Newlyweds Honored at Reception Mr. and Mrs. Ted W. Dow were honored at a garden re ception August 16 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beare, 2728 Howard avenue. The couple were married July 25 at the First Methodist church, Reno, with the Rev. Floyd Marker officiating. Mrs. Dow is the former Miss Sybil Walker, Phoenix. Mr. Dow is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R Dow of Rogue River drive, Eagle Point. Mrs. Beare, sister of the bridegroom, and Mr. Beare attended the couple at their Reno wedding. . The bride wore a white sheath frock for the ceremony. Fifty guests attended the reception. Mrs. Thomas Han nah, Eagle Point, cousin of the bridegroom, cut and serv ed the cake and Mrs. Leroy Nogle, sister of the bride, pre sided at the punch bowl. Miss Sharon Beare, niece of the bridegroom, was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Edward Dalmer, Prineville, aunt of the bridegroom, assisted with the event. White and yellow dahlias decorated the area for the reception, furnished by Mrs. Ted Silkwood, Central Point, great aunt of the bride groom. Mrs. Dow attended Rogue River academy and Phoenix schools. Mr. Dow attended Eagle Point High school, Southern Oregon college and Oregon State college. He js employed during the summer by Steve Wilson. They are making their home, at Haw thorne apartments here. Beginners Class To Start Soon In Square Dancing A class for persons inter ested in learning to square dance will be held at the Up per Grange hall ' starting Saturday, September 12, Dan ny Neill, Medford, caller and( Instructor, has announced. The Rev. James Fraley officiated at the three o'clock afternoon rites. . The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. Edgar Louk, Pleasant Hill. The bride groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Anzel C. Conley, Butte Falls. - Baskets of yellow and white gladiolus decorated the dhurch for the double ring ceremony and lighted candles in cande labra were at the altar. She carried a bouquet of yellow rosebuds and steph-anotis. Miss Alda Wright, Pleasant Hill, was maid of honor, Bridesmaids were Miss Dar- lene Gates, Harrisburg, and Miss Sharlene Tinker, Pleas ant Hill. They wore yellow dotted "nylon organdy frocks over taffeta with taffeta cum merbunds and matching head dresses. They carried crescent shaped bouquets of yellow and white chrysanthemums. Can dlelighter was Miss J e a n a Hartley, Coos Bay. She wore a frock styled as the bride's at tendants. Gordon Conley, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Seating the guests were Larry Thornton, Sutherlin; Ronald Whaley, Blue River; and Fred Louk, Pleasant Hill, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Bernard Lockman and Mrs. Robert Ol son, both Pleasant Hill, cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. Leo Lockman, Cor- vallis, and Mrs. Henry Olson, Pleasant Hill, all aunts of the bride, presided at the punch bowl. Miss Mary Ann Louk, Springfield, aunt of the bride, poured the coffee. Mrs. Alvin Olson and Mrs. Patricia Olson, both Pleasant Hill, aunt and cousin of the bride, respective ly, were at the gift table. Miss Jan Herring, Coquille, and Miss Joan Mathew, Coos Bay, were in charge of the guest book. For her daughter's wedding and reception Mrs. Louk wore a cinnamon colored lace frock with light green accessories. Mrs. Conley chose a multi-colored sheer, d a c r o n in fall shades with white accessories. Their corsages were yellow rosebuds and stephanotis. The couple traveled to the coast on their wedding trip. The bride wore for traveling a navy blue linen suit with white accessories and the yel low rose corsage from her wedding bouquet. They are making their home in Ashland where both members of the couple are students at South ern Oregon college. During the summer Mr. Conley is em ployed by Austin King, Med ford. Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Con ley, Butte Falls, parents of the bridegroom; Mrs. Dollie Love, Medford, aunt of the bride groom; Ivar Fauske, Seattle, great uncle of the bride; Jim Lockman, San Diego, cousin of the bride; Miss Millie Hag ne, Morgan Hill, Calif.; Miss Sherry Crawford, Bonanza, Ore.; Miss Charlene Ross, To ledo,' Ore.; Mr. Lockman, Cor vallis; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wright, Ashland.. Michigan Family Visits Relatives Butte Falls - Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Stoddard and sons, Clay, Scott, and Peter, of De troit, Mich., recently spent their vacation with Mrs. Stod dard's parents Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Stoddard, Butte Falls. They traveled by car, and visited Yellowstone park, the Black Hills of South Dakota, and other points of interest. Upon leaving, they visited Mrs. Calvin Stoddard's broth er, Bill White at Palo Alto, and mother, Mrs. John White, Salt Lake City, Utah, who was also in Palo Alto. Several days were spent at Disneyland, before returning home. An event of August 9 in Portland was the wedding of Miss Margie June Hanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hanson, 177 Winema Way, and William F. Brath, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brath, Portland. The ceremony was held at 7:30 o'clock in the evening at Mt. Tabor Seventh-day Ad ventist church with 350 rela tives and friends attending. Elder W. L. Schopflin, Battle ground, Wash., principal of Columbia academy, officiated. He is a former teacher of the bride. Baskets of white gladiolus and baby breath decorated the church and candelabra hold ing lighted white candles were along the center aisle and at the front of the church. Roger Hanson was organist and play ed compositions for the pro cessional and recessional which