M. Skip- worth, Rt. 3, Box 347, Med ford, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Sharee Lue, .to Ralph Gerald Bross, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Bross, 1626 Kings highway, Medford. Miss Skipworth is a grad uate of Phoenix High school having been co-valedictorian of her class. She is a fresh man at Brigham Young uni versity at Provo, Utah. Mr. Bross was graduated from Medford High school and has served two and a half years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Span ish American Mission. He is a junior at Brigham Young university. No wedding date has been set. J Church Rites JVed Pah Sharee Lue Skipworth (Kennell Ellis photo) Wedding Planned For January 10 Talent The wedding of Miss Kathleen Kerns, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. William K. Kerns, route 1, box 88, to Forrest Clark, Greenville, Miss., has been set for Jan uary 10 at Talent Friends church. Mr. Clark is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Clark, Kil michael, Miss. He attended schools in Mississippi and was also a student at Southern Oregon college. Miss Kerns, who attended Talent High school and South ern Oregon college, is em ployed at Lea Motors, Med ford. - Student Returns To Utah School Among the many valley col lege students who spent the holiday season with their par ents was Miss Cheryl Dunn, daughter of Mr. and Mr. J. E. Dunn, 2459 Sandy terrace. Miss Dunn, a freshman at Brigham Young university, Provo, Utah, is majoring in music. She returned to Utah yesterday. One of the larger weddings of the holiday season vfas an everil of Sunday, December 27 when Miss Judith Ann Mc Graw became the bride of Dennis Lee Barr. The double ring, candlelight ceremony was held at three o'clock in the afternoon at First Pres byterian church with the Rev. John O. Reynolds of the Westminister Pres byterian church officiating. Approxi mately 300 guests attended. The bride is ' the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Mc Graw, 3288 Hollywood ave nue, and Mr. Barr's parents are Mr. and Mrs. George C. Barr, 539 Fairmount street. Baskets of large white chrysanthemums and ever green boughs with white satin bows and red cluster orna ments decorated the church. Spiral candelabra held light ed white tapers and white sat in bows with holly and red clusters decorated the pew ends. The bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace designed with satin banded bodice, long sleeves and back skirt detail of ruffles cascading to a chap el length train. Her fingertip illusion veil fell from a sequin trimmed shell crown. She car ried a bouquet of white rose buds and holly and wore a diamond and pearl drop neck lace and earrings, gifts from the bridegroom. Mr. McGraw escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in mar riage. Wear Holiday Red Mrs. George DeCloedt (nee Sue Kelley) was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Marsha O'Sullivan, Miss Nancy Wilson and Miss Kath ie McCay, cousin of the bride. They wore identical princess style frocks of holiday red with bell skirts and portrait collar necklines. Their head dresses were satin bandeaux and veils of holiday red and they wore white gloves. Their satin slippers were also holi day red in color. The attend ants carried star colonial bou quets of white carnations and holly accented with silver glitter and wore pearl cluster earrings, gifts of the bride. Robert Pond served as best man and ushers were George Ice, Gerry Lyons, all of Med ford, and Gary Huneycutt, Grants Pass. Junior usher was Thomas McGraw, brother of the bride. Flower girl was D e b r a Barr, 7-year-old sister of the bridegroom and Lee Sparks, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Sparks.and cousin of the bride, was ring bearer. Can dlelighters were Charlotte and Christine Elmgren, 8- year-old twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elmgren. The flower girl and candle lighters wore holiday red Fiancee Guest In Arnold Home Miss Gail Leitch, Van Nuys, Calif., fiancee of Richard S. Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur A. Arnold, 1011 Red dy avenue, is a guest at the Arnold home this week end. Miss Leitch arrived in Med ford Wednesday afternoon and was honored Thursday morning at a coffee where she met friends and neighbors of Mr. Arnold. Miss Leitch also attended other parties while here. Prior to leaving her Van Nuys home she was honored with a mis cellaneous shower given by family friends. The young couple, who plan an April wedding, will leave today for Portland where they will resume their studies at Lewis and Clark college. Miss Leitch and Mr. Arnold are seniors. dresses with satin bandeaux in their hair, and short white gloves. The flower girl car ried a small star colonial bou quet of white carnations and holly. Miss Baker Sings Miss Susan Baker was solo ist for the ceremony and Mrs. Robert Sheldon was at the organ. For the event the bride's mother wore an emerald silk faille sheath dress designed with butterfly sleeves. Her ac cessories were emerald green and champagne beige, and she wore a corsage of bronze cymbidium orchids. The mother of the bride groom was attired in an ice blue lace gown worn with white and black- accessories. Her corsage was of ivory cym bidium orchids. Special guests at the rites were Mrs. T. E. McGraw and Mrs. Alice Hood, grandmoth ers of the bride, and Mrs. Ed ward Collum, grandmother of the bridegroom. Their cor sages were of pink rose buds." Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents in the Crater room at the Hotel Medford. The bride's table was arrang ed with lighted white tapers and red and white carnations; holly encircled the colonnad ed wedding cake. The center piece for the coffee and punch table was an arrangement ol red and white carnations, hol ly, evergreen boughs and white candles. Baskets of white chrysanthemums and evergreen bough with red ac cents decorated the room. Miss Jacqueline Walker, cousin of the bride, decorated the reception tables and as sisted with arrangements for the wedding and reception. Mrs. B. F. Sparks, aunt of the bride, and Miss Walker cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Earl Newman, sis ter of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Charles Tennant. aunt of the bridegroom, served the coffee. Serving the punch were Mrs. Kenneth E. Hood and Mrs. Merle McGraw, aunts of the bride and Miss Lana McGraw, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. Miss Jacklyn Creager and Miss Susan Baker were at the gift table and Charlotte and Christine Elmgren passed red net and satin packets of rice. Mrs. Thelma Howard served as hostess. Mr. Barr and his bride trav eled to San Francisco for their wedding trip, the bride wear ing a royal blue and black tweed suit with blue acces sories and a white rose bud corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Barr are grad uates of Medford Senior High school. Mr. Barr was active in sports while in high school and . was president of the choir. The bride was a mem ber of the rally squad for two years. They are present ly attending the University of Oregon. After January 5th they will be home at No. 14 Selma Apartments, Four teenth street, Eugene. Out-of-town guests attend ing the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Newman and fam ily, Boise, Idaho; Miss Janice Williams, Grants Pass; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davis and family, Del Rio, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cornutt, Myrtle Creek, Ore. A rehearsal dinner party was given by the bride's par ents for members of the wed ding party on Saturday eve ning, December 26, in the Crest room at the Rogue Val ley Country club. Sally Ann Devers Sally Devers, Arnold Widmer Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Dev ers, 1825 Oregon street, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Sally Ann, to Arnold Widmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Widmer, Bar nett.road. Miss Devers is a graduate of Medford High school and Southern Oregon college and teaches the second grade at Jacksonville elementary school. Miss Devers spent one year working at Ransohoff's Inc:, San Francisco, prior to finishing her college educa tion. , ' Mr. Widmer is a graduate of St. Mary's High school and served two years in the Unit ed States "Army. Mr. Widmer is employed by Timber Prod ucts Inc. He also is a student at Southern Oregon . college majoring in business. A summer wedding is planned. (Landis photo) of the Hotel Medford following their wed- Elijah To Be Presented The Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon will pre sent Mendelssohn's oratorio, "Elijah" Sunday, January 17, at 3 p.m. in the Medford High school auditorium. Richard D. Werner will direct the pro duction. Both chorus and orchestra have been rehearsing for some time on this monument al work, and Director Wern er states that it is beginning to go very smoothly. Soloists for the production will be Mrs. Violet Hunter, soprano; Mrs. Lois Windsor, Ashland, contralto; Louis Clason, formerly on the fac ulty at Southern Oregon col lege and now at Sacramento State college, tenor, and George Peckham, who lived in Medford as a youth and who now makes his home in Seattle, Wash., bass soloist. An oratorio is a dynamic story for solo voices, chorus and orchestra. Solos, recita tives, duos, trios and chorus numbers are interwoven for the Mendelssohn work. First performed in Birmingham, England, it was presented August 26, 1846, with the composer directing. The story is based on the scriptures. The board of directors of the Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon stresses that the society is a non-profit corporation formed for the purpose of presenting fine music. The southern Oregon organization is formed and operated along much the same lines as hundreds of other philharmonic and sym phonic groups in the nation; all such organizations must have the physical and finan cial support of civic-minded music lovers of the communi ty if the aims and purposes of them are to be fully real ized, it is point out..
