The wnodcarving class meet ing set for Wednesday at 12 o'clock has been cancelled so members may attend the in ter-club picnic of the Medford, Camp White and Grants Pass Fifty Plus clubs at TouVelle park. Plans for a possible outdoor concert by the orchestra, with community singing, will be discussed at the regular or chestra practice session Thurs day at 10 a.m. Summer programs for the Fifty Plus club, with meeting time and place, are available and will be given at all public meetings of the Council on Aging, at the club, the center and public library. 4 Smedes Visit Mr. and Mrs. Norman Smedes, formerly of Medford and now living in San Diego, Calif., are visiting in the val ley for a few days. They are on their way to visit their son's family In Washington, D. C. They plan to return to Medford sometime in October. Circle Meeting Talent-Priscilla circle of Talent Methodist church will meet in the annex Monday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Clarence Holdridge and Mis. Lee Quinn will be in charge of the program. Simmons, 3112 Garfield street, Medford, were honored at a shower Thursday at the- home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hughes, 174 Glenn Way, Cen tral Point. Pink and green slivunu'ra decorated the lawn at thu Hughes' homo where Ihu event was held. A center piece of whlto bells, ivy and forget-me-nols decorated the serving table. Miss Schrader was present ed a corsage of talisman rose buds, sweet poas and slcph-anotis. Several music selcclluns were played by the guests at tending, among them was Miss Sharon Simmons who who played the accordion. Mrs. Maude Simmons, grandmother of Mr. Simmons, was also honored. She cele brated her 80th birthday July 15. Assiting Mrs. Hughes with the serving of refreshments were Mrs. Claire Johnson, Mrs. Richard Simmons, Miss Elaine Johnson, and Miss Donna Johnson. Nearly 30 relatives and friends attended. Toastmistress Club Has Officer Installation New officers of the Medford Toastmistress club were in stalled at a recent picnic meet ing at the home of Mrs. James VanderSteen. 900 Mira Mar avenue. Eighteen members at tended. Mrs. George Watson was in stalled as vice-president; Mrs. Amy True, secretary; Mrs. Don Mann, treasurer; Mrs. Bernice Kunzman and Mrs. VanderSteen, club representa tives. Mrs. C. H. Redmond acted as installing officer and Mrs. John Schroeder presided at the meeting in place of the president, Mrs. Richard Williams. Mrs. Bertha Nelson and Mrs. William Fasel were guests at the meeting. Four husbands of members also at tended. Mrs. C. E. Wilson gave the invocation; Mrs. Watson was lexicologist; and Mrs. Vander Steen was in charge of the educational item. Mrs. John Schroeder, topicmistress, gave members subjects for discus sion. No flng or timer was used at the informal meeting. Mrs. Kunzman, who was in troduced by the toastmistress, Mrs. Ethel Mclntyre, spoke on "Weakness is Sometimes Strength." Mrs. Watson was in charge of the business session. Mrs. Individual Pina Pies Cut English muffins into 3 thin slices each and toast on one side in the broiler to pro duce individual pizza pies.
