Saunders, 1478 Ridgeway av enue, became the bride of Walter Robert Johnsory son 01 air. ana inrs. waiter jonn- son, 325 South Ivy street, in a ceremony held June 12 at the Central Church of Christ. Dexter Williams, minister of the church, officiated at the single ring ceremony held at eight o'clock in the eve ning. Miss Melody PierCe played the piano wedding mu sic and accompanied John Hansen and A. L. Saunders, brother of the bride, soloists. The event was attended by 75 relatives and friends. The bride wore an embroid ered white taffeta frock fash ioned with bouffant skirt, and her tulle veil, edged with Thayer-Quinn Wedding Held Cave Junction-Mrs. Esther Quinn became the bride of Al Thayer in an afternoon ceremony June 14 at the bride's home in O'Brien. Mrs. Harry LaRese, Grants Pass minister, officiated. Acting as attendants were the bride's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Quinn of Medford and the bridegroom's daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pfaendler, Grants Pass.' Petite Sharon Quinn was Ting bearer. Some 70 guests attended the wedding and the recep tion immediately following the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Thayer plan to make their home on Rocky dale road. On Thursday before the wedding the bride-elect was honored with a shower given at the O'Brien schoolhouse by Mesdames Robert Bottel, Ves- ter Cogburn, William Wood bury, James Cooke and Ted Rogers. Skits and songs, directed by Mrs. Emma' Lemm provid ed the entertainment for the afternoon. A gift of a money tree was presented to the hon ored guest by the 40 persons attending. 4- Program Planned On Wild Herbs Mrs. R. D. Abel will make and explain an arrangement of wild herbs .at a meeting of the Rogue .Valley Herb society June 23 at 1 cm. at the home of Mrs. John Holtz, 2121 East Jackson street. Members are to give the botanical name and use of a wild herb during the roll call. The lesson on "Wild Herbs of my own woods and gar den" will be given by Mrs. Lester Lingscheit. She will il lustrate her talk with many herbarium specimens. The group was told that the society's library (has a number of new books, includ ing "Have Eun with Herbs," by Edith Farwell, which was added in honor of officers who served in 1958. A book listing all the herbs mentioned in Shakespeare's plays also has been added. WEDDING... Announcements Imprinted Wedding Napkins Punch Bowl Rentals at Chantilly lace, was held by a circlet of roses. She car ried a bouquet pf pink roses encircling an orchid. Mrs. James Johnson, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. was matron of honor. She wore a frock of pink embroid ered taffeta fashioned as the bride's" .with a white flowered hat. Her bouquet was of white roses. Mrs. Saunders made the dresses for both the bride and Mrs. Johnson. Can- dlelighters were Mrs. L. ' L Sellers and Mrs. W. L. Hen- ney, both sisters of the bride. James Johnson served as best man for his brother. Seating the guests were Bar rel Wilson and W. L. Henney, Central Point, brother-in-law of the bride. Mrsi Dexter Wil liams arranged the llowers for the reception which fol lowed the wedding at the church. Mrs. A. L. Saunders and Mrs. Sellers cut and serv ed the wedding cake baked by Mrs. F. H. Saunders. Charles and Alfred Henney. nephews of the bride, were at the gift tables and Mrs. A. L. Saunders, sister-in-law of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. ' The newbnved counle trav eled to the coast on their wed ding trip, the bride wearing for traveling a persimmon colored sheath' dress with white accessories. They will be at home at 401 Kenwood avenue after June 22. The bride attended Med ford High school and Robert son School of Business. Mr. Johnson attended Medford High school and Robertson School of Business and is em ployed by Kay Paper Prod ucts. f- . Extension Groups Announce Picnic The annual picnic of the Jackson County Home Exten sion Advisory committee and the Alumnae association will be held Tuesday, June 23, at the home of Mrs.' Curtis Stockstill, 2070 Houston road. Luncheon will be served at noon and members' are to take table service. Mrs. Arnold Bohnert, a member of the Alumnae asso ciation, will install the new Advisory committee officers. Mrs. Lucian Van Gordon is the newly elected chairman. The other officers to be in stalled are Mrs. Rolland Smith, vice-chairman; Mrs. Ed gar Pleasant, secretary; and Mrs. William W. Jackson, treasurer. ' Reports on the state coun cil meeting held in Corvallis last month will be given. Miss Mary Pat Lucy, county home economics agent, will lead a discussion on the extension program for the coming year. At the last Advisory com mittee meeting, plans were made for the annual officers training school. Because of the large increase . in extension units in the county it will be held two days this year, July 22 and July 29. On those days all the unit officers and pro gram planners will meet for instruction and a discussion of the lessons for .the new year. Ceremony At Home Weds Pair . A double-ring ceremony in the home of the bride's moth er wedded Miss Carol Anne Custance, daughter of Mrs. R. J. Custance, 1310 West Main street, to David Allen Elrod, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Elrod, 1417 " West Main street. The Rev. D. Kirkland West of the First Presbyterian church read the service at 8 pjn. Friday, June 12, before 75 guests. Miss Sarah White was the bride's attendant and Wayne Allen, Central Point, was best man for his cousin. Leonard and Robert Custance, broth ers of the bride, were ushers. Frank Salyers, a family friend, gave the bride -in mar riage. She wore a beige wool suit and a pink hat and car ried a nosegay of pink carna tions and rosebuds. Her attendant wore a blue chiffon gown with a blue hat and a nosegay of pink carna tions. Mrs. Custance chose a pink sheath dress with white acces sories and a corsage of white carnations