A Sunday, Nov. 1, 1959 Methodist Ceremony Weds Couple Miss Viola Dietrich, 939 North Central avenue, became the bride of Charles Hansen, Alameda, Calif., in a cere mony held Saturday, October 24, in Meeker Memorial chap el of First Methodist church. The Rev. Robert Dowrey officiated at the two o'clock afternoon double ring wed ding service. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Peter Dietrich, 939 North Central avenue, and the late Mr. Dietrich. Mr. Hansen is a son of Mrs. Charles Han sen, Canyonville. The bride wore a blue lace ballerina length dress fashion ed with long sleeves and a white feathered hat trimmed with sequins. Her corsage was of white carnations. Edward Schackel gave his niece in marriage.. Mrs. Beulah Osborn was matron of honor. She wore a pink and pale green ensemble and her corsage was of varie gated pink and white carna tions. Michael Dietrich, Beverly Hills, brother of the bride, served as best man. , Mrs. Dietrich wore a blue and pink print silk frock with matching accessories for her daughter's wedding. Her cor sage was of variegated carna tions. Following the wedding a reception was held at the Diet rich home attended by 25 friends and relatives. The bride is a graduate of Medford schools and Southern Oregon college. She was em ployed as a bookkeeper at As sociated Fruit company. Mr. Hansen attended Grants Pass High school and is employed by the Raymond Construction company, Alameda, Calif. They will make their home in Alameda. - Jones-Forrester Ceremony Held Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gene Jones are making their home at 447 Fairmount street, fol lowing their wedding Octo ber 14 at Bethel Assembly of God church. The Rev. Lawr ence D. Krause officiated at the seven o'clock , evening ceremony. The bride is the former LuVern Forrester, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David For rester, Tulelake, Calif. Mr. Jones is a son of Mrs. Mable Brown, Weed, Calif., and G. W. Bever, route 1, box 88, Eagle Point, became the bride of Norman Wood ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Woodward, Vilas road, Thursday, October 15, at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Medford. The date was the wedding anniversary of the bridegroom's parents. The Rev. John Simon per formed the ceremony at 8 o'clock before 150 guests. Lavender and white stock decorated the altar and white bows lined the aisle. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace, styled with a tiered skirt. She carried a bouquet of white roses. Her maid of honor was Mrs. John Millard, sister of the bridegroom. Other attendants were Miss Maxine Woodward, a cousin of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Errol Tresham and Mrs. Lawrence Regester. All wore lavender brocade sheath dresses and carried white and lavender carnations. - Miss Kay Bever, the bride's sister , served as candlelighter and little Laurie Millard, the bridegroom's four - year - bid niece, was flower girl. They also wore lavender frocks. John Millard, the bride groom's brother-in-law, was best man. Clyde Bever, Den nis Boren and Harry Knoble seated guests. Mrs. John Millard, sister of the bridegroom, sang tradi tional wedding music at the ceremony and reception which followed at the church. Mrs. Agnes Smith was or ganist. The young couple traveled to San Francisco for their wedding trip and are making their home on Crater Lake avenue, Medford. Both attend ed Eagle Point schools and the bride has been an em ployee of the Big Y market. The bridegroom is a truck driver. Relatives coming from out of town for the event includ ed the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. John ston, Oakland, California. Miss Knorr is the daughter of Mrs. Leona Petersen, 1745 Or chard Home court and Mr. Johnston is the son of Bert Johnston, San Francisco, Calif. The double-ring ceremony, held September 27, was at the home of the bridegroom's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mulloy, Piedmont, Calif.' White gladioli, chrysan themums and stock decorated the Mulloy residence. Dr. H. T. Eymann of the Piedmont Community church perform ed the ceremony. About 35 guests attended. The bride wore a cham pagne satin dress with harem skirt and fitted bodice with scoop neckline and bell sleev es in matching nylon. Her hat was a matching pillbox with short fitted veil. She carried an orchid. Miss Barbara Johnson, for merly of Medford, was the bride's only attendant. She wore a princess style pastel green dress with scoop neck and three-quarter length sleeves and matching green headband. Van Dilbeck, Oakland, Calif., was best man. The bride's mother wore a wool sheath of royal blue and matching hat. A reception followed the ceremony Miss Suzanne John ston, sister of the bridegroom, cut the wedding cake and Miss Maxine Lyall served the punch. