JULY 13, 1880 Airport Passenger Traffic Declines ' ' Airplane passenger traffic l Medford's municipal nlr- port declined by approximate ly 19 per cent during the past iiscal year, Airport Manager -Gil Gutjahr said today. . ; Total number of passengers I the airport during the 1959 60 year was 65.036. This is compared to the previous year's total of 76,186. Last year's average is also below the six-year passenger aver age of 71,735. Gutjahhr said there are a number of factors which pos sibly contributed to the past year's decline in passengers. These include weather, local 'economic conditions, and changes in flights and cchedulcs, Although the passenger traffic was down, Guijahr noted that total commercial airplane flights at the airport were up. Flights by commer cial airliners at the airport last year totaled 10,240, com pared to the previous year's 9.532. Total Number Total number of aircraft of all kinds to use the airport last year was 55.814 up both from the previous year's total of 54,873 and the six-year average of 54,733- Both air freight and ex press at the airport decreased last year while mail volume increased, Gutjahr pointed out. Freight totaled 230,914 CHEAP.
