Miss Reilly Is Bride of James Benson Eagle Point - Miss Sheila Ann Reilly became the bride of James Darrell Benson in a double ring ceremony New Year's eve at the St. Theresa Catholic church, Palm Springs, Calif. The Rev. Mi chael O'Donohoe officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Reilly, Ri- alto, Calif. Mr. Benson is a . . son of Mr. and Mrs. John , Benson, Mountain View . ranch, Eagle Point. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a short white gown with lace top and chiffon skirt, with blue satin slippers. She wore pearls and . her elbow length veil was held by a pearl crown. She carried a bouquet of gardenias and white carnations with blue streamers. Miss Lynn Gerhart was maid of honor. She wore a blue taffeta frock with blue satin headband which held her veil and she carried a bouquet of white carnations with blue ribbon streamers. James Phillips served as best man. A reception following the wedding was held at the home of Mrs. George Micklos. The newlyweds are making their home in Palm Springs following their return from a wedding trip to Las Vegas, . Nevada. The couple was honored by the bride's parents at a re ception January 24 in Red lands, Calif. The bride is a graduate of Palm Springs High school where she was a member of Sigma Phi Omicron honor so ciety. Mr. Benson was gradu ated from M e d f o r d High school and attended southern Oregon college where he was active in vocal music groups and was affiliated with Tau Kappa. Leap Year Event Set Plans for a Leap Year din ner dance will be announced at a meeting of Bethel 14, In ternational Order of Job's Daughters, Wednesday, Feb ruary 3, at 7:30 p.m., in the Masonic temple. Medford, with Queen Marion Parsons presiding. Officers of the Junior bethel will assist the queen. Clarence Smith, guardian of music, has called a choir practice for Monday, Febru ary 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic temple. All choir members are to attend. Queen Marion presided over her first session at the meeting of the bethel on Jan uary 20. The bethel, in cooperation with Bethel 55, will hold the dance in the Rogue Valley Country club on Friday, Feb ruary 19. Dinner at 8 p.m. will be followed by dancing until midnight. This event will honor the junior past queens and the present queens for both bethels. Projects for the coming term were announced. The queen's project will be a food sale s .' duled for Saturday, February 13. Junior princess Barbara Morton will be' in charge of a rummage sale on Saturday, March 5, in the Fehl building. A project to be handled by the senior prin cess. Miss Carla Borough, will be the mother's tea and style show which is set for Sunday, April 3. Coming Events Slated by Group Medford Lady Elks will meet for a dessert luncheon and card party Tuesday, Feb ruary 2, at 1 p.m. in the Elks club party room. Mrs. Frank Payne, Mrs. Thomas Anderson, and Mrs. H. U. Mitchell, winners at cards at the last meeting of the group, will be in charge of refreshments. Wednesday, February 10, the Ashland Lady Elks will entertain the Medford Lady ! Elks at the Ashland Elks' temple. The social hour will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch eon will be served at 12:30 p.m. Cards will be played j following lunch. Mrs. Moore and their j family arrived from Korea ; January 7 to spend a short i vacation before leaving for Colorado Springs February 1. Sergeant Moore was stationed in Korea for 13 months and is being transferred to Fort Carson. Mrs. Moore is the daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Nel son, route 1, box 382. Mr. Moore is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Moore, Ball road. Miss Sandra Davis Engagement Told Of Sandra Davis And Roy Lester Mr. and Mrs. Ralph N. Davis, route 2, Box 193, Greg ory road, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Sandra, to Roy Lester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lester, route 4, box 457. Miss Davis is a junior at Crater High school. Mr. Lester attended Phoenix High school and is employed by Oregon Veneer company. An August wedding is planned. Watkins-Webb Rites Announced Eagle Point - Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Alexander Watkins are making their home in Med ford following their wedding last month at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Webb, Butte Falls Star route, box 16, Eagle Point. The bride is the form er Nelda Grace Webb. Floyd Pollack of the Chris tian Missionary Alliance church officiated at the 7:30 o'clock evening rites held De cember 12. Thirty relatives and friends attended. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy B. Wat kins, Birmingham, Ala. