A Sunday, Aug. 23, 1959 Relatives Here Attend Rites In California Several Medford relatives attended the August 8 wed ding in Hayward, Calif., of Miss Beverly Pearl Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed- ,die Powell, San Leandro, Calif., formerly of Medford, and Laverne A. Lamkin, Jr., Hayward, Calif. The rites were held at 8 o'clock in the evening at First Presbyterian church with the Rev. John Pickrell officiating. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Lamkin. Matron of honor was Mrs. Perry Sneed, 800V4 Beekman avenue, Medford, cousin of the bride. Brides matron was Mrs. Joseph Ferreira, San ". Leandro, and Little Barbara Lamkin, Hayward, was flow- The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a Chantilly lace and net gown fashioned with lace bodice and floor length full net skirt. " Her veil was held by a small crown and she carried white roses encircled by yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Sneed wore a floor '. length turquoise gown and carried white carnations en circling yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Ferreira wore a lavender dress and also carried carna- ' tions and rosebuds. John Lamkin, Hayward, served as nesx man ana jvit. Ferreira and James Worthen, ' Hayward, seated the guests. , Denise Turner, San Leandro, -. was ring bearer. Following the ceremony a - reception was held at the ; Moose hall, Castro Valley. The couple traveled to Lake Ta- hoe on their wedding trip. They will make their home '. in San Leandro. The bride attended Roose ' velt Elementary school in . Medford and was graduated from San Lorenzo High ' school. She is employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company. Among the valley relatives of the bride attending were Mrs. Roy Watkins, grand mother; Mrs. Ralph Peyton, aunt; Mrs. Joe Madden and Mrs. Guy Havice, cousins. Also Mrs. Steven Stephenson, Mrs. Jim Hodgson, and Mr. Sneed and small son. . Arrives Jesse H. Bowman arrived in Medford Thursday from Co vin a, Calif., and is visiting with his son and family, the A. L. Bowmans at 3594 Rob erts road. i j Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bryon Russell (Brainerd photo) Medford Family Returns From Extended Vacation Mr. and Mrs. William Dav enport, 405 North Central avenue, and daughters, Joann and Elaine, returned last week from a six weeks trip through out the United States. The family left the valley June 6 and visited Boulder dam, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, El Paso, Juarez, Mexico, and New Orleans. From there they traveled through the Gulf states to Day tona Beach Fla., and up the eastern coast to Washington, D. C. During their two weeks stay in the capital they visited Bernard West, former school mate of the Davenports who is now in charge of personnel at the White House. Mr. West took the family on a private tour of the White House dur ing their visit. The family also attended sessions of the House of Representatives and the Senate. From Washington, D. C, they drove to New York City, parking their house trailer in a trailer park near Lincoln tunnel only 15 minutes from downtown Manhattan. While in New York City they visited the; United Na tions building and attended a session. From there they drove to Niagara Falls, Cleve land, and Chicago where they visited Mrs. Davenport's broth er, Homer Vanscoy, and chil dren. While in Chicago they saw the White Sox beat the New York Yankees 3 to 1. From Chicago the family traveled to their former hometown, Creston, Iowa, where they visited relatives for two weeks before returning to the valley by the way of Salt Lake City. t Rickey Return From Europe Trip Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Ricker, Plaza apartments, . returned recently from a three-month trip to Europe, where they visited their son and daughter-in-law, Capt. and Mrs. John K. Ricker, and children, Sharon, Rickie and Kim, in Nuremberg, Germany. The Rickers traveled to Eu rope aboard the SS American and spent some time in Italy, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, France and other areas before returning by jet airliner. time for a NEW hairdo! The Rev. Melvin W. Dixon, St. Luke's Methodist church, officiated at the eight o'clock evening ceremony held on the bride's birthday. More than 200 relatives and friends at tended. Baskets of melon and white gladiolus decorated the church and satin bows marked the pew ends. Miss Linda Smith, was solo ist. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a floor-length white tulle and Chantilly lace gown fashioned with fitted bodice with long sleeves and scalloped neck line. Her fingertip length veil was held by a scalloped crown of seed pearls and she carried a crescent shaped bouquet of carnations and butterfly orchids. Mrs. John Beleck, Eugene, was matron of honor and Miss Myda McCabe was brides maid. Bridesmatrons were Mrs. E. W. Robinson, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Gary Hart. They wore bro caded taffeta sheath dresses in pale pink and melon shades. Their headdresses were pale pink tulle circlets, held by pink satin bands and they carried bouquets of white gladiolus tied with melon colored ribbon. Candlelighters were Miss Julie Ann Barclay, sister of the bride, and Miss Lucinda Magruder, cousin of the bride. Little Barbara Jane Barclay, sister of the bride, was flower girl. Jair .Robin son, nephew of the bride groom, was ring bearer. Fred Greene, Eagle Point, served as best man for his cousin. Tom Hamlin, David Reese, Mr. Shasta, cousin of the bridegroom; Gerald Fan ger and Tony Brauner seated the guests. For her daughters' wedding and reception which followed in the church reception hall, Mrs. Barclay chose a blue lace frock styled on princess lines with matching . accessories. Mrs. Russell wore a pale lav ender sheath frock with white accessories. Their corsages were white carnations. