Senate investigators also may call Frank Carbo, former kingpin of the boxing rack eteers, from his prison cell at Rikcrs Island in New York's East river, for the same pur pose. Witnesses before Sen. Estcs Kcfnuvcr's antitrust and mo nopoly subcommittee last month named Palermo as "custodian" of Carbo's under world power over professional boxing while the latter is in prison. Carbo Is serving two years on a conviction as a under cover manager. Both he and Palermo are under federal in dictment in California for an alleged attempt to control the welterweight boxing title through extortion. The Senate investigators plan to quiz Palermo about the Jake La Motta-Billy Fox fight fix in 1947. La Motta gave sensational testimony last month that he threw the bout in exchange for a crack . at the . middleweight title which he later won.
