A Sunday, Aug. 16, 1959 Miss Nancy Lee Kutledge, 748 North Fourth street, be came the bride of John Wil liam Gustafson Jr., 10 56 South Grape street, in a cere mony held August 8 at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The Rev; George R. V. Bolster of ficiated at the single ring three o'clock afternoon wedding. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Marie D. Rutledge, Wil. sonville, Nebr. The bride groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John William Gustafsdn, 923 Park street. Dr. William A. Rutledge, Greeley, Colo., "gave his sister in marriage. The bride wore a white or gandy gown embroidered with daisies. The bouffant skirt terminated in a chapel train and a Juliet cap held her fingertip length veil. She car ried gi cascade, bouquet of white asters and yellow dai sies with ivy. Mrs. William W., Speer, Crescent City, Calif, attended her sister. She wore a water melon pink chiffon frock with champagne colored accessor ies and carried a cascade bou quet of pink and white daisies with ivy. Robert C. Taylor served as best man for his brother. Ush ers were Robert Shangle, Die Walsh, James Clark and Wil liam W. Speer. White gladioli decorated the church for the ceremony. Miss Shiela Schuerman was soloist, Following the ceremony a reception was. held in the Crest room of the Rogu Val ley Country club. The newlyweds traveled to Mexico City and Acapulco on their wedding trip and will make their home at 1056 South Grape street after Sep tember 1. Jor traveling the bride wore a floral silk frock with pink and white accessories. The bride attended the Uni versity of Nebraska and the University of Oregon and has been first grade teacher at Oak Grove Elementary school for the past two years. Mr. Gustafson attended Southern Oregon college and the Uni versity of Washington. He is associated with Dean and Taylor Pontiac company. V- 17" and UP Shasta Valley Garden Club Holds Meeting Montague - The Shasta Val ley Garden club held their August meeting at the Allen home. During the business session a letter was read from the State of California Garden Club, Inc. A round table dis cussion will be held in Red ding, Calif., September 10 and all garden clubs in the dis trict are invited to attend. September 10 has been des ignated "Garden Club Day" at the California State Fair. All garden clubs may participate. The Shasta Valley Garden club plans to enter a shadow box display at Yreka, Siskiyou County fair. Plans for the September meeting ' of the Garden club include a garden tour. Mem bers will meet at the Lilly home in Montague, at 9 a.m., Friday, September 4. After a tour of the garden they shall proceed to four other homes A barbecue luncheon will be served at noon. A report on the Klamath Falls Garden show was given At the close of the meeting there were several demonstra tions of floral arrangements; gladiolus, roses, zinnias, mari golds, pansies, and four dif ferent kinds of greenery. Also several demonstrations on ar rangements of flowers and fruits and flowers and vegeta bles. Women's Christian 1Z Eating baked bananas at last Saturday night's luau at the Roy Huson horn are. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark (above). Other exotic dishes enjoyed by the large number of guests were fruit and vegetable salads, barbecued chicken and pork and baked salmon. The Clarks, along with other guests, dressed as Hawaiian residents might and wore leis given by the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Huson and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Matlack. Enjoying the barbecued chicken at the festive Hawaiian party were Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Kieff (above) who were among the many colorfully-attired guests at the Ray Huson home. Flowers in the foreground were typical of the large arrangements which decorated the area. Other dishes served by the Husons and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Matlack included rice and fish casseroles, barbecued meats and salads. Baked bananas proved a favorite with guests at the luau and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shinn (above) were no excep tions. A 72-foot table held quantities of Hawaiian food and colorful flowers and island paraphernalia decorated the Huson lawn. It was the second annual Hawaiian party given by the Husons and Ralph Matlacks. Townsend Harmony Clijb Plan Meeting The Townsend Harmony musical program by the Jack- auxiliary club will meet Wed nesday, August 19, at Carpen ters hall. A program will follow -the business hour. Last week two Washington, D. C. Flashes were read by Mrs. Florence Boussum and the club presi dent, Leon Rusho. Thirty -five club members were present and three visitors. Mr. Newman, supervisor of training, sales and service for United Airlines, was responsi ble for delivery of the antherium from Hawaii. Mrs. Thomas Ginn arranged the flowers for the party. The meeting will begin at 10:30 ajn. and each woman is to take her own table service and sack lunch. The refresh ment committee will serve dessert and coffee.
