I Newlyweds Live In Medford Home Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Thomas are making their home at 1205 East Main street following their wedding at the Four Square church in Ashland. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Adams, 662 B street, Ashland, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson, Medferd. Their marriage took place December 11 in the chapel of the Four Square church, Ash land. Mrs. L- E. McClaflin of ficiated. Miss Lois Earlene Adams attended her sister and Ger ald Kinney was best man. The bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace and satin and she carried a bou quet of pink rosebuds center ed with a white orchid. Her attendant wore a dress of multi-colored satin and an or chid corsage. A reception for the young couple was held in Medford following the ceremony. The bride attended Ashland high school and the bridegroom -t-tended Medford high school. Birthday Party Honors Daughter Linda Simpson, 285 Lozier lane, was honored January 31 with a surprise party at her home. She was eight years old February 2. Hosts for the event were her brother, David, and cou sin, Ray Newman. Her par ents are Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Simpson. Games were played from 2 to 5 o'clock with Shirley Knapp winning the prize. A large heart-shaped cake, deco rated by Mrs. Walter Lewis, was served. Attending the party were Alice Pittsley, Karen Kem erer, Shirley Knapp, Karen Adams, Pamela Ditto, Crystal Stiffler, Patty Davis, Kaye Fitzsimmons, Gloria and Nan cy Simpson, sisters of the hon ored girl, and Shirley Jones, Debra and Dara Bowman, her cousins. Mothers attending included Mrs. Vonnie Bowman and Mrs. Ray Jones, aunts; Mrs. Ray Stiffler, Mrs. Harold Fitzsimmons and her grand mother, Mrs. Ray Chamber lin. Hornbrook Mrs. L o r e n Cummins and Mrs. Norman Martin attended a dinner meeting Thursday night of the California Teachers asso ciation at the Grenada school. A recent bride, Mrs. Adams was formerly Barbara Burns, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Ar- don Burns of Hornbrook. The next business meeting of the group will be held February 25 at the home of Mrs. L. C. Installing officers for the evening were Rachel Hamil ton, honored queen; Linda Warren, guide; Judie Taylor, marshal; Kay Askwith, re corder; Barbara Gordon, chap lain; Vicki Mekvold, mu sician; Marian Parsons, senior custodian; and Micki Noble, junior custodian. With the ex ception of Miss Parsons, who is honored queen of Bethel 14, all of the installing offi cers were past honored queens. ' Assisting Assisting with the crown ing ceremony were members of the Crater chapter, Order of DeMolay, Richard Lichti, acting master counsellor. The escorting the Bible and crown were little Denise Purdy and Ronnie Neuman. Mrs. Joyce Lewis, sang the altar solo, "I'll Walk With God." The queen's father present ed her with a gavel and Rob ert Padgett, worshipful mas ter of - Masonic. Lodge 135 gave her a bouquet of. red roses. Coming from a distance to attend the ceremony was Miss Sandra Piper, Kerby. She was attended by her senior prin cess, Miss Beverly Sowell, and six other members. Five members accompanied the guardian of Gran ts Pass Bethel, Mrs. T. H. Denney. Mrs. D'a 1 e Ackermann, guardian, and a member at tended from Shady Cove bethel. Introduced Also introduced were the worthy matron and patron of Nevita Chapter 93, Mrs. Frank Ward, and W. E. Berry, and dad advisor of the Order of DeMolay, Russell Fair. The installing queen, was presented with a tiara and an engraved silver spoon from the bethel as well as a past honored queens pin. Miss Purdy's theme was "Winter Fantasy" done in blue and white. Those pre sented at the east were given small skiers. Decorations were by Mrs. Eugene Ferrell and the Miss es Becky Ferrell, Janet Hobbs, and Sheryl Ghelardi. Serving refreshments were the Misses Judy Patterson, Lee Hamilton, June Hopkins and Sue Kelly, assisted by their parents. Bethel Guardian and Asso ciate Guardian Mrs. Archie Purdy and Paul Hopkins opened and closed the cere-i monies. An addendum, ar ranged by Miss Ellen Ward, presented the queen with her Job's doll, dressed in a re plica of her own gown. ' Luncheon Honors Medford Woman Mrs. Vaughn Keyser, Hill- crest-Phoenix road, was hon ored Saturday, February 6, at a surprise luncheon at Mon Desir Dining Inn. The event was arranged by co-workers at the Veterans Administration Domicili a r y, Camp White, where she has been assigned since 1950. Mrs. Keyser is resigning from gov ernment service after 15 years, bhe first was witn tne Navy department in Panama. Mrs. Keyser worked m both the dietetic service and per sonnel division at Canp White, and during that time has received several awards for her work in the personnel division. Temple To Hold Memorial Rites A memorial service will be held at a meeting of Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, Saturday, February 13, at 1 o'clock, in the Ashland Ma sonic temple. The service will honor members who have died dur ing this past year. Sixty members and guests attended. Mrs. Fred Rehling is chair man of motor service, and she is assisted by two co-chairmen, Mrs. Herschel Morris and Mrs. Elmer Ness. Mem bers of the corps are trained to "provide safe and efficient transportation .for Red Cross and other community pro grams." - Mrs. John Day, chairman of the recognition committee, made awards appropriate to their years of service to Mrs. A. B. Davis, Mrs. J.. H. End ers, Miss Ruth Kilbourn, Mrs. Max Leischner, Mrs. Carrol Miller, Mrs. B. D. Mitchell, Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Ness, Mrs. Eugene Orr, Mrs. Rehling, Mrs. Robert Shepherd, Mrs. George Stacey and Mrs. James Winslow. A brief history of the Mo tor corps and highlights of experiences of the volunteers was given by Mrs. McLeod Maurice of the recognition committee. Mrs. E. F. Bolt, also of this committee, ad vised the board of the rec ognition luncheon given the Red Cross Canteen service January 26, and again ex pressed the appreciation of the chapter for their work. ' Mrs. John Raapke was in troduced as the new secretary of the recognition committee. Mrs. David Lowry, chair man of the Home Service corps, announced the comple tion of a successful social welfare aide training course the first week in January which was under the instruc tion of Mrs. Frank Fairweath er. Those who completed the training were Mrs. Glen Fa brick, Mrs. Don Herried. Mrs. Norris Porter. Mrs. William Prentice, Mrs. Frank Preston, Mrs. Lloyd Selby and Mrs. Al Stoehr. A report on the recent Oregon - Washington bi - state convention held in Portland January 14-16, was given by Mrs. Fairweather. Also at- 'Chinese Moon" To Be Reviewed Mrs. L. A. Mrs. J. W. Burba, chairman of the blood program, an nounced that the bloodmobile will be in Medford, February 23, and in Ashland February 24. Robert Heffernan, county fund drive chairman, an nounced that inasmuch as the services of Red Cross extend ed throughout the county, not just the area included in the Medford Crusade, a March campaign will be conducted with the assistance of board members from the outlying communities. Mr. Heffernan introduced his guest, E. O. ! Graham, mayor of Jackson- i ville, who pledged the support of his community in the com i ing drive.
