TV I w j i 3 Mr. and Mrs. David E. Rasmus tea Rasmussen-Hobbs Rites Held at Methodist Church Miss Glena Lee Hobbs became the bride of David E. Rasmussen in a ceremony held June 14 at three o'clock in the afternoon in First Methodist church. Dr. George Lr. Roseberry officiated at the double ring rites attended by 150 relatives and friends. Ceremony At Chapel Weds Pair The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Marjorie Hobbs, 235 Oak Grove road. Mr. Rasmussen is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lloyd, Rasmussen, 400 North Fifth street, Jacksonville. , Mrs. Ralph Matlack was soloist and was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gerald B. Sherman. Yellow roses and orange blossoms decorat ed the altar and white cande- .labra held yellow tapers White satin bows and daisies marked the pew ends. . The bride wore a white bal lerina length gown fashioned with fitted lace bodice and bouffant net skirt. The elbow length veil was held bv a seed pearl tiara and she car ried a white orchid and white carnations on a white Bible loaned her by her grandmoth er, Mrs. Jack N. Fortin. Mr. Fortin, Eagle Point, gave his ' granddaughter in marriage. Miss Sandra Thurston was jnaid of honor and brides maids were Miss Martha Wy att, Miss Beatrice Rasmussen, both Jacksonville, and Miss Patricia Rushton. They wore yellow brocade sheath dresses with, chiffon streamers and yellow headdresses holding hort yellow veils. Their flow ers were yellow daisies. Miss Thurston's frock was fashion ed with a full skirt. Little Donna Klinele. Eaele Point, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Candlelight ers were Jerry Rasmussen and Jimmy Hagler, both nephews of the bridegroom. Ring bear- er was Johnny Grow, Eagle Point, cousin of the bride. Larry Peterson served , as best man while seating the guests were James Carrier, Loren Seversorff cousin of the bridegroom, and Loyd Ras mussen, brother of the bride groom. Mrs. Hobbs wore a yellow chiffon frock with white and yellow accessories for herj daughter's wedding. Mrs. Ras mussen chose a black and white chiffon frock with white accessories. Their cor sages were of white roses. Following the wedding a reception was held at the church. Assisting at the re ception were Mrs. Donald Klingle, aunt of the bride; Miss Lois Farlow, cousin of the bride; Miss Nancy Eck, and Mrs. Larry Peterson. Miss Robin Wjtett was in charge of the guest book and Miss Nanett Grow, cousin of the bride, was at the gift table. The couple traveled to southern California on ' their wedding trip and will return today to make their home at 108 E street, Jacksonville. For traveling the bride wore a navy blue sheath dress with navy blue and white acces sories. - Both the bride and bride groom have lived their entire lives in the valley. The bride is a graduate of Medf ord High school and is employed as a secretary by the Lewis Ac counting service. Mr. Rasmus sen is a graduate of Jackson ville High school and is em ployed as a mechanic at Ras- mussen'g Service in Jacksonville. Electa Social Club Plans Final Session The last regular meeting of the season of Electa Social club will be held Friday, June 26, at 1 pjn. in the Girls Community club. A dessert luncheon will be served. Mrs. R. J. Donelson is chairman. Visiting Order of Eastern Star members and OES mem bers not affiliated in the val ley are invited. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baines, Rockford. The double-ring- ceremony was performed by the Rev. James A. Sinclair of the Church of Christ at 3 o'clock in Mountain View chapel. Mrs. Timothy Hamilton, Great Falls, Mont., sister of the bride, was matron of hon or and Mr. Hamilton was best man. John L. Baines, Rock ford, brother of the . bride groom, served as usher. , Given in marriage by her grandfather, Clarence Miller, Ashland, the bride wore a ballerina-length gown of white chantilly lace over white sat in. It was styled with a bolero jacket and three-q uarter length sleeves. She carried a bouquet of white and pale pink carna tions. Mrs. Hamilton wore a pale blue princess-style gown of polished cotton with full skirt of ballerina length. Baskets of pink gladioli and yellow chrysanthemums dec orated the church. The Rev. Mr. Sinclair sang. A reception was given by Mrs. Miller at the family resi dence following the ceremony. The bride was graduated from Ashland High school and her husband is a gradu ate of Rockford High school He is a storekeeper in the United States navy and the couple will reside at the Na val Air station, Miramar, San Diego, following a wedding trip along the northern Cali fornia coast. - " . Out-of-town guests at the event included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baines and son, John, Rockford, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Bjorne Bjornsen, Medford; George Wicklande, Pendle ton; and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller, Mr., and Mrs. Roy Mil ler, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stone, and Mrs. Virgil Horn and Benny, Klamath Falls. Betrothal News Told in Klamath Klamath Falls-The engage ment of Miss Sharon Lynn Rutten to Harold Lester Set- zer was recently announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Rutten. Miss Rutten was graduated from Klamath Union High school and attended Southern Oregon college. Her fiance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Setzer, Prospect, served four years with the United States Marine corps after graduat ing from Prospect High school. He attended Southern Oregon college and is em ployed in Eugene. A July wedding is planned, after which the young couple will reside- in Eugene. 