Art Pollard Will Come For Saturday Auto Races Art Pollard, the defending Northwest champion, has re ported he will be back in ac tion this Saturday night at the Ashland speedway. Art will appear in Ashland even though it means he will have to drive all night after the races to reach Portland in time to race there the next afternoon. Super-modified auto racing is scheduled. Track manager Jack McCoy has mentioned that a number of changes have been made at the speedway. It is hoped that the $1,000 purse will attract a number of high-powered cars to make it a thrilling eve ning on the track. Drivers from California re portedly like the fine racing surface of the Ashland oval. They'll be back to see if they can take a large share of the purse back south of the bor der; just like they did on the !$a racing card at the Valley View track. It will be three weeks until the next local super-modified race. Next one is planned for July 16.
