Ashland Church Scene of Rites Mrs. Joan May Hackert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Calhoun, 2124 Camp Baker road, became the bride of Gerald Wesley Fitzpatrick, son of- Mrs. Doris M. . Fitx patrick, Canyonville, in a ceremony held Saturday, Feb ruary 13, in First Presbyteri an church, Ashland. The Rev. B. J. Holland offi ciated at the double ring cere mony held at 8 o'clock in the evening. The bride wore a blue dress. Mrs. Carol Adams attended her sister. Best man was Ray Smith. Following the ceremony a reception was held for mem bers of the couple's families at the Calhoun home. . The bride attended Phoenix high school and is employed at Rogue Valley hospital. Mr. Fitzpatrick attended Canyon ville schools and is a truck driver in the area. The couple is now at home at 2135 Camp Baker road. Meeting Announced For Women's Club A business and social meet ing is planned by Scottish Rite Women's club for 8 p.m. Monday, February 22, in the Masonic temple. On the committee in charge are Mrs. H. L. Alfred, Mrs. H. F. Nordwick, Mrs. George Carleton and Mrs. Earl Henry. - . Wedding Planned For March 20 Miss Janet Jamison, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne II. Jamison, 110 Portland ave nue, is spending the week end with her parents and planning for her coming marriage to John Stadler Corson, son of Kenneth P. Corson, Seattle, and the late Mrs. Anne Cor son, Grants Pass. The wedding is planned for March 20 in the First Pres byterian church here. Both young people will be graduated from the Univer sity of Oregon in the spring. Miss Jamison plans to teach in the Portland schools and Mr. Corson will enter Port land Medical school in the fall. Wood, also of 1948 Myers lane. ' The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Mattie M. Perkett and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Suther. The Rev. D. E. Millard per formed the double-ring cere mony. Over 35 guests attend ed. . ' For the wedding the bride wore a light blue silk bro caded linen suit with white accessories and a small pearl trimmed white hat. She wore a corsage of white carnations. Miss Helen Kay Suther, Chowchilla, Calif., a niece of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a suit of me dium blue with white acces sories and a white carnation corsage. Larry Suther, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man and Miss Connie Lee Shelton, Eagle Point, was flower girl. Harold Dale Wood had charge of the bride's book. Mrs. Cecil Wood served the wedding cake and Miss Suther assisted at a reception which followed. The bride came to Medford five years ago from Modesto, Calif., and is employed in the office of Davis Transfer com pany. The bridegroom former ly resided in Chowchilla, where he and his father op erated a trucking company. He is employed at the Gordon Kershaw nursery. They are making their nome m Medford following a wedding trip to the Oregon ana California coast. i Authority On Bible To Speak Dr. Donald Grey Barn house, pastor of the Tenth Presbyterian church of Phila delphia, will speak to the Westminster Women's associa tion and their guests at a luncheon meeting Tuesday, February 23, at 12:30 p.m. in the FellowshiD hall of West minster Presbyterian church. "The Psalms" will be the topic of Dr. Barnhouse's talk. The women of Westminster Presbyterian church have been studying this book of Biblical poetry and will con tinue this theme, "The Book of Psalms," as their Bible study during the monthly cir cle meetings throughout the year. Westminster Women's asso ciation cordially invites any one interested in hearing TJr. Barnhouse to attend this luncheon meeting. .Dr. Barnhouse, an interna tionally, known Bible teacher, is now in his 32nd year of teaching a Monday night Bible class in midtown New York, drawing more , than 400 Der- sons each week. Elden (Landis Photo) Elden-Hillyer Ceremony Held in Chapel Philadelphian To Be Speaker Mrs. Donald Grey Barn- house, Philadelphia, will speak Tuesday, February 23, at the meeting of the First Presbyterian Women's asso ciation at the church. Mrs. Barnhouse is the wife of Dr. Barnhouse, radio speak er, lecturer, teacher, minister, and writer, who will conduct a five day Bible Study Mis sion at First Presbyterian church this week. Mrs. Barnhouse is a speak er in her own right, having lectured before numerous au diences throughout the United States. She has traveled wide ly with her husband in Eu rope, Asia, Central and South America. 1 Mrs. Charles Champlin will sing, accompanied by Mrs. George Maddox. Mrs. Jeffrey Shute will give the worship service. The luncheon meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship hall. Hope circle will be in charge. Couples Honored Oh Anniversaries Four couples were honored with a wedding anniversary cake at a social meeting of the Veterans of World War I, Barracks 540, and auxiliary at Girls Community club Feb ruary . 17. Approximately 60 members and guests attended. Honored were Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers, Mr. and Mrs. George Walters and Mr. and Mrs. William A. Hastain. Each couple also received a gift. Colored slides of the Ha waiian Islands were shown by Mrs. Everett Lasher. Refresh ments were served by the auxiliary. Decorations in the valen tine motif provided a setting for the wedding February .13 of Miss Carolyn Hillyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman R. Hillyer, 13 Modoc avenue, to Robert H. Elden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Elden, North Pacific highway, Central Point. The bride and bridegroom are students at Oregon State college. Their wedding was per formed by the Rev. George G. Roseberry, in Meeker chapel of . First Methodist church at 8 o'clock in the evening. The double - ring rites were read by candle light. Red rosebuds and white carnations were on the altar. Candelabra holding tapers and baskets of chrysanthe mums and stock decorated the area. Mr. Hillyer gave his daugh ter in marriage. She wore a gown of white silk organza over white peau de soi. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a Sabrina neckline hav ing an overlay of re-embroidered Alencon lace. The closely gathered full-length skirt with matching lace overlay ended in a chapel-length train. . Her illusion veil was caught with a crown of pearlized orange blossoms, and she car ried a cascade bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis. Miss Sally Elden, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Her dress of white silk organza embroidered with pink and red rosebuds, was designed with a moss green satin empire waistline and back bow with sash falling to the hemline. ' Her cascade bouquet was of pink carnations and tiny red roses, Mrs. Jack T. Walker II lighted the altar candles. She wore a sheath dress of moss green. Mr. Walker was best man. Following the ceremony a buffet dinner was held in Yreka and attended by 50 relatives and friends. Mrs. Fred C. Lorish, Medford, cut and served the wedding cake.
