The wedding of Mrs. Hazel dean Hohensee, 331 Haven street, to Lee Harold Smith, 801 Newtown street, was held Sunday, August 18, at Grand Lake, Colo. A reunion of the bride's family, the first such gather ing in 20 years, took place at the wedding, which was held in the Grand Lake Com munity church. The double-ring ceremony was performed at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Sterling Alam of Granby, Colo. Community church. ' Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Waldo, Denver, attended the couple. The bride wore an off-white two-piece suit and carried a white Bible topped with Hawaiian wood roses, oak leaves and bronze-toned fujli. . Mrs. Waldo wore a multi colored silk taffeta ensemble with white accessories. Her corsage was of white and autumn-toned fujii. Native wildflowers and candles decorated the church. The bride's brother, Rennison Read, played two clarinet so los and her sister, Mrs. Rich ard Eames, Grand Lake, played the organ. Mrs. Eames also planned the dinner which followed. - The newlyweds will reside at 801 Newtown street follow ing their return from a trip to visit the bridegroom's fam ily in Kansas. They plan to stop at Taos, New Mexico, the Painted Desert, Grand .Canyon and Las Vegas en -route. j Members of the bride's 'family who were reunited at I the event included her broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rennison Read, and chil ' dren, Steve and Tom; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Hollis Read, and .son, John, who flew from 'New York City; brother-in- . . The honored couple were surprised with . a decorated anniversary cake .made by their granddaughter, Mrs. Wil liam Barlow. Others attend ing were Mrs. Barlow's small son, Michael Barlow, and the Quinn's son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitlock, aU Medford. The couple were married in Alma, Neb. on August 17, 1911 and lived near Blooming- law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Eames, and daughter, Linda; and the bride's children, Brenda and John. The bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester H. Burn ham, Laconia, N.H., were un able to attend. The bride is a graduate of Southern Oregon college and is a music and art teacher in the Medford public schools. Retiring from ranching in 1924, the Quinns moved to San Diego, Calif., where he owned and operated a garage and service station until 1946 when they moved to southern Oregon, purchasing the Casa Rogue Motel north of Gold Hill. Mrs. Quinn is president of the Amethyst Rebekah Friend ship club of which she is a charter member. An active member of the Amethyst lodge and Gold Hill Health unit, her hobby is crocheting. Mr. Quinn spends his leisure hours tending his flowers and lawn. Kiwanian Dames Plan Coffee Hour Mrs. Ray Baker is holding a "coffee hour" for the Kiwan ian Dames at her home, Table Rock Vista ranch, route 2, box 273, Central Point, Wednes day, August 26, at 10 a.m.t All Kiwanian Dames are invited and it is suggested that all wishing to attend meet at the rear of the Big Y Market, Table Rock road, in order to have a guided tour to the ranch. Valley Point X V iWWS ' 21 Monica Sheets Is Bride of D.G.Anderson Miss Monica Sheets became the bride of Duke Gilbert An deYson Thursday, August 13, in a wedding at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton M. Anderson, 260V Eastover terrace. The bride, a daughter of Mrs. Nettie Sheets, Forest Grove, wore a white lace gown with matching head piece and carried a white or chid bouquet. A friend, Thom as Culbertson, gave her mar riage. The Rev. G. Robert Jacks of the First Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony. Kenneth Leek served as best man and Mrs. Marie Kines, Forest Grove, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Ushers were Rick Colver and Jerry Anderson. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Harold Colver, Mrs. Culbertson and Mrs. Max Mul hollin. The bride was graduated from Forest Grove high school in 1958. The bridegroom was graduated from Medford High school in 1954 and from Pa cific University college of op tometry with a doctor of op tometry degree in 1959. He is to attend navy offi cer's candidate school at New port, R. I., from September 28 to January 8 before being commissioned' into the naval medical corps. The newlyweds are employ ed at Pinnacle' Packing com pany this summer and are making their home at the Eastover terrace address. 4 Gamma Phi Beta Sorority to Meet Alumna and active mem bers of Gamma Phi Beta so rority will hold a swim party Wednesday, August 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack Crawford, 1503 East Main street. J f r ' ' Mr. and Mrs. Duke 'Great River of the West' Booklet Published by League " Great River of the West," a fact-filled booklet on Colum bia River Basin resources and problems will be published in September by the League of Women Voters of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Mon tana. Mrs. Joseph E. Spang, water resources chairman for the Oregon League, said that ma terial for the booklet was as sembled by league research committees in the four states, then edited, compiled, and il lustrated by league members. The information has been checked for "accuracy and bi as" by experts in the water resources field from each state. Included is a color map obtained from the U. S. corps of engineers showing present and future reservoirs, flood zones and irrigated lands. Concensus on principles governing the use of water resurces will" be compiled in the local leagues and forward ed to the national office in November. Support of legisla tion in line with agreements reached will be possible once a "go-ahead" has been given by state and national league boards, she explained. Mrs. Baker will attend a re gional workshop in Portland October 3 to plan for presenta tion of the material in discus sion meetings later in the month.
