Mekvold, county school superintendent, has announced. , r The meeting would cover methods of transmission and distribution, operation a n programming, and various means of financing such project in this area, he said It would be held in coopera tion with the sight and sound Annual Meeting Of Scouts Slated Here November 8 Dr. Abner Clark has been appointed general chairman Of the 35th annual meeting bf the Crater Lake Council, Boy ScouU of America, Dr. Orval Eaton, activities chair man, has announced. The annual meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Rogue Valley Country club. Included on the agenda for the meeting are the annual business meeting, approval of the 1960 program plans, and election of Council officers and executive board mem bers. J. A. McDougall, Coun cil president, will preside Recognition Banquet - A recognition banquet is scheduled at 6 p.m. to honor outstanding Scouters of the Council and install newly elected officers. The annual meeting also will launch the Golden Anniversary celebrat- Jng SO years of Scouting in this country. , - Dr. Clark will be master f ceremonies for the ban quet, and Dr. Eaton will be in charge of speakers. Mrs. Xloyd Somers heads the ladies program. Others on the com mittee include Jerry Mc Dougall, ceremonies; Ray Johnson, publicity; Ed Cul . bertson, reservations; John Patton, training awards; John Eddy, golden leaders awards; and Robert D. Church, silver beaver awards. Reservations for the meet ing may be made through the Scout office in Medford. Canidates For Directors Named J Ashland - Twelve . candi dates have been nominated for the seven two-year direc torships which will be filled at the Ashland Chamber of Commerce's annual election Nov. 10. J Candidates are Paul Mat hews, George Felger, Hersch el Scott, Ben Lombard, Rob ert Dolph, Arnold Wolfe, Nelson Damon, Clarence Bell, Richard Isaacs, Henry Galey, Floyd Vogel and Phil Wind sor. Felger is now filling out ihe term of Elliot Motschen- bacher, who moved to Rose- burg. ' They were nominated at a luncheon meeting here last week. Mrs. Velma Jones, secre tary, reported on the annual - convention of the Oregon Chamber of Commerce Execu tives association in Eugene. She said a strong drive for additional tourist business will be stressed throughout the state next year, and the travel division of the high way commisison plans a spe cial advertising campaign. . Also discussed at. the con vention were ways of increas ing chamber membership, she said. . Emmett Whitham, presi dent of the chamber, said a planned program will feature each of the weekly meetings in the future. Daies Being Considered Dates being considered for such a conference, Mekvold said, are Dec. 2 and 3 and Dec. 9 and 10. The meeting would be held in Hedrick Junior High school's little theater with about 2Q0 school officials, board members, PTA chairmen and other in terested people attending. Williams said the company has worked with Dr. Jack Edling on educational televi sion to get a better insight on the schools md their prob lems with and uses of educa tion television, either closed circuit or broadcast. "It is now possible to put your own educational broad cast TV station on the air at approximately one-quarter to one-third the previously estimated cost," Williams said. Other Conferences He said that such confer ences have been held in Aber deen and Richland, Wash., and in Portland and Beaver- ton, Ore. Mekvold said he believed that "we will be making more use of educational television in certain areas and at cer tain age limits." He added that "we also have, the prob lem of some thinking that educational ' television can be developed overnight to take care of our problems of teach er shortage and growing en rollments. I think it is neces sary that we evaluate care fully and move only in those directions that can be definite ly proved to be beneficial."
