Porter's Stand on
Red China Rapped
Portland - TPS - Dr. Paul
Dull, University of Oregon
professor of East Asian his
tory, took a verbal dig Friday
at Rep. Charles O. Porter (D
Ore.), now on. a Far Eastern
four, for Porter's attacks on
this country's policy regard
ing Communist China.
Dr. Dull told the Portland
City club that Peter's re
marks are "a curious mixture
of criticism and cliches.''
Porter has urged recogni
tion of Red China but the U.S.
has refused to acknowledge
the Communist regime.
The educator declared that
Porter's charge about this
American policy being one of
"willful. ignorance" is hot
true. "It is what we know,"
Dr. Dull said, "rather than
what we don't know, that
causes us to have the policy
we now pursue."
i". The professor however, did
advocate admission of Ameri
man newsmen to Communist
China saying "We would then
probably have to admit Chi
nese newsmen to this country
"and it might be a good ex
change." : Bruce Bauer

I Rules for Bounty
Noted by Madden
i The entire skin of an animal
including at least one paw
and tail must be brought to
the county clerk's office- be
fore a bounty payment can
be made, according to E. M.
Madden, county clerk.
Worst problem - has been
with coyote bounty hunters,
he noted. Regular bounty
hunters know what the law is,
Madden said. It has been the
new or infrequent hunters
who have brought in pieces
of the animal and expected
payment. Bounties apply to
bobcats, cougar, coyotes and
porcupines. .
The animal mast be present
ed to the county clerk of the
county in which it was killed
within six months after it was
killed.
Presentation must be made
by the person who killed the
animal to the county clerk
along with a sworn affidavit
concerning date, place killed
and other information, Mad
den concluded.
