r 41k ,j i fc Medford Tribune MEDFORD. OREGON, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1959 Follies of 1959 This is a kindergarten, an unusual and unique kindergarten 'operated by Medford Junior service league. Only children with serious hear ing and speech difficulties are admitted to the school; the teacher is one with specialized training and the equipment is designed particularly for use with the deaf. Pictured using a group hearing aid are the kindeergarten pupils Lyle Petty (far left), Janis Larson, Mrs. Norman E. Because it takes a lot of money to operate this unique ' kindergarten, Junior Service league members, their husbands and friends are giving the biennial Junior Service league Follies November "'" 4-5 at the Craterian theater. Follies mean gay songs and dances, humorous skits and witty lines. Wearing colorful green, white and orange costumes and headdresses for a Cha-Cha number are (left to right) Mrs. Jonathan Mid dleton, Mrs. Donald Herried, Mrs. Charles Mickelson and Mrs. Robert Turner. Authentic Haitian steps are used for this dance. Mike Johnson, rehearsal musician for The Follies, has been on a day and night schedule. '; ; A skit based on music from the popular Broadway hit, "The Music Man" will feature Mrs. Houston Pitts (at left) Rodger Sterton, Mrs. Gordon Hudson and Ben Trowbridge. Costumes will feature long black satin skirts for the women, and striped blazers and straw hats for the men. This number, programmed as "The Good Old Days", will be fast-paced ., and bright.. Tickets for The Follies are on sale at Purucker's, Barker's, Swem's and the Music Mart; curtain time both Wednesday and Thursday will be 8:30 p.m. - : t K A 9 -J . A Every year when rehearsals begin for The Follies, Service league members wish they had started training a couple of months before, for life suddenly becomes very strenuous. Director Peter Thomas of New York City has introduced a number of new dance routines, and pictured as they went through their number one morning last week are (left to right) Mrs. Ronald L. Ricketts, Mrs. L. Scott Ellis, Mrs. C. B. Collins and Mrs. Gordon Hudson, billed as The Champagne Girls in "Memories of Gigi."
