Odemar of beating her three-year-old child to death, collapsed after screaming, "I did it." Judge Odemar stated he could not convict the woman on the basis of the medical testimony. Mrs. Ellis is supported by Deputy Sheriff Faryl Patton, left to right, and Fred Irvine, right, as she leaves the courtroom in Los Angeles. The deputy in the rear is unidentified. . (UPI Telephoto) Bombing Threats In Schools Present Problems for Heads Dayton, Ohio (LTD - A tele phone rings in a school and a secretary answers. A curt voice says, "A bomb is going to explode in your school soon. We mean business." The caller hangs up. If you are a school super intendent, responsible for the well-being of 5,000 young ster', what do you do? Dismiss school for the day and encourage a prankster who wanted you to do exactly that? Or assemble sheriffs depu ties and school custodians to conduct a hasty search of your five sprawling schools while the pupils remain in their classes and you pray the caller didn't "mean busi ness"? - ' ,. Problem Faces Superintendent This problem today faced Vaughn Lewis, superintend ent of schools in-prosperous, rapidly growing Beaver Creek Township, just outside the southwestern Ohio city of Dayton. The 4,700 students under Lewis' jurisdiction lost a day of schooling . this week be cause of a telephoned bomb threat, the latest in a series in the five-county area which in cludes the Dayton and Cin cinnati metropolitan centers, s The first scare occurred in 'TCorth College Hill, a suburb ;bf Cincinnati, in September. Officials closed the schools ior a day but reopened them th following Saturday and made attendance mandatory. .The school' received; no more threats. Woman Phones Threat ' A woman telephoned police In Carlisle, a small town 10 miles south of Dayton, Mon day and said a bomb had been planted in a school. About 1,400 students were sent home. Police searched all schools in the town but found no bomb. Tuesday, a caller tele phoned the Sugar Creek school in Bellbrook, near Bea ver Creek Township, at 12:15 p.m. He said a bomb would go off within 45 minutes. School was dismissed for the day. ; Lewis said he thought the call - his school system re ceived was just the beginning of another rash.
