Local and Personal Grass Fir - Firemen said that small boys still at the scene when fire fighting equipment was sent to a grass fire told how they had started the blaze playing with matches, "he 50 by 100-foot fire in a field adjacent to the James Swindler residence, 2702 Connell st., was report ed about 12:40 p.m. The field is owned by Swindler. Fire men turned the boys over to their parents. V Fir Extinguished ' An Ap ple st. resident put out a trash fire on his property near his house about 11:40 a.m. yes terday and called police who in turn informed the fire de partment. Firemen said they found the tenant of the neigh boring property had moved out and had burned rubbish in a barrel next to the com ' plainant's house. They noti fied the owner of the prop erty. Arrested Medford police last night reported arresting Charles William Griffin, 23, of 304 South Central ave., on a charge of disorderly conduct in connection with an alleged prowling incident at Crater Inn motel, 841 South River side ave. Griffin pleaded in nocent in municipal court to day and.is to be tried June 17. Obituaries EDWARD McINTOSH Funeral services for Ed ward William Mcintosh, 76, of Klamath Falls, who died in a local hospital Monday, will be held at 10:30 ajn. Chapel Mortuary was in charge of local arrange ments. , Mr. Mcintosh was born in Washington county, Kans., March 2, 1883. He was mar ried in Westwood, Calif., in 1926 to Ruth AdeUe Smith, from whom he was divorced in 1937. Mr. Mcintosh came to Oregon in 1930, where he worked as a cook and baker in various logging camps in southern Oregon. He was a long-time member of the Moose lodge. He is survived by one son, Sgt. Farm Groups Talk Safety Code Plans Salem - (UPD - The Depart ment of Motor Vehicles heard suggestions here Thursday for forming a safety code of ve hicles used to transport farm workers. , ... About 25 representatives of farm and industrial groups, as well as the Interstate Com merce Commission, attended the meeting. The 1959 Legislature direct ed the department to establish a safety code , for such ve hicles. David J. McDonald, presi dent of the USW, said the 171r man committee angrily reject ed an industry proposal to modify its wage freeze if the union accepts eight changes in the contract. McDonald said that commit tee members "hooted and howled" at the industry's suggestion that they give up certain protections in . the contract, McDonald told reporters the committee's action au thorizes him to shut down the mills if no new contract exists at the strike deadline July 1 .
