4A MAIL TRIBUNE, Mtdford, Oregon, Sunday, December 14, 1958 Mother of Year Selected By Eagle Point Jayceetes Eagle Point Mrs. Edward R. Chamberlain was announ ced "Mother of the Year" for Eagle Point at the recent second annual tea given by Eagle Point Jaycettes at the Grange hall. Mrs. Chamber lain was presented an en graved silver plate. Mrs. Chamberlain, co-owner and operator of Town and Country Dress Shop in Eagle Point, lives on a farm nearby with Mr. Chamberlain. She has eight grown children, lour boys and four girls, who live in southern Oregon and northern California. The hon ored woman has been active in various civic and commun ity groups for many years. Mrs. Chamberlain was chos en by a board of judges from outside the community using only a list of qualifications and without knowing the con testants. Mrs. Chamberlain was chos en from among six women whose names were proposed by groups. The winner was chosen by a board of judges from outside the community using numbered lists of qual ifications without the candi dates' names. The candidates and their sponsors were Mrs. Charlotte Van Scoy, Eagle Point Gar den club; Mrs. James Lusk, the Missionary society of Eagle Point Community Bible church; Mrs. Chamberlain, Eagle Point Home Extension unit; Mrs. Ray Briggs, Shady Cove bethel, International Order of Job's Daughters; Mrs. Glenn D. Hale, Eagle Point Lions' auxiliary and Mrs. Lester Wertz, Eagle Point Grange Home Econom ics club. Maynard Hadley sang for the group, accompanied by Mrs. Keith Krambeal, and The Personalities from the Eagle Point High school, Duke Wild, Bill Pfiefer, Neil Cooper and Ben Nork sang three selections. Mrs. iiert Simmons was mistress of ceremonies. She presented Mrs. Richard Strat- ton, president of the Central Point Jaycettees, and Mrs. Charles Henry, president of the Medford Jayceettees. A gift certificate from Town and Country Dress shop was presented to Mrs. Otis Hill. The six women nominated were (left to right) Mrs. Ray Briggs. Mrs. Edward R. Chamberlain, chosen for the honor, Mrs. Glenn D. Hale. Mrs. J. C. Lusk, Mrs. Lottie Van Scoy and Mrs. Lester Wertz. Mrs. James Martinson, pres ident of the sponsoring group, presented a gift to Mrs. Glenn Nelson, general chairman of the tea, in appreciation for her work. Eagle Point Club Holds Initiation Eagle Point-Initiation cere monies took place at the an nual Christmas party of Eagle Point Lions' auxiliary, held at the home of Mrs. Stewart Hopper. Mrs. Glenn Hale-assisted Mrs. Hopper. Names of the new members are Mrs. Robert Cocks, Mrs. Darrel Copeland, Mrs. Ernest Gregg and Mrs. Hale. All were presented Christmas corsages made by Mrs. Clar ence Davies. Plans were discussed for a charity project, and for the annual remembrance gifts. . Mrs. Dean Collette was a guest of the evening. Mrs. Gail Schoppert was in charge of the gift exchange; a quiz game announced the owners of the gaily wrapped packages. The next meeting will be a potluck dinner at the home of Mrs. Fred Bruegger Janu ary 12. Plan Party Sams VaUey Sams Valley Ladies' club will hold a Christmas party Thursday, December 18, at the home of Mrs. John Ekerman, Duggan road, at 1 p.m. Secret pals will be disclosed at the meet ing and names drawn for the coming year. Among the guests at the recent tea given by the Eagle Point Jayceettes at the Eagle Point Grange hall were (at left) Mrs. Leland M. Charley and Mrs. Henry Meyer. Mrs. C. E. Kimmel was ticket chairman for the event and Mrs. James Martinson (at right) is president of the Eagle Point group. This was the second annual pre-holiday parly given by the Jayceettes and was called a "celestial tasting tea." Military Orders Assist at Camp . At the December 9 meeting Bert Hukill, Mrs. O. O. De- Roguette circle, Military Order of Lady Bugs and Coot ies assisted with the Christ mas program held recently at Camp White and are helping the veterans wrap their Christmas gifts. December 19 the group will decorate the wards and deliver gifts. On December 22 all wards will be visited and baskets will be delivered to each veteran at the camp. Various groups will tour the halls playing and singing Christmas carols. The tour will be followed by a formal dance in the theater for all VAVS members and Camp White veterans. It will be held jointly with the Knights of Pythias, Pyth ian Sisters, Boy Scout Troop 16, Nomads and DOKKs and their respective families. A potluck dinner will be served at 6:30 and Santa will be on hand to treat the children. Past Chiefs' club of the Pythian Sisters will have a Christmas party Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Harry Barneburg, 1297 Sun set avenue, commencing with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Don Anderson will be co hostess. Election of officers will be held, and an exchange of gifts. Past Chief pals will be revealed. Pythian club met last Wednesday evening for a Christmas party and election of officers. Mrs. Rae Jack is preident, Mrs. Walter Gro chocki, vice-president, and Mrs. Jack Hall, secretary treasurer. An exchange of gifts and revelation of calanthe sisters was held. Cards were played with prizes won by Mrs. Jack and Mrs. Jay Cochran. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Joe Fritsch. Couple to Attend .