for the wedding. Mrs. Elrod wore a beige silk dress inset with net, and pink accessories and carnations. Miss Lana Salyers cut the wedding cake at the recep tion which followed. Pouring and serving were Mrs. Harry Crofoot, Miss Sharon McNeil and Miss Carmen Bernheisel. Miss Sandra Elrod had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Otto Ewaldsen deco rated the home with pink and white gladioli, roses, peonies and white tapers. The couple made a wedding trip to the Oregon coast and will reside in Medford. The bride and her family moved to Medford from Van couver, B.C., three years ago. She was graduated from Med ford High school. Her grand mother, Mrs. J. A. Custance, Vancouver, B.C., attended the wedding. The bridegroom was gradu ated from 1 Medford High school and attended Southern Oregon college. He is employ ed by Steve Wilson Lumber company. Chairmen . Announced Mrs. Emerson Anderson and Mrs. Owen Kunkel of Medford have been named co chairmen to head the 1960 convention of the. Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers which will be held in Medford. '.'-, Mrs. Kunkel also recently was elected vice president of Region VI, replacing Mrs. Arthur Moore, Klamath Falls, who resigned due to illness in her family. Mrs. Kunkel is retiring president of the Jackson County Council of Parent Teacher associations, and is a former president of the Med ford council. The state convention is set for April 26-27 of next year at Hedrick junior high school. Mr. and Mrs. David Allen Elrod (Knacksledt photo) Warren -Tycer Rites Held In Cave Junction Church Cave Junction - An event of last Saturday, June 13, at the Cave Junction Community church was the wedding of Miss Lorna Jeanne Tycer to Donald Dean Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Warren. The Rev. Gene Denning offi ciated for the double-ring cer emony. Tall baskets of pink and blue daisies, dyed to match the gowns worn by the bridal attendants, decorated the sanctuary. Music was provid ed by organist Roberta Martin and soloist Dean Warren, father of. the bridegroom. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald G. Tycer, was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white Chantilly lace 'and peau de soie gown, with finger tip nylon tulle veil caught by a seed pearl and lace Juliet cap. She carried a white orchid on, a white prayer book in a cas cade of pink rose buds. She wore a strand of matched pearls and earrings, a gift from the bridegroom. Miss Kathy Tycer, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length princess line . gown of pink brocade linen with matching hat and carried a nosegay of blue Ester Reed daisies. Bridesmaids were the Misses Dorothy Smith and Martha Lewis. They wore identical gowns of blue brocade linen and carried pink daisies. Sandy Sowell, wearing a pink brocade linen dress, with matching hat was the flower girl. " ' . Noel Turner and Norman Sowell, cousins of the. bride, were the candlelighters. Ush ers -were Gary Tycer, the bride's brother, and Charles Marchant, Medford. . Clarence Lewis Jr., served as best man. Mrs. Tycer chose for her daughter's wedding a navy blue sheath frock with white accessories and a white car nation corsage. Mrs. Warren wore an afternoon dress of blue with black accessories ill J, mi- and a white carnation cor sage. , A reception at the church followed the ceremony. Miss Dorothy Warren, Miss Jean Preston and Miss Zada Smith served. Miss Sonja Lewis was in charge of the guest book and the Misses Margo Hill and Di ane Sowell assisted at the gift table. Mrs. Warren chose for her wedding trip to Seattle, Wash., a mint green sheath with white accessories and wore the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The young couple will be at home after June 20 at . 380 South Third street, Dixon, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Warren are both Illinois Valley High school graduates. The bride groom is now with the U.S. Air Force and is stationed at Travis Air Force base. Among the wedding guests were Mr. and Mrs. James Eg gers, Ashland; and Miss Shar on Walsh, Medford. Gardeners Hold Annual Ceremony Mrs. Noel Erskine was in stalled as president of Grove Garden club Wednesday eve when the group met for its annual picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Hamilton, Arnold lane. Dinner was served in the patio. Other officers installed by Mrs. Fred Gardner were Mrs. Earl Brewold, vice president; Mrs. B. H. Belknap, secretary; and Mrs. George Wimer, trea surer. Mrs. W. H. Arnold was pre sented gifts in appreciation of her work as president for the past two years. The officiating min ister was the Rev. Andrew .W. Rahn, uncle of the bride, who is pastor of the Pentecosjal Church of God, Hughson, Calif. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Adam Rahn, 5151 Table Rock road, Central Point, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Tucker, Exeter, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tuck er, brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom, attended- the couple. Mr. Rahn gave his daughter in marriage, and Floyd Akins, Medford, seated the guests. - The bride wore a light blue suit with' white veil and her flowers were white carna tions. Other officers installed by Mrs. Bertha Haskins, past president, were Mrs. Lola Mil- hoan, first vice-president; Mrs. Norma Burroughs, second vice-president; Mrs. Dona Ed monds, recording secretary; MrstEllenLynner, correspond ing secretary; Mrs. Anne Palmer, treasurer; Mrs. Thel ma Mclntyre, auditor; and di rectors, Mrs. Margaret Pres ton, Mrs. Muriel Shortridge, Mrs. Muriel Preston, and Mrs. Jean Mast, retiring president. Sax, Manhattan Beach, Calif. Mrs. Haskins paid tribute to the retiring officers and cited the acppmplishments of the past year. It was announced that next month s meeting will be family picnic while a field trip to . tlie Shasta Ski bowl is planned for August 16.