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Edward Radzweit,: Mrs. Russell Heysell, Mrs. Richard Mackley, and Mrs. Fred Greene. The reception was under the direction of Mrs. Jessie Minear assisted by members of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. Miss Barbara Pierce and Tony Brauner were at the gift table and Miss Helen Granger was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. J. E. Vincent decorat ed the church. Miss Barbara Jane Barclay passed the individually wrapped bridegroom's cake and Miss Barclay and Miss Lucinda Magruder passed bas kets of rice. Following the ceremony the couple traveled to Port land on their wedding trip, the bride wearing a beige and white checked suit with matching accessories and white orchid corsage. They will make their home in Klamath Falls after Septem ber 15 where Mr. Russell is a student at Oregon Technical Institute. The bride and bridegroom attended Medford High school. Among the out of town wedding guests were Mr. and Mrs. L e 1 b u r n Magruder, Brunswick, Mo., grandparents of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mackley and family, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Eugene Magruderand daughter and son, Lucinda and Gary, Seat tle, Wash.; and Mrs. David Reese and David Jr. and Jona than, Mt. Shasta. 4 Wedding Planned For September 12 Mr. and Mrs. William H. Mc- Kinley, 124 Newtown street, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carol, to William Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton L. Jordan, LaJolla, Calif. Miss McKinley was grad uated from Medford High school in 1957 and is an ac countant at the Salem office of Allstate Insurance com pany. Mr. Jordan, a 1956 gradu ate of LaJolla High school, studied engineering and mathematics at the Universi ty of Wyoming. He played baseball with the Vancouver Mounties of the Pacific Coast league and has traveled with the team over the greater part of the United States and Cen tral and South America. The young man plans to en ter the title insurance, busi ness as an engineer. Their wedding has been set for September 12. Tinsley Family Visits Relatives Mrs. T. J. Tinsley, , 3368 Hollywood avenue, and three children, Carole, Susan, and Beverly, will return to Med ford tomorrow from San Di ego from a trip which took them to the Midwest. The family, including Mr. Tinsley, left Medford July 30 for Waukegan, 111., where they visited his parents, Mr, and Mrs. R. R. Tinsley and a brother, R. R. Tinsley Jr, From there they traveled to Chicago where Mr. Tinsley's 93-year-old grandmother, Mrs W. S. Brannum, lives. The Tinsleys then traveled to Springfield, Jacksonville, and Waverly, 111., where they visited other relatives and on to Kirksville, Mo., where a great aunt and uncle of Mrs. Tinsley lives. . From there the family flew to San Diego where they vis ited Mrs. Tinsley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Clark. Mr. Tinsley returned to the valley last week. Sandra Cauble Engaged to Wed Thomas E. Malot Mr. and Mrs. William Ar thur Cauble, Grants Pass, an nounce the engagement of their daughter Sandra Lane Cauble to Thomas Edward Malot, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Malot, 3009 Table Rock road, Medford. Miss Cauble was graduated from Grants Pass High school in 1955 and attended North Texas State college and Southern Oregon colege. She is now employed by the Southern Oregon Title Insur ance company. Mr. Malot was graduated from Crater High school in 1955 and served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. Mackle, De troit, to Dale G. Gott Jr., son of Dale G. Gott, 542 South Ivy street. The bride-elect is a gradu ate of the Michigan State uni versity and was affiliated with Delta Delta Delta soror ity. Her fiance, a senior af MSU, was graduated from Medford High school. John Payne Here From Trip Abroad John Richard Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Payne, Coker Butte road, returned home recently from a siv months trip to Europe. Mr. Payne and a friend, Jerry Close of San Francis left San Francisco for New York City last February. They sailed aboard the British Lines ship, Faxsonia, crossing the Atlantic during one of the worst storms experienced in that area. The boys traveled through England, Wales, Ireland, and while in Scotland were hired by a Walt Disney film crew for three weeks during the filming of "Kidnap." The boy i then crossed to Norway where they located Mr. Close aunt in Alesund. From there they traveled through Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, France and Monaco. Mr. Payne sailed from Lon don aboard the Holland-Amer-ic- lines ship, Stattendan, and returned to the valley by plane fr6m New York City. He will enter Southeastern Missouri State university, Cape Girardeau, Mo., as a ju ior this fall. Club to Meet Here Thursday Sojourner's club will meet Thursday, August 27 at Girls Community club for a regu lar meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wo men who have lived in Med ford or vicinity two years or less are welcome to attend. Snider s Quality DAIRY FOODS Local Lodge Plans August 29 Dance Medford Moose lodge will hold its first big dance of the season at Moose hall Satur day, August 29, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are on sale at the lodge and teen-agers accom panied by parents or guardian will be welcome. Modern dance music and prizes will be given. Mrs. Lloyd Henner was re cently initiated into Women of Moose, having been spon sored by Mrs. William Dean. The annual Moose picnic was held August 16 at Tou Velle park. The group has es tablished a "milk bottle booth" at the Kiwanis fair now underway at the Medford armory.