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a blue and white taffeta frock. Her flowers were white chrysanthemums. Mrs. David Setness attend ed the bride. She wore a mauve taffeta dress with chrysanthemums. Dennis Owen served as best man. Following the ceremony a buffet supper was held at the home of Mrs. Grace E. Has kin;; grandmother of the bride. The : bride attended Eagle Point High school and is a student at Medford Beauty school. Mr. Watkins, who has been making his home at 510 South Central avenue, attend ed Birmingham schools and is employed by- Medford Veneer and Plywood corporation. Columbian Squire Circle To Be Instituted Today A charter class of 17 Col umbia Squires will be ini tiated at 11:30 a.m. today in ceremonies at the Red Cross building. Ritualistic pre sentations will be by the C o lumbian Squires, Mount Hood Circle No. 666, Gresham, Oregan, under the direction of Eu gene C. Schwerzer, director of the Knights of Columbus state youth program. Preceding the institution of the local circle of Squires, the candidates and all Cub and Boy Scouts of Troop 1, along with members of Rogue River council, Knights of Columbus, and their guests will assist at Mass and re ceive communion corporately m Sacred Heart church. In attendance at the Mass will be an honor guard com posed of local fourth degree members of the Knights of Columbus. Hymns will be sung by seventh and eighth grade girls of St. Mary's school. Judge to Speak Judge Edward C. Kelley will deliver the main address at the charter breakfast to be held at the Rogue Valley Country club following the Mass. Also on the program will be greetings by Mayor John W. Snider; Thomas W. Dugan, grand knight of Rogue River council; John L. Hochstatter, district deputy for this area; and Mr. Schwer- zler. The invocation will be of fered by the Rev. John A. Ilg, father prior for the new circle. Lewell A. Dupray, chief counsellor for the circle, will be master of ceremonies. Although the Columbian squires program is still in its infancy in Oregon, the youth movement has been sponsor ed by the Knights of Colum bus in other areas since 1925. Open to Catholic boys from 13 to 18 years of age, the organization has the two-fold objective of assisting these young men through the years of adolescence and of de veloping leadership among older boys by affording them frequent opportunities to as sume responsibility, demon- Fa rewel I Tea Honors Woman Central Point-Mrs. A. M. Setness was the honored guest at a tea held in the Presbyterian church at Cen tral Point Friday, January 22. Mrs. Setness has been a teach er for 13 years in the primary department of the church school. She will leave soon to make her home in Redding, Calif. She was presented a gift from the Faith and Wom en's Christian service circles. Betrothal News Of Interest Here Of interest here is the an nouncement of the engage ment of Miss Frances Lucille Barta to Adrian Martin Stan ga made recently at a family dinner party in Portland. The bride-elect, daughter of Mrs. Peter Barta and the late Mr. Barta, was for several years assistant dean of women at Southern Oregon college. She now is assistant principal of the Palo Alto, Calif., High school. Mr. Stanga is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Adam Stanga of New Orleans, La. He is vice principal of the Sunnyvale, Calif., High school and is president of the Sunny vale Kiwanis club. Counsel Staff A staff of counsellors from the sponsoring council assists the Squires in carrying out the program which the circle adopts. Rayburn. . Members of the charter class are Paul Adams, Valton Albert, Ronald Becker, Den nis Bergstrom, Stephen Cor liss, Timothy Darland, Thom as Darland, Donald Davy, James Dupray, Michael Ford, Robert Gonzales, Donald Mac pherson, Larry Martin, Ger ald Spielbusch, Ronnie Spiel busch, Michael Thompson and Patrick Thompson. The circle has not yet been assigned an official number and the name will be decided upon at a later date. Following the initiation and institution ceremonies, the candidates, degree team and guests will be served a lunch eon by wives of the members of the sponsoring council. Couple Wed By Justice Talent-Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Kenneth Fink are living at Route 1, Box 158, Talent, following a wedding trip - to Eugene. Their wedding was an event of January 7. Larry Aschenbrenner, jus tice of peace of Grants Pass, officiated for the 7:30 o'clock evening ceremony, held in the Fred Robinson residence in Grants Pass. Mrs. Fred Robinson, a sister-in-law of the bride, was the bridesmatron and Mr. Robin son, the bride's brother, at tended the bridegroom. A dinner, for which Albert Nixon was host, was served after the ceremony at the Ore gon inn. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Robinson, Route 1, Box 17, Talent. The bride attended Medford High school and now is employed at a telephone operator by Pacific Telephone and Tele graph company. The bridegroom is an ap praiser trainee with the US Appraisal company. He at tended St. Mary's High school. He is a son of Mrs. Hilda Fink of Route 1, Box 592, Central Point. Club to Show Colored Films Talent-Colored slides will be shown at a meeting of the Talent Garden club February 3 at the home of Miss Bertha Hayman with Mrs. Ormy Goddard as co-hostess. The colored slides will be of flower arrangements and perennials.
