an electri cal storm along a 200 mile front. Other forest blazes, somo a week old, blacked thousands of acres of timber land elsewhere In British Columbia. By lute Thursday 15 0 bodica had been recovered from the gutted one-story building which housed 1,600 patients. Some of the corpses were found In shreds of stralt- Jnckcta and retainer sheets that had made escape Impos sible. Authorities said at least 225 persons had died In the pre dawn blaze and 300 more were Injured. But an Indefin ite number of patients hod not been accounted for and of ficials feared they had used the chance to run away.
