An event of early December each year it the Military Ball, given by the Rogue Valley Chapter, Reserve Officers' association. Co chairmen for the 1958 event, held December' 6 at Rogue Valley Country club, were Capt- James Straus (at left) and Captain Thomas Saunders, pictured here with Mrs. Straus and Mrs. Saunders. About 35 couples attend ed the formal party, held in the main dining room of the club. Dinner preceded dancing. Traditional Party Planned by Court Thursday Evening " Roxy Ann court, Order of Amaranth, will hold the monthly meeting and a Christ mas party Thursday, Decem ber 18, at 8 p.m. in Medford Masonic temple. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. by Reames Social club, assisted by members of Bethel 55, In ternational Order of Job's Daughters. Mrs. Marshall Day, royal matron, and Fred Purdin, pa tron, extend an invitation to all members, their husbands and wives, to attend the event. Annual Parties Announced By Kiwanis, DAR, Others Christmas parties, large and small, fill the social calendar this week. In the spirit of the season, lodges, clubs and serv ice groups are assembling food, clothing and toys which will be distributed to less for tunate families just before Christmas day. Some groups will give annual parties for those confined to convales cent homes. Wives will be guests of Ki wanis club members at their noon luncheon on Wednesday, December 17, at Rogue Val ley Country club. This year members of the club are asked to bring gifts or $1.50 each for purchase of Christmas gifts for children who are in classes for the physically handicapped in Medford schools. Kiwanians will give their annual party for residents of the county farm home on Thursday evening, December 18. Mr. Jean M. Shelley officii ated at the 8:30 o'clock eve ning wedding. Miss Dee McCullough at tended the bride and Jon H. Berning served as best man. The bride attended Eagle Point schools and is employed by Jacks Drive JJp in Med ford. Mr. Root attended Cen tral Point schools and is em ployed by Cascade Wood Prod ucts company here. : Bride Honored In Central Point Central Point - Mrs. Arlene Colpitts Reams was honored guest afr a . surprise wedding shower given at the home of Mrs. Merle Rivenburg. Mrs. E.' L. Walter was co-hostess for the affair. Games were played before the opening of the gifts; Mrs. Roy Colpitts won a prize. Gourds and brightly colored corn were arranged on a sil ver lazy-Susan to form the centerpiece for the pink cov ered refreshment table. Re freshments were served buffet style.
