(UPI Telephoio) Senior Activity Center To form Dramatic Group Mrs. Max Wimmer, former president of Footlighters and Interested in developing la tent talent in dramatics, has consented to coach a group at the Senior Activity Center. It will meet every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon start ing November 18. , 1 A large group from the Fifty Plus club members have already signed up for this lei sure time activity. Among them is Dr. Frank Roberts who starred with Mrs. Wim mer in a Footlighters produc tion, "The Wooden Bowl," two years ago. Any man or woman over 00 who would like to learn to act for fun, or who could help the group as make up artists and stage hands, is invited to come out to the Center at 601 East Jackson street a week from Wednesday. This is the newest development in the program at the center which In the past year has devel oped artists, woodcarvers and musicians as well as linguist among older citizens. The average age of those participating is between 70 and 80 years .though many in the early fifties are preparing lor retirement by learning new and interesting skills. Twenty four have learned to dance again. - Many Attend ' , Last week some of the Arm Chair Travel group had to sit on tables, so many turned out to see the colored slides of the new state of Alaska and the Inside passage shown by Mrs. Herman Ekerson. Monday afternoon, Novem ber 9, Dr. Earl Johnson, will show slides of African 'veldt and Ethiopia, where he spent four years in army service. Dr. Johnson is a new resident of Medford, having come here to take over the practice of Dr. S. Ralph Dippel, re tired This is one country not yet Shown to the group and a large attendance is expected. The committee in charge of the upkeep of the center would appreciate the dona tion of additional light fold ing chairs; which are very much needed. Rug makers will continue to meet at the center Mondays from . io ajn. until noon. Groups studying Spanish and taking orchestra meet Thurs days from 9 aan. until 12. Music Teachers Plan Discussion ' ' ' : A panel discussion is plan ned for a coming meeting of Rogue Valley District, Oregon Music Teachers' association. . The meeting will be held Thursday, November 10, at 7:45 pan. at the home of Mrs. Karl Peterson, 448 Crowson road, Ashland. Mrs. Harvey Moore will moderate the discussion on the topic "can there be an ef fective link between OMTA and the public schools." Panel members will include Mrs. Virginia Cecil, Dr. Justin Dy rud, and Mrs. Audrey Bart lett. All interested teachers are invited to attend. Pledg Sorority Plans e Service; Card Party Set Alpha Rho chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will pledge rush ees at a meeting Thursday, November 12, at the home of Mrs. Allen Sterton, 1401 Jas per street. The event will be gin at 8:15 p.m. " Women to be pledged ' in the ritual are Mrs. Donald Bills, Mrs. William Kennedy, Mrs. Jack Bailey,, Mrs. Wil liam Remington, Mrs. Steven Hess and Mrs. Gene Roethler. ', Mrs. Robert . Hercher will be in charge of the program entitled "Interpretation of Love." Mrs. Gerald McGrew will assist the hostess. A preferential tea honoring the rushees was held at the home of the chapter director, Mrs. James Callon, Sunday, Nov. 1. Mrs. McGrew poured. Mrs. Callon's home was dec orated with fall floral ar rangements for the occasion. The last chapter meeting was held at the home of Mrs. James Tengesdal October 22. Mrs. Robert Goodman was co hostess. Miss Florence Robi son was in charge of the pro gram entitled "How Is Your Conversation?" Twenty-nine states were represented . and all of the auxiliary's national officers were present, Mrs. Rawls reported. V Each of the officers gave a lecture pertaining to her de partment and the national commander, Mrs. Florence Green, gave a report on Car ville, a leper colony. Shrine Hospital To Receive Gifts Sent by Temple Zuleima temple, Daughters of, the Nile, will meet Satur day, November 14 at 12 noon in the Medford Masonic temple. A covered dish luncheon will precede the business meeting, with Mrs. L. Paul Walker, Mrs. Melvin Krows and Mrs. Robert Hart assist ing Coquille Valley Nile club with the serving. Medford members aa asked to furnish a not dish as their part of the luncheon. Contribution to the Thanks giving boxes that are sent each year to the Shrine hos pital have been listed., Canned f-uit, vegetables, and fruit juices (in tins only); jams and jellies (commercial pack only); pop corn and pop corn oil are acceptable. During the week of Novem ber 8-14 a carton will be available at Weeks and Orr and another at Hudson's Phar macy where the donations from ' the members may be placed. It is important that all items have the cost price on them so that the total value can be tabulated. The two women left the valley last Monday. Inspection Set For Bethel 36 Cave Junction Inspection and initiation will be held at the meeting of Bethel 36, In ternational . Order of Job's Daughters, November 16, at the Masonic temple. A prac tice session for the meeting will take place Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Bethel met Monday, November 2, in the Kerby temple. Honored Queen Linda Prather presided.
