Snack Bar Serving Real Coffee No Definite Link Shown in Cancer And Cigarettes London (UPD The British Empire Cancer Campaign said Thursday that five years of experiments with miee, rates and -hamsters had fail ed to uncover a definite link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer. The campaign's annual re port said attempts te induce cancer in the animals with strong concentrations ef ciga rette smoke were negative and that there had been a "lack of success" in other such experiments. More Research Needed It emphasized that further research was necessary. Prof. R. D. Passey of the Chester Beatty Research In stitute said laboratory ex periments with animals sug guests that there might be an indirect connection between smoking and lung cancer. Boy Detained - A 14-year- old Medford boy Wednesday was questioned by police after a complaint had been made to officers the youth had made indecent advances to an 8-year-old girl. The boy was released to the custody of his mother after the county ju venile office was consulted, police said. ' Car Fire - Ashland firemen Thursday doused a car fire in the motor of a vehicle op erated by Mrs. Horace Myers, 555 Liberty st., Ashland. . The fire occurred at Henry and Beach sts.; firemen said, after the vehicle backfired, igniting fuel in the carburetor. There were no injuries. Post- MrSr Post arid her husband moved to Oceanside jn 1923 and own 6d and operated the "Pp?t Posie Box," which was later changed to "Post Flowers." Mr. Post wgs, secretary of pceanside Elks for many years. He preceded her in death in 1940 at Qeeanside. Mrs. Post was a member ef the Order of Eastern Star in Oceanside and was an alumna of Michigan State college. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs, James Rice, Arkansas; and Mrs- EJdmund Ramsay, Jacksonville; one son, Capt, Edwin A- PPSt, Honolulu; three sisters, Mrs. Vaughn Tanner, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. Neil Mar tin apd Mrs. Erwin Fry, both of Fry, Ariz.; nin grandchilT dren and. several neices and nephews.