1 John Day Home To Be Scene of League Picnic The annual membership pic nic of Medford League of Women Voters -has been set for the afternoon of Wednes day, July 8, at the Gold Rey home of Mrs. John Day. A salad buffet luncheon will be served at 12:30 o'clock followed by swimming and bridge in the afternoon. Mrs. John T. Weisel, League membership chairman, Is in charge of the event, assisted by Mrs. Robert Scofield and Mrs. Thomas Rutter, Medford, and Mrs. I. S. Thomas and Mrs. Ron James, Phoenix. Plans for the event were made at a meeting of the board of directors Tuesday in the courthouse annex. Members have been urged to bring prospective members as guests. All women inter ested in activities of the non partisan group will be wel come. Reservations may be made by calling Mrs. Weisel, SPring 3-2322. The picnic is the only event planned for League member ship this summer, and a short humorous program on the group's activities is planned. Women, attending are en couraged to form car pools for the trip to the Day residence. : . , Senator Durno To Be Speaker State Senator Edwin R. Durno will be guest speaker for a meeting of Jackson County: Republican Women's club, Monday, June 22 at the Red Cross building at 12 noon. Dr. Durno's topic will be The Past and the Future". He will bring to the group some of the highlights of the legislative session just ended, and then will discuss the projected interim committee work of the next biennium. Members and their guests will bring sack lunches, and coffee and dessert will be available. Maddox, route 2, box 2, be came the bride of Clyde Ray mond Smith, son of Mrs. Mil dred Smith, route 1, box 62, and the late Clyde R. Smith, in a ceremony held June 6. The double ring ceremony was held in historic St. Jo seph's Catholic church where the' bride had been organist for the past several years. The Rev. William McLeod officiated at the wedding at tended by 100 relatives and friends. The bride wore a white Chantilly lace over pleated net gown in floor length and her veil was fingertip length.. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, yellow roses, and ivy which were en twined with a crystal neck lace given her as a young girl by her grandmother. Ru pert F. Maddox Jr., escorted his sister to the altar due to the illness of her father. Miss Diana Maddox attend ed her sister. She wore a pink ballerina length frock of flow ered nylon over satin with pink picture hat. Her bou quet was of pink carnations and pink rosebuds. Charles Kimball, brother- in-law of the bridegroom, served as best man. Seating the guests were John Win ningham, Applegate, and Don Smith. Old fashioned flower bas kets filled with pink roses decorated the church for the ceremony. They were arrang ed by Mrs. Ray Coleman and Mrs. Leonard McKee. .For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Maddox' wore a beige dress with white accessories and pink rose corsage. Mrs. Smith chose a blue dress with white accessories and had a yellow rose corsage. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Maddox home. Mrs. Chandler Drew and Mrs. J. O. Killings- worth cut and served the cake and Miss Judy Hogan presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Delbert Clifford served the coffee and Mrs. Earl Brown and Mrs. Dean Leuhrs were at the gift tables. The newlywed couple trav eled to the coast and north ern Oregon cities on- their wedding trip, the bride wear ing for traveling a light green suit with .white accessories and white carnation corsage. The bride's sisters, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Douglas Mc Kee, assisted the bride prior to the couple's departure. The bride is a graduate of Jacksonville High school and attended Southern Oregon col lege. They will make their home in Corvallis where the bridegroom plans to enter Oregon State college. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at a bridal shower by Mrs. Maddox Jr. and Mrs. Charles Kimball. California Couple Wed In Nevada Hilts-Miss Rochelle Grazier of Yreka, Calif., became the bride of Reno Trinca, Hilts, Saturday, May 31, in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral at Reno, Nev. Father Zavlia per formed the double rine cere mony at 2:30 o'clock in the presence of tne lamtues and a few close friends of the bridal couple. For her wedding, the bride chose a short sleeved white brocaded satin sheath dress with a bouffant overskirt of white net,' tied at the waist with a white velvet sash. Her shoulder length veil was held in place with a tiara trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a white prayer book, centered with a white orchid and sprays of stephanotis. The bride's only attendant was Mrs. Cenneth Robinson, Yreka, who. wore a pastel blue nylon dress and a half crown white velvet hat with a brief veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. John Sylvestra of Hilts serv ed as best man. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Grazi er of Yreka and the bride groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Trinca, Hilts. Also attending the wedding were Mrs. John Sylvestra, Kenneth Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Trinca, broth er and sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Following the . ceremony, the wedding party gathered at the Nugget, Sparks, Nev., for a wedding dinner. The newlyweds visited vari ous points, of interest in Ne vada and returned on June 5 to Hilts. They are making their home in the cabin at the State Line Service. . . Two Garden Clubs Plan Installation " Roxy Gardeners will hold the final meeting of the sea son Wednesday, June. 24, at the home of Mrs. C. C. Hoover,' Gregory road, Cen tral Point, at 12:30 pjn. Installation of officers for both Roxy Gardeners and Howard Garden club will take place after a potluck picnic. Everyone, is asked to take table service. Director and Orchestra To Be Honored at Event . On behalf of the Fine Arts committee of the Oregon Cen tennial commission, and the Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon, a commit tee of Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass women is plan- Mothers Aid Memorial Fund Funds to aid in construc tion of a memorial to honor the Silent Crew of 1,102 en tombed in "the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor were raised at a silver tea held recently by the Medford chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America. The event took place at the home of Mrs. James Cech, 28 Quinoe street. All chapters of Blue Star Mothers are help ing with the project. Members of the Medford chapter held, a monthly busi ness and social meeting June 18 at the home of Mrs., J. E. Gindling, 21 Myrtle street.