he had composed for the ceremony. Mrs. Charles Blphm sang. Silk Taffeta Gown The bride wore a white silk taffeta gown styled on prin cess lines with long sleeves and portrait neckline which was edged in lace iridescent sequins and seed pearls. The bouffant skirt was trimmed with medallions of lace, se quins and seed pearls and a back bustle fell to a chapel sweep train. Her fingertip length illusion veil was held by a crowd of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of white baby roses, stephanotis and ivy. Mr. Hanson gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Norma Brainard, was maid of honor and Miss Sher ron Clemenson, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Sally Peterkort, both Portland, were bridesmaids. They wore herb green taffeta sheath dresses with matching satin sashes and headdresses and carried nosegay bouquets of white baby roses and ivy. Gary R a d k e, Portland, served as best man. Seating the guests were Robert Brath, brother of the bridegroom; Peter Nosier, Michael Foy, Wallace Johnson, Richard Slaybaugh, and Michael Alt man, all Portland. Mother's Dresses For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Hanson wore a white lace sheath dress over light blue satin with matching blue ac cessories. Mrs. Brath chose a Valley Visitor A. C. Whittaker, Salt Lake City, Utah, arrived in Med ford Wednesday to visit at the home of Mr., and Mrs. W. H. Buckingham, 27 Lincoln street. Mr. Whittaker is an uncle of Mrs. Buckingham. The visitor plans to remain in the valley about a week. beige silk sheath dress with matching accessories. Their corsages were of pink roses. Mrs. E. M. Carlson, Monterey, Park, Calif., grandmother of the bridegroom, wore a royal blue silk dress with matching hat and black accessories. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Pompeiian room in the Con gress hotel attended by 300 relatives and friends. White gladiolus, baby breath and ivy decorated the tables and silver candle holders held white tapers. Mrs. Joseph Peterkort, Port land, and Mrs. Carl Sundin, Monterey Park, Calif., aunt of the bridegroom, -cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. John Miklos, Angwin, Calif., and Mrs. Herbert Schwandt, Glendale, Calif., aunts of the bride, presided at the punch bowls. Mrs. Har old Enneberg, Portland, aunt of the bridegroom, and Miss Sandra Sundin, Monterey Park, were at the gift table. Miss Donna Jean Stewart, Portland, was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Harvey Clemenson, Portland, aunt of the bridegroom, was in charge of the reception. Wedding Trip The couple traveled to the coast on their wedding trip, the bride wearing a light grey wool suit with matching grey and blue' accessories with white rose corsage. They are making their home in Port land until September when they will leave for Walla Walla, Wash., where the bride groom will resume his studies at the Walla Walla college as a senior majoring in physics. The bride is a gradu ate of Milo academy and is also a student at Walla Walla college. Mr. Brath attended Portland Union academy. Among the out of town guests attending the weddmg and reception were Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Brainard, Med ford; Carl Sundin, Monterey Park, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Lathrop and four children, San Gabriel, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Gable, Seattle, Wash., all uncles and aunts of the bridegroom; and John Miklos and children, Anqwin, Calif., uncle of the bride. The evening prior to the wedding a rehearsal buffet supper was held at the Brath home attended by members of the bridal party and out of town guests. The bride was honored at several showers prior to the wedding. Mrs. Cornell Sabo and Mrs. Eldon Brainard were hostesses for one shower held at the Girls Community club here. In Portland Miss Sher- ron Clemenson and Miss Sally Peterkort gave one shower and Mrs. Oliver Davis and Mrs. Peterkort were hostesses for another. AAUW Theme Is Education "Education 1 to 90-Commu-nity Accomplishments and Possibilities" is the program theme for the coming year of the Medford branch of the American Association of Uni versity Women. Mrs. Calvin Smith, program chairman, announced the theme at an executive board meeting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Donald Walters, 818 South Peach street. A new membership ruling which makes all women grad uates of any AAUW approved college or university eligible for membership was told by Mrs. Edwin Gebhard, first vice president. Also emphasiz ed was the approval of East ern Oregon College of Educa tion, LaGrande. Local women who may be affected by either change are asked to call Mrs. Gebhard, NOrmandy 4-1841, or the president, Mrs. Roy Elmgren, SPring 3-2658. Mrs. W. F. Brath (Bruno photo) Shower Honors Celeste Huffman Eagle Point - Miss Celeste Huffman, bride-elect of Vin cent Hutchison, Hillsboro, was honored, with a bridal shower Monday evening at the teen age club. Mrs. Don Kimmel, aunt of Miss Huffman, and Miss Geor gia Weidman.were co-hostesses for the shower.. The room was decorated with orange gladiolus and a four tier wed ding cake was in the center on the table. As the bride-elect opened her gifts, Miss Ellen Callaghan assisted in tabulating the gifts. Miss Carol West made a rib bon corsage from the package ribbons. The cake, decorated by Mrs. Kimmel and Mrs. David Kahl, was cut and served by Miss Weidman, Mrs. Don Kimmel and Miss Ellen Callaghan. Miss West presided at the punch bowl. Miss Huffman is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Kimmel, South B street. Mr. Hutchison is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hutchison, Hillsboro.
