12 MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford. Or. Friday, July 31, 1959 Jacksonville Church Receives Bequest A bequest of $2,500 has been left to the Jacksonville First Presbyterian church by the late Carrie C. Beekman, early-day resident of Jackson ville who died in Portland July 12 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of C. C. Beekman, founder of the historic Beekman bank at Jacksonville, and granddaugh ter of William Hoffman, one of the founders and first el ders of the church. - She had resided in Portland the last 40 years. The will also leaves over $100,000 to perpetuate teach ing of Northwest history at the University of Oregon and about $75,090 to individuals. Miss Beekman specified that the balance of the estate, after other bequests are paid, be used to establish the Beekman professorship of Northwest and Pacific history at the uni versity in memory of her fa ther and her brother, Benja min B. Beekman. Checks and Cash Stolen From Firm .. Medford police are investi gating the theft of some $2, 508.55 in checks and cash Wednesday from H e n r y's Broiler restaurant, 1206 North Riverside ave. Police said the loot, includ ing about $900 m cash alone, was taken sometime before 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Both cash and checks were in a black cash box in a wooden file cabinet in the restaurant office, according to the report. The burglary was reported by the owner, Henry Rudolph Byers, 1217 Leland st.,- who "told police $20 was missing from the cash drawer a week ago as well.
