Christmas ' A Sunday, Dec. 13, 1959 i f I 6ff on SUITS 4 How much Valley Couple W eds An event of November 27 was the wedding oMiss Caro lyn Rae Fichtner and Dick L. Chamberlain at First Metho dist church at 8 o'clock in the evening. Dr. George G. Rose berry officiated at the double ring rites attended by 270 relatives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Betty Fichtner, 227 North Oakdale avenue, and Clyde Fichtner, 331 West Second street. Mr. Chamber lain's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Chamberlain, Brownsboro road, Eagle Point. The newlyweds are making their home on Brownsboro road following their return from a wedding trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The bride wore a floor length white gown fashioned with fitted lace bodice with long sleeves. The bouffant skirt was of tiers of pleated tulle on bands of lace and formed a train. Her fingertip length veil was held by a pearl crown and she carried a bouquet of stephanotis and white carnations encircling a white orchid. Mr. Fichtner gave his daughter in mar riage. Mrs. Walter W. Collins was matron of honor for her sis ter. Other attendants were Mrs.-Richard Vance and Miss Rita Rose. Their dresses were pink nylon chiffon with matching lace boleroes. They carried bouquets of lime col ored spider chrysanthemums. Little Diane Ringel, Van couver, 1 Wash., was flower girl for her cousin. She wore a white lace frock over pnik. Dolf C. Larson served, as best man and seating the guests were Gordon Casey and John Austin. Bobbie Col lins, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Candlelighters were Gary Fichtner, brother of the bride, and Gary Smith, nephew of the bridegroom. White chrysanthemumsHlec orated the church for the ceremony. Mrs. Lester Board man played the organ wed ding music and accompanied Mrs. ' Gregory MacDougall, soloist. For her daughter's wedding and reception "which follow ed at the church Mrs. Ficht ner wore a beige satin dress with accessories of dusty pink. Mrs. Chamberlain chose a royal blue frock with match ing accessories. For the reception Mrs. Rob ert Cunningham, Corvallis, and Miss Janet Carter, also Corvallis, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Gene Chamberlain, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. George Spaunhurst poured the coffee. Miss Cecelia Ficht ner, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and John Fichtner passed the rice. , For her traveling attire the bride wore a blue suit with white feathered hat and black accessories. The bride attended Medford High school and Robertson's School of Business. She is a stenographer for the Califor nia Oregon Power company. Mr. Chamberlain attended Eagle Point High school and does Suxury cost ? 1 is a rancher and logger. Among the out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were relatives of the bride. They included Mrs. Belle Daley, grandmoth er; Mrs. Maxine Stone, aunt; Miss Linda and Jerry Stone, cousins, all of Del Paso Heights, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Moore, North High lands, Calif., great aunt and uncle; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ringel, Vancouver, Wash., aunt and uncle. Holiday Parties On Calendar " . December week ends are the most popular time for holiday parties, and a number are on the calendar this week end. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen G. Nye will be hosts today for the first of two seasonal open house events. The Nyes have invited a group of friends to their new home situated in their orchard off the Phoenix Hillcrest road southeast of Medford. Located on a small hill, the home commands a fine view of the valley to the south and the Siskiyou moun tain range. Second of the parties, will be held December 20. Dr. and Mrs. Dwight Find ley gave a dinner at their home on the Old Stage road last night. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blanchard, who recently came to Grants Pass from Chicago to make their home. Mr. Blanchard, an attorney, lived in Grants Pass as a young man and after going to Chi cago was with the firm, of Armour brothers for a num ber of years. Units of the various armed forces in southern Oregon gave the annual Military Ball at Rogue Valley Country club Saturday, December 5. About 75 couples attended. t Before the party Lt. Col. and Mrs. John G. Crawford gave a cocktail party at their home on East Main street. Ten couples were guests. Last night Mrs. C. Rease Braley gave a cocktail and supper party for a few friends. It was held at the Colony club. Pledged - William J. Foote, Medford, has been pledged by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oregon' where he is a student. This playful pro cedure followed "kidnapping" of the bride ' by the bridegroom's friends. The bride is a Festive Christmas Parties On Calendar Coming Week Many Christmas parties . are on the calendar for this week. These festive events are anticipated with pleasure by the members; luncheon and dinner menus are planned with care and gift exchanges are part of the holiday fun. Lively Hogues - - The Christmas dinner meet ing of the Lively Rogues will be held at Rogue Valley Country club Wednesday, De cember 16. Mr. and Mrs. Aus tin King and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wall will be host cou ples for the evening.' Members who. have not been contacted are asked to call.'-Mrs. S. R. Blue Star Mothers Central Point -r The Christ mas party of Chapter 2, Blue Star Mother's of America, will be held at the home of Mrs. William Naylor, 2499 New Ray road, Central Point, Thursday, December 17, at 12 noon. Election of officers will be held during a business meet ing which will follow a cover ed dish luncheon. Gifts will be exchanged. Lady Golfers The Lady Golfers of the Rogue Valley Country club will hold their annual Christ mas event on Thursday, De cember 17. Wednesday Study Club The Wednesday Study club will hold its party Wednes day, December 16, at the Girls Community club Mrs. E. W. Jermark will give the Christmas program which will be followed by a gift ex change and refreshments. Beta Sigma Phi Xi Mu Chapter of Beta Sig ma Phi will hold their party Thursday, December 17, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs.- J. E. Moir, 1105 Shafer lane. Games have been planned by the social committee and a gift exchange will be held. Each member will receive a gift from her secret sister for the calendar year and names will be drawn for the ; next year. Grove Garden The annual Christmas din ner of the Grove Garden club will be held Wednesday, De cember 16, at Oak Grove school. Miss Lyons is the daughter of Mrs. Emily Ann Lyons, 621 Alberts street. Mr. Orr is a'son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Eugene Orr, Old Military road. Family and close friends of Miss Lyons, attended the first shower December 8 at the home of Mrs. Carl Norris, 105 Lozier lane. Co-hostesses were Mrs. W. D. Clawson and Miss Sue Brill. Bells and flowers decorated the rooms for the event at tended by 15 guests. The second shower, held De cember 10, was given by Mrs. Duane Boyd and Mrs. LeRoy Stegall at the Boyd residence, 835 West 12th street. Eight close friends of the bride-elect attended.
