Carmen Louise, to William Sidney Goldin, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Goldin, 2933 Lone Pine road. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is employed by Mann's Depart ment store. Mr. Goldin also is a graduate of Medford High school and attended Southern Oregon college. He is employed by Padgham Glass and Millwork company. A June wedding is planned. Miss Judy Bullis Leaves for Home Miss Judy Bullis, Portland, granddaughter of Seth Bullis, 15 Florence avenue, returned j to her home Saturday morn ing after spending Christmas and the New Year's day holi days here. Miss Bullis and her mother, Mrs. S. M. Bullis Jr., arrived December 24. Mrs. Bullis re turned home a week ago. -"HI Carmen Bernheisel To Return Miss Elizabeth Rice, 1510 East Jackson street, will re turn to Medford today after spending the holidays in southern California with friends and relatives. SP 2-6253 Gilman-Sawyen v Rites An event of the holiday sea son was the wedding of Miss Sandra Dagny Sawyers to George Leland Gilman. The ceremony took place Wednes day, December 23, at St. Mark's Episcopal church with the Rev. George R. V. Bolster reading the vows at eight o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Saw yers, Mt. Rogue ranch, Trail, and the bridegroom's parents are Mrs. Leila Gilman, 345 Apple street, and Lester Gil man, 482 Beall lane, Medford. About 225 guests were pres ent for the double-ring ser vice. The reception which fol lowed was in the Parish hall of the church. For her wedding the bride wore a gown of Alencon lace with scoop neckline outlined in pearls and billowing skirt ending in a chapel length train. She carried a prayer book with a white orchid and white hyacinths in streamers, and wore a single strand of pearls. Her chapel length veil of nylon net was held by a crown with tear drop pearls. For "something old" the bride carried a white silk em broidered handkerchief brought from China many years ago by a cousin of her maternal grandmother. The traditional sixpence was loan ed by Mrs. Robert Work. Miss Roberta Dunlap, hon or attendant for the bride, wore a bouffant gown of pink nylon chiffon made with scooped neckline, large puff ed sleeves and deep vee-neck-line in back. Her hat was of nylon braid in petal design and she carried lavender chrysanthemums. Bridesmaids were the Miss es Lee T e s k e , Applegate, Phyllis B r i g g s , Applegate, and Gail Hannan, Barstow, Calif. Junior bridesmaid was Margaret Hanson, Trail. Their frocks of lavender ny lon chiffon were designed as that worn by the honor at tendant and their ribbon hats with veils matched their gowns. They carried pink chrysanthemums and each wore a double strand neck lace of crystals, gifts of the bride. The bride's mother wore a champagne p e a u d e soie sheath with hat of bronze sa tin and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Gilman wore a cham pagne colored brocade satin gown with hat of fresh bronze chrysanthemums. Mr. Sawyers gave his daughter in marriage, ' and John Foley, Gold Hill, was best man for the bridegroom. Ushers were Delbert Chausee, cousin o f -1 h e bridegroom T o n a p a h , Nev.; Warren Straus, Central Point, Allen Kimmey, Gold Hill, and Don ald Hawks, cousin of the bridegroom. The bridegroom's Miss Therza Bratcher Tell Engagement OfSOC Students Ashland - Announcement was made recently of the en gagement of Miss Therza Bratcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Bratcher, 1775 Ashland Mine road, to Robert C. Messenger, son of Dr. and Mrs. Loren Messenger, Tal ent. The engagement was made known at a dinner party giv en at the Toy Deer cafe De cember 21. . Both Miss Bratcher and her fiance are students at South ern Oregon college. No date has been set for their wed ding. Announces Meeting Mrs. Herman Priem, Mea dows road, will be hostess to the Sams Valley Ladies club at a meeting Thursday, Jan. 7, at 1:30 p.m. brother, Richard Gilman, was junior usher. Leonard Hanson, member of the bride's church, St. Martin's Episcopal church, Shady . Cove, and Douglas Kliever were acolytes. Mrs. E. C. Conrad was or ganist and Miss Ruth Clark, Portland, sang. Poinsettias decorated the altar, and traditional Christ mas greenery decorated the church. Pink chrysanthe mums, baskets of greenery and white candles were used for the reception decorations. Pouring for the reception were Mrs. Ranald Axtell, Trail and Mrs. Luther Davis. Mrs. Bruce Stuart and Mrs. Frank Dolenshek, Trail, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Ernest Lind, Monter ey, Calif., sister of the bride groom, took charge of the guest book, and Miss Maur een McCurdy the gifts. " Mr. Gilman and his bride traveled to Hawaii for their honeymoon, the bride wear ing for traveling a beige wool jersey dress with red shoes and hat and an orchid. Both Mr. Gilman and his bride were born and reared in Jackson county. The bride was graduated from Eagle Point High school and is at tending Southern Oregon col lege. Mr. Gilman was gradu ated from Crater High school and is attending Oregon State college. In Medford for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lind, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom from Monterey, Calif.; and Mr. and Mrs. James Watkins, aunt and uncle of the bride from Klam ath Falls. Also among the wedding guests were the bride's mater nal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Myklebye, Trail; the bridegroom's paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Gilman, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Rawls. The bridegroom's mother and Mrs. Goldie Hawk were co-hostesses for a dinner for the bridal party following the wedding rehearsal Tuesday, December 22. The event was held at Mrs. Hawk's home on South Stage road, and decora tions were in the Hawaiian theme. Misi Carol McVay Parents Announce Engagement News Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Paisley, 401 East 12th street, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carol A. Mc Vay, to Everett R. Stricklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Stricklin, 704 South Peach street. The bride-to-be is a senior at Medford High school and her fiance was graduated from that school. Mitchell will review the book, "Seven Worlds of Theodore Roose velt," at the January 6 meet ing of The Wednesday Study club at Girls Community club. Mrs. George Canode will also appear on the program with a talk on a selected subject.