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Carmel on the Monterey peninsula, and are now making their home at 1825 Fruitvale avenue, Oak land. In Oakland for the wedding were the bride's mother, her brother, Bill Knorr and Mrs. Lenora Henbest, aunt of the bride, all of Medford. The bride was graduated from Medford High school and is employed as executive secretary for the vice presi dent of Trans-Ocean Airlines. Mr. Johnston was graduated from Chico High school, Chi co, Calif., and has served four years in the Army Air Force., He is employed by the Robert Mulloy Construction com pany, and also attending Oak land City college, jtnajoring in electronics. . " Harvest Ball Set At Country Club First formal event at Rogue Valley Country club for the fall and winter season will be a Harvest Ball Saturday, November 7 in the Starlight room. Co-chairmen are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bayliss. Cocktails will be served from 8 to 9 o'clock, with a buffet dinner to follow. Greeting guests will be Dr. and Mrs. Oscar J. Halboth, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Six, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Littrell, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kellenburger and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morris. Decorations in the harvest themo are being planned by the Bakers, Mr. and Mrs. Bay liss, Mr. and Mrs. Six, the Morrises and the Kellen burgers. The event is for Country club memberi and their guests. , . Recent Parties Honor Visitors Recent visitors in the valley were Mr. and Mrs. G. Coyle Briggs, Berkeley, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. C. Glenn Smith, Orinda, former Medford resi dents, and Mr. and Mrs. Y. S. Christianson, who divide their time between their homes in Medford and Oakland, Calif. A number of parties were given for the visitors. Enter taining were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Norris, Mr. and Mrs. Ben J. Trowbridge and Mrs. Robert Hart. The Christiansons also gave a cocktail party during their stay here. . Two Daughters Plan Visit Here Mrs. James Keeble and Mrs. Jack Bergstrom are expected to arrive in the valley the first of the week from Newport Beach, Calif., to visit their mother, Mrs. Floyd Hart Sr., Grant road. The two are mak ing the trip at this time in order to attend a performance of The Follies being given by Medford Junior Service league Wednesday and Thurs day nights at the Craterian theater. Guests of Mrs. Hart last week were Mrs. Frederick Heath, Mrs. Donald Long and Mrs. James Givnan, all of Portland. Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Long both formerly lived in Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Johnston Dinner Parties to Precede Performances of Follies Interest in the Junior Serv ice league Follies is height ened this week by a number of cocktail and dinner par ties to precede the two per formances. The Follies are be ing presented Wednesday and Thursday, November 3-4 at the Craterian theater to raise funds for the league's kinder garten for children with hear ing and speech difficulties. Largest of the pre-theater parties is planned by Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Littrell who have invited 70 guests to Rogue Valley Country club for cock tails and dinner Wednesday night. In Ashland Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Skerry Jr., are giv ing a cocktail and supper party for a group of Ashland friends. The Skerrys are en tertaining at their home, 580 Morton street. Among the guests will be Robert Ed wards, formerly of Ashland and now of Corning, N.Y., who is to arrive in the valley Wednesday for a brief stay. Mr. Edwards, who was on the staff of the Ashland Tidings and later was public relations director for Southern Oregon college, is now public rela tions director for the Corning office of the Corning Glass Works. He will leave Thurs day for Los Angeles. Another party on the calen dar for Wednesday night be fore The Follies is a no-host event planned by a group of sustaining members of the Service league. The first was held October 24 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arlon Skin ner. Last evening the cast gathered at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Donald Herried for an informal party. Couple Leaves For Portland Mr. and Mrs. Eric Went- worth and small son, John, left last week for Portland where they will make their home. Mr. Wentworth, who has been on the news staff of The Medford Mail Tribune. is joining the staff of the Oregonian. ". The Wentworths, who made their home at 217 Windsor avenue, were honored at a number of small farewell par ties before their departure. Among these was one held at the home of Mr. and Mrs Dunbar : Carpenter, Foothills road. Last . Sunday, evening the Wentworths held open house for a group of friends. Marlys Franklin Student at OCE Miss Marlys Evon Franklin, 1470 - Kings highway, is en rolled at Oregon College of Education at Monmouth this fall term. She is a special stu dent majoring in elementary education. The undergraduate teacher education program at the school attracted 791 students this year, and pre-professional and general studies enrolled 164 more. About 60 freshmen and sophomores are enrolled in an expanded honors pro gram which offers enriched study for top-talent students. Guests Here Houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip A.
