(Red) Cullen of Medford and Palm Springs, Calif., plan to leave in February from Palm Springs for New York City where they will embark on March 15 for a trip to Europe. They will be accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brown of Los Angeles and the two cou ples will drive with house trailers to the east coast. In Europe they will visit France, Germany, Italy, Swit zerland and England. They expect to be there for about two months. On their return to this country the four will tour the east coast and Canada. Mr. Cullen was the owner of tht former Cullen Equip ment company, and Mr. Brown is sales manager' for the Air Stream Trailer com pany in Los Angeles. Jackson County Civic Music association members will hear a concert Monday. February 1, given by the National Artists Sinfonietla with William Haaker as musical director and Amparo Iturbi as piano soloist. The program will begin at 8 p.m. at Medford High school auditorium. Concert Numbers Are Announced tion will be held at the Med ford High school at 8 p.m. The program includes "Trumpet Voluntary," "Sieg fried Idyll." "Concerto in D Major," "Symphony in G Minor, No. 40, K.550," and "Hungarian Fantasie for Piano and Orchestra." Compositions by Jeremiah Clark, Richard Wagner, Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Liszt will be played Monday evening by the National Art ists Sinfonietta here. The second concert in the current series of the Jackson County Civic Music associa- Piano soloist will be Miss Amparo Iturbi. Fifty Attend Meeting Of Sojourners Fifty women attended a meeting of Medford Sojourn ers held Thursday at the Girls Community Club. A new member, Mrs. Asa Lemon, was welcomed into the club. Newcomers attend ing for the first time were Mrs. John Hoogerheide, Mrs. Fenton L. Hall and Mrs. Leo Radke. The dessert table was cen tered with an Italian hand painted china horn of plenty which was overflowing with fresh fruits. A blue candle on each side completed the cen terpiece. Hostesses were Mrs. Gene Chamberlain, Mrs. Virgil Morton and Mrs. F. D. Nel son. Following a short business meeting cards were played Prizes for bridge went to Mrs. A. B. Davis and Mrs. Charles Swenson; pinochle, Mrs. Everett Robinson and Mrs. Evelyn Hendricks; ca nasta, Mrs. Frank Stratton and Mrs. A. L. McClure. Mrs. Anna Carnell received a spe cial award. The next meeting of the club will be held February 11 at the Girls Community Club. Newcomers who have lived in Medford and vicinity not more than two years are in vited to attend and become members. Chapter Pledges Miss Linda Smith Miss Linda Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niles B. Smith, 8 Richmond avenue, has been pledged by the Ore gon State college chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Miss Smith is enrolled in liberal arts. Her sister, Mrs. Stephen Foster of Anaheim, Calif., was also a Pi Beta Phi at OSC. Although Heart Sunday is a whole month away, the chairmen are already drafting their plans. Mrs. Ronald Ricketts, county chairman for the project, met last week with three of her main co-chairmen. Ren Taylor is also assisting Mrs. Ricketts. The month-long heart fund campaign opens February 1. Tickets To Go On Sale For Annual AAUW Play ; Tickets for "The Sleeping Beauty" will be sold in Med ford schools Friday, Febru ary 5. This play, produced by Southern Oregon college play ers and sponsored by Ameri can Association of University Women, will be seen in Med ford Tuesday, February 9, at the Craterian theater. Magical effects, special lighting, and colorful costum es will be used for this an nual children's theater pro duction. Dr. Dorothy Stolp is director, and William Oyler is technical director. Proceeds from the two per formances, at 2:30 and 4:15 pan., go to the AAUW fund for fellowships and grants. They are given to outstand ing women who are working toward doctorate degrees here or abroad. Persons wanting tickets to "The Sleeping Beauty" for preschool children may call either of the co-chairmen for Medford arrangements, Mrs. John Stong, SPring 3-5867, or Mrs. A. J. Johannson, SPring 2-2618. Final plans for ' the play, and for the art show which closes at the Medford hotel Crater room this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, were made at an AAUW board meeting Thurs day. Mrs. Roland M. Mayer was hostess to the group at her home, 29 Richmond av enue, with Mrs. Alan S. Mar kee assisting. The next branch meeting will be the annual fellow ships luncheon Saturday, Feb ruary 27, at Ping's Garden. Brat ton returned to the valley re cently after a two week wed ding trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. The couple were married January 2 in an evening ceremony at the home of Elder and Mrs. John Trade, 1130 West Eighth street. The bride is the former Burnadine M.: Meilicke, Route 4, Box ' 316, Medford. Mr. Bratton is formerly of Suther lin, Ore. Elder Harry Sharp of the Woodland, Wash., Seventh-day, Adventist church officiated at the 8 o'clock ceremony. The bride wore a grape colored suit with grape and pink accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. Leonard Yost attended her sister. She wore a light blue knit suit with brown and white accessories and white gardenia corsage. Clifford Fellows, Portland, served as best man. . Candlelighters were Terry Bratton and Danny Meilicke. White chrysanthemums and pink stock decorated the home for the ceremony. Mrs. Harry Sharp sang, and accompanied Alvy Bowman another soloist. Following the ceremony a reception was held. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Bowman, Mrs. Trude, Miss Teri Lynn Meilicke and Miss Sharie Yost. During the re ception Mr. Bowman and Mr. Yost sang. 4 Hard Times Dance Theme Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Harring ton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perl head the committee for the annual Hard Times cos tume party at Rogue Valley Country club, scheduled this year for Saturday, February 6. The party will begin at 8 p.m., and a buffet will be served from 10 p.m. to 12 midnight. Mulligan stew and weiners and beans will be featured on the menu. Music for dancing will be provided by "Brother Abby's Sinless Syncopaters. Reservations should be made by calling the club. Church Rites In Ashland Wed Couple Talent-Miss Sharleen Kaye Barnhart became the bride of Jon Wayne Cooper at an 8 o'clock evening ceremony January 23 at the Ashland Presbyterian church.. About 50 persons attended the rites, The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barnhart of Aurora, Oregon, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Elden Cooper of 5681 South Pacific highway. The Rev. H. B: Holland read the ceremony. Miss Nylia Cooper, a sister of the bridegroom, was the honor attendant, and Mrs. Frank Root, Ashland, was bridesmatron. Serving as best man was Robert L. Burgess, Phoenix. Ushers were Sherwin Cooper and Frank Root. The bride was escorted by her father. Her white gown was styled with a lace jacket trimmed with satin and skirt of tiered chiffon over taffeta Her heart shaped bouquet was of carnations, roses and for get-me-nots. The attendants' gowns were pink and they carried bou quets of white carnations and pink net. The church was decorated with white and pink chrysan themums and carnations. ' Mrs. Alma Bohnet, aunt of the bride gave a reception for the couple in the Pioneer room in the Jackson hotel. Mrs. Robert Burgess cut the wedding cake, while Mrs. Bohnet poured punch and Mrs. Millie Ritchson served the coffee. The bride is employed as a waitress at the Medford Bowling lanes and the bride groom is employed at Mike's Seat Cover and Upholstery firm. They are living at 7281fe East Jackson street. Both at tended Talent High school and the bride also attended North Marion High school at Aurora. Pledged Ken Arnold, son of Mrs. Edith H. Arnold, 912 West 11th street, was initiated Janu ary 24 into Sigma Pi fra ternity at Oregon State col lege. He is studying chemical engineering.
