Unity, Nov. 9. 195 Porter's Stand on Red China Rapped Portland - TPS - Dr. Paul Dull, University of Oregon professor of East Asian his tory, took a verbal dig Friday at Rep. Charles O. Porter (D Ore.), now on. a Far Eastern four, for Porter's attacks on this country's policy regard ing Communist China. Dr. Dull told the Portland City club that Peter's re marks are "a curious mixture of criticism and cliches.'' Porter has urged recogni tion of Red China but the U.S. has refused to acknowledge the Communist regime. The educator declared that Porter's charge about this American policy being one of "willful. ignorance" is hot true. "It is what we know," Dr. Dull said, "rather than what we don't know, that causes us to have the policy we now pursue." i". Monday, Nov. 9, over KBES-TV. A panel of physicians and surgeons will show through slides, statistics and x-rays what has happened, and is happening, in tuberculosis control. Appearing on the panel will be Dr. C. I. Drummond, Jack son county health physician; Dr. Duane I. Gillum, radiolo gist, Medford; and Dr. John W. Bradshaw, general prac titioner, and Dr. John R. Reynolds, specialist in ' in ternal medicine, Ashland. The association noted that the public becomes more aware of the tuberculosis problem at this time of the year because of the stepped up public information during the annual Christmas Seal campaign, which . starts next week. Salem Students Draw Suspensions Salem (UPD Eight North Salem high school students have been suspended as a re sult of a prank this week at South Salem high school, North Salem Principal E. A. Carleton said Saturday. The boys were suspended for alleged hanging a dummy on the South Salem flagpole Tuesday night.. The boys admitted the act, the principal said, adding that they would be out of school until conferences with their parents were held. EX-MUSIC CRITIC DIES New York (UPD Noel Straus, 78, former music critic of the New York Times, died of a heart attack Friday. Three others were injured, one critically. Dead are Harry Fisher, 58, Warm Springs, and Robert Downs, 65, Bend. Fisher was dead on arrival at a hospital! Downs died shortly after. . Injured were Alvie Neal Hill, 46, Bend; George Cloud, 18, and Julie Stark, 28, both of Portland. Hill was in criti cal condition. Police said the car driven by Hill went out of control and struck a highway separa tor, then collided with a car driven by Cloud. Fisher and Downs, passen gers in the Hill car, were thrown from the vehicle be fore it left the highway and came to rest in a cabbage field. M. Madden, county clerk. Worst problem - has been with coyote bounty hunters, he noted. Regular bounty hunters know what the law is, Madden said. It has been the new or infrequent hunters who have brought in pieces of the animal and expected payment. Bounties apply to bobcats, cougar, coyotes and porcupines. . The animal mast be present ed to the county clerk of the county in which it was killed within six months after it was killed. Presentation must be made by the person who killed the animal to the county clerk along with a sworn affidavit concerning date, place killed and other information, Mad den concluded.
